The Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use require that editors disclose their "employer, client, and affiliation" with respect to any paid contribution; see WP:PAID. For advice about reviewing paid contributions, see WP:COIRESPONSE.

Hello, Hideawayfall. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 11:15, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

[edit]You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.
Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page.
You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text
{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

Thank you for your reply. The violations you reference were made in genuine error and I was under the impression that subsequent edits, clean-ups and disclosures had resolved these. If this is not the case then please advise me as to what more I can do. Thank youHideawayfall (talk) 11:15, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- Your edits still violated WP:PROMO. For example, in this edit, another editor cleans up a lot of the inappropriately promotional content you added. In general, you are expected to refrain from writing about subjects for which you have a conflict of interest, though you'd be free to suggest changes on the article's talk page. --Yamla (talk) 11:19, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for helping me. I'm sorry to ask so much of you, but would you be able to explain to me exactly what in my edits made them inappropriately promotional? The article still requires updating and, while I'm happy to request the changes via the article's talk page when I have amended my username and been unblocked, it would be useful to know if my proposed edits will be accepted. Thank you again. Hideawayfall (talk) 11:25, 19 October 2020 (UTC)

Request reason:
As the previous username I requested was unavailable, I wish to try again so as to make my account comply with Wikpedia policy. Under the new username, I will not make direct changes to articles with which I have a conflict of interest and wish to be able to request amended changes through the proper channels. I do sincerely apologise for my previous errors and will endeavour to do better under this new username. I have learnt so much during my short time on Wikipedia and I hope you will give me this chance. Thank you. Hideawayfall (talk) 10:57, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

You've been renamed, so I've unblocked you. Please make sure that you've read our guideline on how to manage a conflict of interest and the Terms of Use. This is important, and you'll be reblocked if you ignore them. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 11:41, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
