Hello, GoodRedeemer, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as At The Edge Of Everything, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on At The Edge Of Everything requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://steveroach.com/Music/discography.php?albumID=509. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Sources

[edit]

Please include inline citations in articles you edit on. Thanks. Placing a link to the sole source at the bottom is not sufficient. --Jennica / talk 04:18, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Darkest Before Dawn (2002 Album) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable / unsourced

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Neutrality

[edit]

Please remember to keep your prose at Wikipedia neutral and subjective. We do not describe albums this way:

It contains an essential chapter in the book of quiet, nourishing and graceful sound paintings.
- From your edit to New Life Dreaming

That type of language is wonderful if you're trying to sell the album, but not if you're trying to provide a neutral, subjective description. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:28, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Stream & Currents

[edit]

When creating new album articles, please only add disambiguators to the title only if needed. You created Streams & Currents (Steve Roach album) when Streams & Currents already existed as a redirect to Steve Roach. Instead of creating an article with the new title, you should have turned the redirect into the article you wanted to make. Let me know if I can help. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 19:39, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting

[edit]

Reception goes above the track listing, always. And please don't just copy the Personnel over to wikipedia. It has to be tweaked. All lowercased and remove the "by" part. See what I did to it here: Groove Immersion. This is formatting per to the album style guide: WP:MOSALBUM --Jennica / talk 03:30, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, i got it. Thanks. --GoodRedeemer (talk) 07:45, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there again, 2 more things. I'm noticing you use cite web to insert citations but sometimes you use the plain ref tags, which is fine, but they display as a bare link. You just have to add brackets like this: <ref>[https://www.discogs.com/Michael-Shrieve-Steve-Roach-The-Leaving-Time/release/25502 Discogs, The Leaving Time]</ref>
and also, in the opening sentence of the lead, you can omit "the" from this sentence "_____ is an album by the American ambient.." - I learned that while looking at "good article" reviews. thanks --Jennica / talk 07:30, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You're using the wrong dashes. Use – and not the longer one: —

Sourcing

[edit]

As you proceed with your project (a dubious one, I feel) to write about every album ever created by Steve Roach, I urge you to read Wikipedia's guide to reliable sources. Citing descriptions of the album or information about its success to Roach's own website is not valid; we need independent sources for such material. Also, copying album descriptions verbatim from Roach's website is expressly prohibited. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:26, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GoodRedeemer, I wanted to reach out because I've come across quite a few of your articles in my capacity as a New Page Reviewer. I wanted to make sure you were aware of the notability guidelines that pertain to music albums. In short an album must have multiple reviews (excluding press releases); won or been nominated for a major award; appeared on a national chart; been certified gold or higher; or otherwise satisfy one of the criteria on the list in that link in order to be eligible for a standalone entry in the encyclopedia. Otherwise, we will generally redirect the entry to the artist's page (it's possible it might be deleted entirely but my preference is to leave a redirect in place as a search term). Do you have secondary sources, chart info or other details that might help establish notability for these entries? For instance, At the Edge of Everything, Proof Positive (Steve Roach album), Core (Steve Roach album), Darkest Before Dawn (Steve Roach album), Well of Souls (album) (just to mention the first few I looked at) would all need more to establish notability, but before I redirect, I wanted to reach out and see if you might be able to ref up the entries so they can remain. Thanks! Innisfree987 (talk) 02:19, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Innisfree987. Steve Roach isn't enough popular artist like others artist in this genre and it's sad, many hidden gems he have. Unfortunately, these albums you mentioned do not have information about the chart infos and other details, but at least have AllMusic reviews (albums like Core, Darkest Before Dawn and Well of Souls). As you can see, many articles of Steve Roach's albums that i didn't create or modify don't have chart info and other details, but have AllMusic reviews and they remain here in Wikipedia. It will be sad if these articles of decent albums will be terminated, but you do what is right in your own sight. GoodRedeemer (talk) 14:53, 2 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply GoodRedeemer. I wanted to let you know that, after consulting with another new page reviewer, the main question seems to be whether or not Steve Roach's main entry passes Wikipedia's bar for notability, i.e. eligibility for an entry in the encyclopedia. For better or for worse, Wikipedia decides that based on recognition in reliable secondary sources; entries based on the personal esteem of WP editors violate the no original research policy. If Roach is underappreciated in the music press, the thing to do would be to lobby music journalists to write about him so that Wikipedia would have sufficient sources on which to base an entry. As it seems to me we do not presently have sufficient sources to write a full and balanced account of Roach, I have nominated Roach's page to the Article for Deletion process; you may wish to weigh in at that discussion, especially if you have other sources you can present to support the case for notability. In any case, once the status of the Roach main page is settled, that'll help with how to proceed with the album entries. Meanwhile all best, Innisfree987 (talk) 05:47, 3 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Update to let you know editors at AfD found some good sources so the discussion of the main page closed as keep. For now that means the thing to do is redirect any album entries that don't meet NALBUM to the main page, but I did want to point out, if you were interested, opening a "Steve Roach (discography)" page might be a possibility; probably the main Steve Roach page would need to be expanded first before a fork would really be justified but it's not implausible. And the track listings and references will be retained in the history of the redirect, so you can always retrieve them from there if you did end up making a discography page. If you have difficulty finding the history, let me know and I'll walk you through it. In the meantime, happy editing! Innisfree987 (talk) 23:37, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally--it seems these editors had good luck searching books.google.com, where apparently back issues of CMJ and Billboard are found. I've added the references they turned up to the applicable albums, and note that they were just searching Steve Roach--you might find more if you searched for specific album titles, and thus be able to gather more sources to establish notability for more albums. Hope that helps! Innisfree987 (talk) 02:17, 11 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2017 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, GoodRedeemer. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
