Welcome!

Hello, Green Marble, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, please see our help pages, and if you can't find what you are looking for there, please feel free to ask me on my talk page or place {{Help me}} on this page and someone will drop by to help. Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages (including user talk pages) are for discussion related to improving (a) an encyclopedia article in specific ways based on reliable sources or (b) project policies and guidelines. They are not for general discussion about the article topic or unrelated topics, or statements based on your thoughts or feelings. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. August 2021

[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to MSNBC, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you. SunDawntalk 12:33, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I did NOT use original research at all. All the citations were from the liberal bias section of the main article. How can you characterize that as original research and undo my edit? Green Marble (talk) 21:15, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

DS Alert: American politics

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Why am I receiving this message? Is this a threat about discretionary sanctions? Just asking. Thanks. Green Marble (talk) 14:39, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's explained in the first paragraph of the alert. Kleinpecan (talk) 18:21, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

One America News Network

[edit]

The description "far-right" in the article is attested to by a large number of independent reliable sources. If you wish to change this, you need to provide citations to back your change. If you want to discuss this, please do so on Talk:One America News Network, after first reading this archived discussion that came to the consensus on the "far-right" label. -- The Anome (talk) 17:58, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

George Floyd protests

[edit]

Thanks for your interest in the George Floyd protests in Minneapolis–Saint Paul article and your desire to improve it. The long-standing title of the article was reached through a process of consensus and it reflects the broader George Floyd protests series of articles. It is not helpful or necessary to keep inserting "riots" into the article title or info box. If you wish change the article title, please start a discussion on Talk:George Floyd protests and obtain consensus there. Thank you! Minnemeeples (talk) 17:02, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

October 2021

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. Acroterion (talk) 23:14, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You are also reminded of the discretionary sanctions notice farther up the page. Contested content must reach a consensus for inclusion, take it up on the talkpage first Acroterion (talk) 23:16, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators' noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Green Marble. Thank you. (talk) 03:57, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

DearKleinpecan - I tried the link, but don't see anything on the Notice Board with my name. Why exactly have I been blocked indefinitely? Can I appeal? Green Marble (talk) 12:40, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's been archived. The link is here [1] - section 31. You will need to address your editing behavior constructively for an unblock request to be seriously considered. Acroterion (talk) 12:46, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

October 2021 (blocked)

[edit]
Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently making disruptive edits.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 11:31, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Dear Bbb23 What exactly did I do that was so problematic as to get an indefinite block?? Green Marble (talk) 12:44, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 14:48, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The problem is that you mostly seem to use Wikipedia to promote your personal opinions, and seem to lack knowledge about policies and guidelines such as Wikipedia:Reliable sources and Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Personally, I would not object to an unblock if you agree to temporarily abstain from editing pages related to American politics, and maybe sign up for mentorship. Kleinpecan (talk) 15:03, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
DearKleinpecan I can certainly agree to abstain from editing pages related to American politics for the past 100 years or whatever. No problem. Green Marble

(talk) 14:16, 2 November 2021 (UTC).

Can you just block me from those pages? Green Marble (talk) 15:05, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not really, because I am not an admin, and even then it's only possible to partially block a user from up to ten pages, so you will need to avoid those pages yourself. Kleinpecan (talk) 22:25, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've asked an admin to look into possibly unblocking you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents § Green Marble unblock. Kleinpecan (talk) 22:36, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
