[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Tasos Georgiou Vatikiotis. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Wgolf (talk) 19:09, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
Thank you Wgolf. We tried to attempt to add references and links and they are all there modified. There are photos to be uploaded as well but account is too new to do now. Hopefully there are more savvy Wikipedians to help put all this together including all the personal information regarding age, place of birth, hometown, etc. Thank you.
HappySquirrel and ChamithN have clarified the items. Thanks in advance.
Goodfellabear, you are invited to the Teahouse!

About the orphan template
[edit]Hello. From your comments in edits summaries, I see you may not understand the purpose and meaning of orphan templates (and other templates). So I thought perhaps, instead of adding them over and over again, we should maybe have a little discussion here.
First of all, the orphan template simply means that no other articles contain links to this article. This is a problem because links are what glue Wikipedia together. A page with no links pointing to it is harder to find for readers and editors and risks remaining a little-used stub forever. We don't want that. We want every article to be all it can be. That is why we tag these articles. Orphan articles are listed this makes wikipedians more likely to find and fix this lack of links. This is why removing the tags without un-orphaning the article is disruptive. It means the problem is not fixed and no one knows about it.
Other maintenance tags, of which there are lots, work in much the same way. They let other wikipedians know there is work to be done. So basically, if you see a maintenance tag, and you think the improvement should be made, either do the improvement yourself, or leave the tag. Otherwise, there is less chance the article will improve. Happy Squirrel (talk) 22:38, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Re: Email
[edit]Hi there, you can use Template:Infobox football biography {{Infobox football biography}} to add an infobox to a football biography, in your case to Tasos Georgiou Vatikiotis. Just follow the instruction given on the template page. Also be careful when adding information to Wikipedia as you must be able to prove factual accuracy of your content. Always remember to follow Wikipedia:Five pillars and Read WP:RS for more details. Cheers! -- Chamith (talk) 16:15, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your efforts to edit Wikipedia. However, looking at your edits to (and reversions of my edits to) the article Tasos Georgiou Vatikiotis, you appear to have some significant misunderstandings of Wikipedia policies. I would encourage you to take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Here are a few comments to help you better understand some relevant policies:
- Your edit summary "this story has not been touched since it was edited by active wikipedians from the showcase team - please leave as is and do not disrespect" is misguided. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. Please remember that editors do not own articles (see WP:OWN) and should respect the work of their fellow contributors. If you create or edit an article, remember that others are free to change its content.
- My edits (which you reverted) had nothing to do with lack of respect. My edits to the article were my best effort to help improve the article to meet Wikipedia policies, in this case to remove content that is not noteworthy.
- Your edit summaries reference citations to few "mentions" of the article subject (Vatikiotis). Just because you have a cited reference to a brief news story (and Twitter?) doesn't mean the content is noteworthy. I see at the time the team on which Vatikiotis played was nationally ranked. However the cited reference says nothing about how Vatikiotis contributed to the team's national ranking.
- See WP:NCOLLATH. It seems the only references you can find are a handful of news stories (two of which seem to have the same content) that are brief summaries of a match where Vatikiotis is mentioned as having scored, and that Vatikiotis was on a Loyola "honor roll". I see that Vatikiotis played for a nationally ranked college team (Loyola) and a Greek first division team for a year or two but none of the references seem to have information about Vatikiotis other than he played for these teams and scored.
I'm sorry these comments probably sounds disrespectful to Vatikiotis and his teammates who have contributed to the article, but that is not my intent. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that anyone can edit; article subjects must meet Wikipedia notability guidelines; and article content should be noteworthy and support the notability of the subject. If you want information about the article subject posted on the Internet that you can control, I suggest you use something other than Wikipedia, such as some soccer-related web site, a blog, or a web site you create. --hulmem (talk) 07:24, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
thank you for your assistance Hulmem - HappySquirrel and ChamithN from the Teahouse and Volunteer teams have also been very helpful from the beginning - it's a very strong story with big names tagged as well as some that have unfortunately passed and from an era where not everything was on the internet - I will forward your message and contact information to our group.
