Vidya Balan

[edit]

The article looks good. Ask User:Dwaipayanc, Bollyjeff or IndianBio they are active in that area.--Tito Dutta (talk) 16:16, 5 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:Peer review/List of awards and nominations received by Vidya Balan/archive2, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A little explanation please

[edit]
Hi Greatuser. I'm a little concerned about some of your recent edits and I was hoping you might be able to explain them to me. It concerns primarily User:Great User, an unregistered account on Wikipedia. Now I understand that you'd like to make sure that it redirects to your page as part of a doppelgänger account, however you'll need to actually create the account before redirecting (or find an account creator to do it for you).

What concerns me more though, is this move. User talk pages should not be moved to user pages, especially when they are then instantly redirected. I'm hoping you'll be able to explain why that happened.

Finally, a small quibble, would you mind removing the orange bar from your userpage? I know the text is different, but it is sufficiently similar that it falls afoul of simulating the wikipedia interface, which is against policy. WormTT(talk) 11:26, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed the same thing but didn't bother to notify you. If you want the User page to redirect here, you should create the account, tag it as a doppelganger account, and then all is well. The current strategy is a bit of a policy violation. I also agree with the removal of the orange message bar. Vacationnine 22:43, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

FLC

[edit]

Regarding the FLC and the reason I closed it. This was primarily due to the fact that the previous nom had only been closed a few days earlier and the concerns raised there had not been addressed. Namely, the poor prose and formatting of the tables. You were encouraged to take the list to peer review, yet you did not. In its current state, the list is nowhere near featured standard. It requires an extensive copyedit of the prose by a native English speaker and the tables need to meet MOS:DTT. Please do this before you re nominate again. Also it is not good practice to revert my decision to close the FLC. Two other users raised concerns and for reasons outlined above I closed the discussion. As an FLC delegate I am allowed to do so. I understand you want to improve the. List and get it to feature standard, as we all do at FLC, but you to take our criticism on board. I look forward to seeing the list back at FLC after a peer review and copyedit. NapHit (talk) 13:12, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

May i ask you (native English speaker) to have a look through the page, please clear error in the page and copyedit the page? Because i want to let the page be a FLC. Greatuser (t@lk)My edits 08:39, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm currently travelling round Australia, so I have limited time on here at the moment. Due to this, I won't be able to copyedit the list. I suggest putting it up for peer review, although you won't get a full copyedit, you'll get a lot of good suggestions on how to improve the article. Good luck! Orphaned non-free media (File:Zakhmi Zameen 1990 Poster.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Zakhmi Zameen 1990 Poster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:25, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Help!

[edit]

What should be done, I still don't want to leave Wikipedia Its my favorite place on Internet. Please help me is there any solution to Re-join Wikipedia? Just offer me the last chance to Re-prove myself as good contributor. 182.183.200.79 (talk) 12:32, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The solution is the WP:Standard offer - make no new socks at all for six months (that can and will be checked), then re-apply for unblock from your primary account user Ali Mohammad Khilji (talk), explaining what you will do differently and what sort of edits you will make if unblocked. JohnCD (talk) 15:03, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
But I am not sock of Muhammad, I am the sock of Thomas.young234 (talk · contribs), Will i be unblocked if i try from Thomas after 6 months? 182.183.149.35 (talk) 04:46, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, and Thomas.young234 is a sock of Muhammad, or whatever. It's all just one big drawer full of socks. Now, 182.183.149.35 is also a sock, and using it to post here is a violation. Your best bet is to lay silent, and walk away from Wikipedia for six months. Go play football or something. Put an "X" on a calendar and come back then. You have zero chance of being unblocked before your time is up, and you will have zero chance after six months if you touch Wikipedia in the interim. Please drop Wikipedia and pick up a football and enjoy your youth. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:43, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and due to your reappearance, the clock starts now. Mark August 4, 2013 on your calendar. Now, think of what you want to do with the time. Wikipedia isn't everything. You can build a model boat, play with puppies, ask your mum to teach you to cook, train to break a Guinness World Record, learn kung fu, take up the harmonica. Your pick, but not Wikipedia. Turn this into a good thing. Enjoy your holiday. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:49, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Anna, no need of being condescending. For your information, IP editing is not WP:SOCK as long as it is not done deceptively. The clock starts from when the ban was imposed. Also, the editor(s) in question did not vandalise Wikipedia - indeed, he has made a lot of useful (albeit not always gramatically correct) contributions - as far as I am aware, his only fault was using sockpuppets to post barnstars to himself on his own Talk page. So, WP:EQ is binding here, too. Regards, kashmiri 08:26, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Forgive me. I didn't mean to be condescending. It was in good faith. I meant only to encourage him to seek other things to do, and to desist from trying to get unblocked before the 6 months.
I thought that when talk page access is removed, it's for a reason: so the editor can't edit it. To edit anyway as an IP seemed like socking to me. I guess I was wrong about that.
Also, about the time starting now, I was simply repeating what DoRD said above "...The six-month timer, of course, has been reset by the continued use of sock accounts....".
Again, I was only trying to help.
Finally, I didn't know that his only sock edits were to give himself barnstars. I can't exactly figure out how that may be after looking at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Ali Mohammad Khilji/Archive. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:32, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's okay :) (S)he did not use any sock account to post this request, so the clock has not been reset. Yeah, a WP:Wikibreak would be a good thing for him/her, although I now see intense IP edits to the articles he/she has been working on before the ban...
As to the reasons for block, you are correct, there were more of them, the most serious being creation of three hoax acrtiles related to Indian pop culture and creating dozens of sock accounts (many of them never used).
Let's wait for six months, and if the user does not breach Wikipedia rules, one of his/her accounts can be reinstated. Regards, kashmiri 08:58, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK I will come back on June/July 2013 and will make an unblock request now for 6 months bye bye Wikipedia. 182.183.144.226 (talk) 11:09, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Much as I hate to disagree with an experienced editor like Kashmiri, I feel it's necessary to point out that editing as an IP to circumvent a block is sockpuppetry, pure and simple. It is the person behind the account who is forbidden from editing Wikipedia, not the account itself; the block is a preventative measure to stop that person from editing. Editing as an IP is an attempt to evade the block, and as such, yes, the clock resets from today. August 4th - don't bother trying to appeal your block before that. You, the human being behind User:Greatuser (and User:Ali Mohammad Khilji, and User:Thomas.young234 and a bunch of others) are prohibited from editing Wikipedia, whether logged in or logged out. Yunshui  11:18, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Block may be extended if the user engages in further blockable behavior (WP:EVASION). Maybe you will disagree, but personally I don't see any sign of vandalism or ill will in his recent activity. Trying to steer clear of ABF. kashmiri 11:44, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid I do disagree. What we have here is a user who is deliberately and knowingly trying to edit despite being blocked and who has abused multiple accounts throughout his history with Wikipedia. AGF only goes so far; at this point, Greatuser/Ali/Thomas knows full well that he is not allowed to edit here, yet he persists in trying to find ways to do so. That's precisely the sort of disruption a block is intended to prevent. For the record, I've also blocked the above IP. Yunshui  11:52, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, my view is that this is his own talk page and we should not bother if and what he writes here for the coming six months unless he is vandalising Wikipedia articles. I personally see blocking access to his own talk page as serving no purpose whatsoever and of very little help in ensuring the quality of Wikipedia. See how much time is wasted on discussing just another IP entry here, on discussion of range blocks, etc. Did it contribute to the quality of any article? kashmiri 12:10, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
His talk page access was revoked not because he was blocked for sockpuppetry, but because he has persisted in posting unblock requests and other "admin help required" templates to his various sockpuppets' user talk pages, long after his procedurally guaranteed appeals have been exhausted. This abuse of process is disruptive in that it wastes the time of the administrators and other users he attracts to his page with these help templates. —Psychonaut (talk) 12:26, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The removal of talk page access prevents him from persisting in requesting unblocks.
I hate to see IP ranges blocked. The best thing is to seek his understanding. That is what I tried to do. Help him understand that he must detach from Wikipedia for a period of time. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:29, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, sorry to repeat Psychonaut. I didn't see. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:30, 4 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

