Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Green lantern bot. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Martin Nodell, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Per the edit summary here: [1] Dorsetonian (talk) 20:57, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not assume ownership of articles as you did at Martin Nodell. If you aren't willing to allow your contributions to be edited extensively or be redistributed by others, please do not submit them. Thank you. Dorsetonian (talk) 20:58, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It is an encyclopedia. "All content must be cited from reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking." Content is not to be dictated be the family of the subject. If you have concerns with content or sourcing, please discuss on the article's talk page to gain consensus. If unable to achieve consensus, seek dispute resolution. From your edit summary, it is clear you are editing at the behest of outsiders-- you have a conflict of interest. Please read and heed WP:COI and WP:PAID.-- Deepfriedokra 00:21, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Your edit on 18 September 2020 continues this pattern of uncited, unsubstantiated claims added to a biographical article. Please read the bluelinked policies and guidelines in the posts above, and please familiarize yourself with The Five Pillars of Wikipedia, which is simply a quick overview of policies and guidelines regarding citation, verification and related issues. If you continue to violate policies and guidelines, an admin will be asked to block you from editing.
Please take your issues to Talk:Martin Nodell where they can be dealt with one by one. Other editors will help you there if you simply ask rather than make unsubstantiated claims.--Tenebrae (talk) 14:14, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have been admonished for not blocking you because of your user name. WP:MISLEADNAME disallows usernames containing "bot". You may request a new user name, and I would be happy to rename you if you ping me by placing {{ping|Deepfriedokra}} in your request and signing with 4 ~'s. -- Deepfriedokra 17:05, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rename

[edit]

sounds good, I'm guessing this is how you comment, if not, I give up.

You're doing fine. You don;t need to create a new header. You can click the "edit" link for each section. ANd you can sign by adding 4 ~'s at the end of each post.-- Deepfriedokra 21:55, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
globally renamed Green lantern bot to Green Lantern's lantern.-- Deepfriedokra 22:00, 16 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, i have the concern of others taking things i add in to the martin wiki... is this normal? sorry for all the questions but you have been a big help, and before i went ahead and reverted versions back, i wanted to consult with you first, excuse my lack of words, it is early in the morning.

No, it would be best to ask them how to improve the article and how your edit was less than optimal. Explain that you are new and learning. For instance, i noticed someone reverted "passed away" back to "died", per Wikipedia:Euphemism. The manual of style is often convoluted and hard for even long-time users to understand. But no, I would not revert "died" back to "passed away".-- Deepfried

Hey, it is me again, I would like to add "2020 marks the 80th anniversary of green lantern" if that is ok with you, and then I'm done for 2020 at least, and for 2020 id like to have a lock on the edit so you cannot edit it anymore since some people mistake martin as the co-creator and bill finger as the creator, so if that can be allowed, I would be very appreciated, thank you, best regards.

Hello, this has not been replied to so i suppose that is a no. Green Lantern's lantern (talk) 16:55, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
