merger/copyvio issues
[edit]If you don't agree with my proposal, say so on the discussion page, don't just delete the merger tag. Wikipedia functions on a consensus basis. Also, the poems you are adding to the page are probably copyrighted, you should make sure they can be reprinted here or you risk exposing the Wikimedia Foundation to legal action. [edit]I had just begun to create this page and you had immediately interrupted the page with a merger tag. That was not very polite. The poems are not copyrighted as they have appeared on a public domain website run by Paul Marsden MP (all three poems) and subsequently published in The Guardian and Daily Mail between 2003 and 2004.
See Paul Marsden's Blog.

Disambiguation link notification for April 3
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Harmers wood, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page St Paul's Church. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:56, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
Hello, Goldwrite. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Harmers wood, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

- Sorry I’m perplexed. The content was my translation + changes of the Italian Wikipedia page of the same place - Roman Villa Desenzano. Is that a breach of copyright? Goldwrite (talk) 11:00, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- Can you please reinstate the page I wrote? I spent many hours researching, translating and uploading my own photos given freely and producing an English version of the equivalent Italian Wikipedia site. I created it in good faith and no copyrighted material was used as far as I know (unless a Wikipedia page in another language is copyrighted). Failing that please send me the content and I’ll add to an alternative encyclopaedia page.
- Thank you. Paul Goldwrite (talk) 11:32, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- I did check for a corresponding page on the Italian Wikipedia but could not find it. Please provide a link. Thanks. — Diannaa (talk) 14:48, 9 June 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you. It's okay to copy/translate from other-language Wikipedias, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of the license. And doing so will prevent people like me from deleting the copied material by mistake.I've added the attribution for this particular instance as well as placed a

template on the article talk page. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 21:19, 9 June 2024 (UTC)- Thank you Diannaa for your understanding and advice. Much appreciated. Paul Goldwrite (talk) 19:00, 10 June 2024 (UTC)