copy and pasting to rename pages

[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Wikipedia:Article Incubator/I Love New Year a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into I Love New Year. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. 65.92.180.137 (talk) 05:57, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Greatuser (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I am trying six months options as said. I can't promise that my all edits will be useful but I can make articles improved not so much but a bit. In the beginning I treated Wikipedia ad a social sites deciding to make multiple accounts due to poor knowledge in Wikipedia. But now not so much but I can promise not to vandalize, Thank You 88.91.248.42 (talk) 11:35, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural, see also my comment below. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 14:04, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

(Non-administrator comment) Continuing to make multiple accounts but "not so much" does not seem like an undertaking sufficient to justify an unblock. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 12:10, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps "but now not so much" refers to his ignorance, not to how often he intends to create further accounts. GreatUser, could you please tell us whether you have used or created any further Wikipedia accounts in the past six months, and whether you expect to create any more accounts in the future? —Psychonaut (talk) 12:48, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I guess "but now not so much" is a mistake. Well, I can't prove that I haven't created socks in past six months. You or any other user might have checked that there has not been any similarity of me with any other user in past six months. If you have seen, I don't demand to be unblocked, Thank You 88.91.248.42 (talk) 18:59, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not asking you to prove that you haven't created any sockpuppets; I just wanted you to clarify your "but now not so much" statement. Anyway, it seems that your most recent sockpuppet investigation says that Afghanistan101 is a new sock of yours which was registered on 12 August. Did you create or use that account? —Psychonaut (talk) 19:32, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, at least see his/her edits. As already explained below "if I created sock(s), I was not here". Is this justification still not enough to be unblocked 88.91.248.42 (talk) 20:30, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

One more explaination

[edit]

If I created (a) sock(s) in past six months, I would not be here. I would have edited with my sock(s). I think I don't need to explain much more but still if it's not enough, I may be able to make more explanation 88.91.248.42 (talk) 19:09, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've declined your request, above, because you need to request an unblock for this account by editing from this account. I will unblock your access to your talk page for that purpose, as per WP:AGF - and will revoke that access if there are shenanigans. Second, could you do me a favor and list all of the accounts you created on this site? Thanks. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 14:06, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, on further review, I'm not unblocking your talk page. Since you were referred to the WP:BASC, you need to go through them to get unblocked. They gave you 6 months before re-applying, and that six months has expired, so you can go ahead and make your case. I would recommend that you start off by listing all of your socks and explaining what in the hell you were trying to accomplish. Then satisfy them that it will not happen again. Good luck. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:STAR-Parivaar-Awards-2012-300x300.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:STAR-Parivaar-Awards-2012-300x300.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:41, 26 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Love Breakups Zindagi (soundtrack).jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Love Breakups Zindagi#Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:10, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
