Binomial number

Hello. Please note that in a section heading the initial "n" in "number" above should be lower-case, per Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Michael Hardy 21:32, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Asociacion Escuelas Lincoln, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.ediplomat.com/np/schools/buenosaires.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 04:03, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IP vandalism

[edit]

Thanks for you meesage and I can confirm that you did exactly the right thing. After reverting any clear vandalism an appropriate warning should be placed on the users talk page or ip addresses talk page. If that ip address does any more vandalism in the near future then an admin will block that ip address for a period of time as a preventative measure. Generally, unless they are doing a lot of vandalism over a short period, a block is only done after a final warning has been issued.

If you spot such vandalism, after a final warning has been put on the talk page, then it is best to report it on WP:AIV where an admin will check and then issue a block (usually a lot quicker than contacting a particular admin who might not see the message for a while). Generally IP addresses should be treated the same as registered users if they are vandalising. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. -- Davewild (talk) 18:02, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Asociacion Esculas Lincoln Crest.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Asociacion Esculas Lincoln Crest.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:46, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

trisection

This does not seem to work. I take a 3 inch segment, follow the instructions and end up with a 1.2656 inch segment at the end. I would expect a 1 inch segment, based on my understanding of "trisecting a segment".

Request for edit summary

[edit]

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field - please fill in your new section's name instead. Logistics dept

[edit]

You may not be aware that we've set up a logistics dept at Milhist. We desperately need linguists to help with translations of snippets, not full articles, snippets. Can you help with Portuguese? It will help globalize our sources and add non-Anglophone perspective. If so, the details are here. If you find yourself overwhelmed you can always drop out. Your participation would be ever so much appreciated ... All the best, --ROGER DAVIES talk 00:01, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tropical mathematics

[edit]

In this edit, the inappropriate capitalization of the initial m in mathematics would have virtually guaranteed you a red link even if the article tropical mathematics (with a correctly lower-case initial m rather than an incorrectly capitalized initial M) had already existed. As it is, both tropical Mathematics (your link) and tropical mathematics now redirect to tropical geometry, an article that's been there for a while. I was going to add your link to Bernd Sturmfels' paper on the arxiv, but I saw that it was already there. Michael Hardy (talk) 17:21, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any way to trim out some of the whitespace in the image so that the total dimensions of the image can be shrunken? I would also like to change the placement of the image in the article to a place where it serves a more informative role. It should either be in the lead, or next to the part of the article which discusses the helix or kinematics of the TNB frame. siℓℓy rabbit (talk) 17:27, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Gabriel's Horn (animated).gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. MGA73 (talk) 21:48, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Goldencako, there seems to be a problem about a BLP on Antonio Petrus Kalil, that relies on Portuguese sources. The article is about a Brazilian operator of an illegal lottery. Someone apparently from Kalil's family is objecting to the content.

There are some serious allegations in the article and there are worries that (a) that the article doesn't go beyond the sources, and (b) that the sources are high quality. If you have any time to look that would be very helpful. There's a section on talk that starts at Talk:Antonio_Petrus_Kalil#BLP_concern, though it's quite long to read, and a list of the sources the article currently uses at Talk:Antonio_Petrus_Kalil#Current sources.

It would be helpful to have an uninvolved Portuguese speaker from Rio de Janeiro overseeing what's going on, even if it's just to comment occasionally. If you're too busy to take a look, I understand, so feel free to ignore the request. Have a happy new year. - DonCalo (talk) 15:56, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

My name is Victor and I work with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. We're chronicling the inspiring stories from the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade new people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who use Wikipedia have so much to share. It's important to convey the incredible diversity of people who've come to rely upon Wikipedia every day.

I'd really like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia.

I will be in Rio de Janeiro on the 6th, 7th and 8th of March 2012, and i'll be attending:

Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project!

Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge ‎ has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:34, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
