Rambling Wreck
[edit]The link you used to reference your addition to Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech, http://www.mcs.sdsmt.edu/rwjohnso/html/schoolsong.html appears to be dead? —Disavian (talk/contribs) 00:56, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- Never mind, it's live. I'll have a look at the reference. Anyway, is there a date attached to that song? I'm sure there are plenty of derivatives, but I've been trying to keep it in chronological order. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 00:57, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
Adopt-a-user reminder
[edit]Hello, I have completed a general cleanup of the adopter information page for the adopt-a-user project, located here. During my cleanup, I have removed several inactive and retired users. In order to provide interested adoptees with an easy location to find adopters, it is essential that the page be up-to-date with the latest information possible. Thus:
- If you are no longer interested in being an adopter, please remove yourself from the list.
- If you are still interested, please check the list to see if any information needs to be updated or added - especially your availability. Thank you.
- You are receiving this message because you are listed as an adopter here.

An update from adopt a user
[edit]Hi there GreenRunner0! You may be wondering, what have I done to sound the alarm this time? Nothing. I'm messaging you in regards to the adopt-a-user program, which currently has a backlog of users wishing to be adopted. This doesn't make much sense, as we have a considerable list of users offer adoption, so there shouldn't be any backlog. I've begun to eliminate this backlog myself through a matching program, but I need your help to make it work. Of course, adoptees and adopters don't have to go through there, but I believe it helps eliminate the backlog because someone is actively matching pairs.
On the list of adopters, I have modified the middle column to say "Interests." It's easier working with other users that have similar interests, so if it's not too much to ask, could you add your interests in the middle column? For example, if I was interested in hurricanes, computers, business, and ... reptiles? I would place those in the middle column. Counter-vandalism and the like can also be included (maintenance should be used as the general term). The more interests, the better, since adoptees can learn more about you and choose the one they feel most comfortable working with. The information about when you're most active and other stuff can go into the "Notes" section to the right.
Finally, I've gone around and asked adoptees (and will in the future) to fill in a short survey so adopters can take the initiative and contact users they feel comfortable working with. We all know that most adoptees just place the adopt me template on their user page and leave it - so it's up to us to approach them and offer adoption. So, please take a look at the survey, adopt those that fit your interests, and maybe watchlist it so you can see the interests of adoptees and adopt one that fits your interests in the future.
Once again, thank you for participating in the adopt-a-user program! If you wish to respond to this post, please message me on my talk page.

The article Texas in July has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No evidence of notability. Still no independent sources, despite being tagged "refimprove" for nearly a year and a half.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. JamesBWatson (talk) 17:18, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
Tycho
[edit]Hi GreenRunner0,
How odd, I just found Tycho through Spotify's new album list. Looking it up on Wikipedia, I noticed it lacked some Wiki formatting (nothing major: bold title, external link in infobox, some overlinking). Turns out, you created the page just four days ago. Thanks for your good work.
Kind regards,

Hi GreenRunner0. I'm leaving you this message because you have previously been involved as an adopter with Wikipedia's Adopt-a-user program. A clean-up of this program is currently underway, and as part of the process I am trying to find out who is and isn't still interested in remaining an adopter.
If you would prefer not to be part of the adoption program anymore, you need do nothing; when the overhaul of the project is completed your name will be removed from the list of active adopters. However, if you have current adoptees, an active adoption school or an interest in adopting in the near future, then please let us know by signing here.
If you want to remain in the project and can currently take on more adoptees, there is a serious backlog at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user; it would be enormously helpful if you could take on one or two of the users there. Please do keep an eye on the project for upcoming changes, we could use your opinions and your help! Yunshui 雲水 09:02, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

Not so minor?
[edit]I notice that you've added Native American etymologies to the articles on a few Nebraska towns on my watchlist. That's a very good thing. However, could I suggest that you not mark them as minor edits, in that they're actually adding meaningful content? Per WP:MINOR, when adding or removing content, the edit should not be marked as minor. Instead of checking them as minor edits, could you use a brief edit summary? Round of 64
[edit]From a discussion at the College Basketball WikiProject, we agreed that we should label NCAA Tournament rounds as "Round of 64" or "Round of 32" in the team infoboxes. This is because in recent years the Tournament has used different names for the rounds. If a user is navigating between different years, they might see "Second round" listed for two different years, but if it is 2016 it means the Round of 32, and if its 2015 it means Round of 64. We do include the official NCAA name in the schedule table in the "gamename" field as a compromise. Imagine shuffling between different seasons for a particular team; it would be impossible to tell how far the team advanced each year if the round appears to be the same but is actually completely different. See here for the discussion: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject College Basketball/Archive 5#Tournament scores and seeding in infoboxes. Cc: @Bsuorangecrush:. ~ Richmond96 T • C 05:54, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
- I had just forgot about that on the few pages I've finished. I'll go back to doing it that way from here on out and change the ones that need changed. So many people update the NCAA teams pages that I focus on smaller tournaments for now because they are missed a lot but I'll get around to them all. Bsuorangecrush (talk) 19:32, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

The file File:KatawaShoujoSoundtrack.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Katawa Shoujo#Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article; so, omitting it would not be detrimental to the reader's understanding of any article content.

[edit]Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
[edit]Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

[edit]Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits, such as your recent edits to PFT Commenter, as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:24, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
Isaac Alarcón
[edit]Regarding your edit to Isaac Alarcón, there are two discussions about whether to include 2020 as his undrafted year at User talk:Eagles247#Isaac Alarcon and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_National_Football_League#Isaac_Alarcon. I would appreciate your input there as you've added back 2020 after I took it out. Additionally, you marked that edit as "minor", and as I posted in the above section, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content.

[edit]The article Rip Open the Skies has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Two sources: first is a database entry and the other is dead, but likely did not address the contents of the album so the article fails WP:NALBUM and WP:GNG. The remainder of the band's works should be similarly reviewed.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Ways to improve Bâtisseurs de Montcalm
[edit]Hello, GreenRunner0,
Thank you for creating Bâtisseurs de Montcalm.
I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:
This article - about a professional hockey team - needs to meet general notability. What is needed are references significant coverage SIGCOV about this team, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS; that is your guide.
Statistics, team rosters, Instagram, Facebook are not reliable sources. You need at least three reliable sources.
You should also read WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources. A more comprehensive guide is WP:SOURCES ... Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain.
The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}

J. Michel Doyon
[edit]A LG is not replaced until the successor is sworn into office - usually a few months after the announcement is made. "A Lieutenant Governor is appointed for an indefinite period, and his or her term ends only when a successor is sworn in." You will note Mr. Doyon's appointment was announced in July but didn't begin his duties until September 2015. Cahk (talk) 19:52, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
- Then that should be noted with the proper references rather than just going to pages, replacing citations, and just leaving an edit summary of "Incorrect." and nothing else. GreenRunner0 20:12, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
- A note was left with the editor (User talk:Zadcat) who did the updates. The statement that Ms. Jeannotte is the present LGQC is indeed an incorrect statement. --Cahk (talk) 20:18, 8 December 2023 (UTC)
Ulster Banner
[edit]Hi, I'm sure are aware that the Ulster Banner was the common flag of Northern Ireland from 1953 until that government was abolished in 1973 with the passing of the Northern Ireland Constitution Act 1973. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Ulster_Banner. It is now exclusively used by the Protestant/Unionist/Loyalist community, often to intimidate or mark out territory and is offensive to the Nationalist/Republican community.
The SSE Arena, particularly on Giants game days is a neutral venue. We have no flags and no anthems for a reason. There is no shared consenus around emblems in our wee country generally or in the increased crowds at the SSE arena we've been enjoying lately. I will continue editing the flag icon beside the references to the Giants team because they have banned the Ulster Banner, along with the Union flag and Irish Tri-colour from the arena on game days. They do not attach our club to one side or the other. Every club with the exception of the Belfast Giants have a flag front and centre of the their CHL jersey collar that is becuase Northern Ireland doesn't actually have an offical flag that everyone can stand behind.
Editing out the flag on references to the club is only becuase it's a shared asset of northern Ireland. I have never been tempted to remove the flag from an NI born players as that is up to them. However if I was an NI born player and I removed this icon from my name I wouldn't expect someone to keep putting it back.
Help me understand why it's included?
For:
1. Used by other sports organisations to represent NI, but not all.
Against:
1. Used by other sectarian organisations
2. Not an official flag of northern Ireland
3. Banned from the SSE Arena
4. All flags shunned by the Giants
5. We are a country of minorities, Unionist, Republican and other/undecided/indfferent. This flag is used by one of the three groups while the giants is tryng to bring all groups together through sports
Please have some consideration for what the organization is trying to achieve by staying clear on controversial symbolism. By not havng a flag displayed it is not an attack on the current status of northern Ireland but is making a statement that in the land of the Giants it doesn't even matter 86.173.99.118 (talk) 22:48, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
- Look, you're barking up the wrong tree. I don't add the flags because I care one way or the other but that flag icon is used, consistently, for Northern Irish teams and players on the English-language Wikipedia. This is consistent across sports and across numerous pages. I care about consistent style and usage across pages and, frankly, it makes pages look ugly if other sub-national divisions like Scotland, Wales, and England use flag icons but then NI is just empty space. Anyways, if this is a big enough issue for you, I suggest you make an account and try to build consensus on its usage, either on the page in question or more generally. Articles have talk pages where that can be discussed. GreenRunner0 00:40, 13 December 2023 (UTC)
Amateur sumo referees ≠ gyoji
[edit]Hi, I've deleted the part you added to the Gyōji article about amateur sumo referees. The latter are not gyoji, simply referees, so the addition is off-topic. The description of amateur referees would be better placed in an article on amateur sumo (an old WP:SUMO project) or directly on the Referee article. Cheers - OtharLuin (talk) 12:06, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- Politely, I disagree. I think its an acceptable addition for a notable but otherwise minor feature/version of a gyoji that is never going to gets its own article and has basically the same sport focused function at a professional sumo gyoji. I even put it in its own section to explicitly disambiguate them from the pros. I think your revert was too hasty and unilateral. GreenRunner0 16:31, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
Deletion discussion about Magnify (Remedy Drive album)
[edit]Hello GreenRunner0, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Magnify (Remedy Drive album), should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Magnify (Remedy Drive album).
Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Bastun}}
. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~
. Thanks!
