On Posessives and Contractions

[edit]

According to Possessive pronoun, the possessive form of "it" has no apostrophe, either between the t and s, or as a suffix to the word. I saw this in Banshee (Halo). BonzoESC 18:22, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Right, I fixed it. --OGoncho 18:26, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Funny, somebody called me on the same thing a couple months ago. C'est la vie. BonzoESC 18:32, 11 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Halo reference

[edit]

You've recently made a number of edits and additions to pages in the Halo universe. Let me know if you'd like to help me out with some of these pages. Or was it just a passing fancy? :) LockeShocke 13:41, Nov 22, 2004 (UTC)

I set up a little /directory of my user page. Swing by, if you don't mind: Make contributions to WikiPedia's pages on Halo. Click here.

7 Halos?

[edit]

Are you sure there are 7 Halos? Oh, well I guess thinking about it now I wouldn't be surprised, with Bungie's obsession with the number 7. I just thought I remembered 2401 or 343 talking about "The six installations" sometime in Halo 2. Maybe this is at the very end after the countdown has stopped and he says "the other six installations [have gone on standby]." Quick someone go beat the game and watch the end cinematic and report back :) LockeShocke 02:46, Nov 25, 2004 (UTC)

I sencerely remember seven at least being implied if not spoken outright, I will check, though. --OGoncho 03:39, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
I just beat the last level. When asked what Halo does, 343GS says, "Well, collectively, the seven..." before Tatarus interupts. --OGoncho 04:43, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)
You beat me to it, I was just about to post that. Haha... LockeShocke 05:06, Nov 25, 2004 (UTC)
It took you guys that long to beat halo 2? Bonus Onus 00:48, Apr 7, 2005 (UTC)

Engineer

[edit]

Hey, thanks so much for posting that picture of the Engineer from halo. Did you find that picture online or did you mod the game and take a screenshot? I was going to do that, because a while ago I made a mod where the engineer was swapped in, but it looks like you beat me to it. Bonus Onus 01:49, Apr 6, 2005 (UTC)

I found a screenshot from someone else's mod here. Also, I noticed the same shot being used in this Bungie employee's slide show.--OGoncho 08:55, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Aha. interesting. Its a nice picture. Usually in the game, the engineer would like fall into the ground. Bonus Onus 00:47, Apr 7, 2005 (UTC)

It this really an image of Crayak? I don't remember seeing this image on or inside any of the books. JarlaxleArtemis 00:42, May 20, 2005 (UTC)

Hmm, I found it in my Animorphs folder and assumed it was a real picture, but I guess it was probably some fan-art I found and liked. Should the image be removed? --OGoncho 03:35, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
No, I think it can stay. JarlaxleArtemis 00:24, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

MAC Cannon

[edit]

Why did you delete the Halo category from MAC cannon? I think it deserves a spot. DevastatorIIC 16:52, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Because it already has "United Nations Space Command" which is a subcategory of "Halo". If this has been an error on my part, I apologize. --OGoncho 23:23, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Manual of Style

[edit]

You removed the title of the article from the first sentence of History of Ireland. Please note that the Wikipedia Manual of Style suggests the opposite:

If possible, make the title the subject of the first sentence of the article (as opposed to putting it in the predicate). For example, write "This Manual of Style is a style guide" instead of "This style guide is known as the Manual of Style". In any case, the title should appear as early as possible in the article — preferably in the first sentence.

I reverted the change, but you might want to read the whole manual. Thanks for your contributions, and happy editing! --Craig Stuntz 13:46, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Bmw logo02.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bmw logo02.JPG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -Shannernanner 04:06, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Vegemorphs

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Vegemorphs, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Vegemorphs seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Vegemorphs, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 19:26, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to Meetup/Seattle6, a focus group

[edit]

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington (Seattle campus), and my group is reaching out to Wikipedians in the Puget Sound area. We're hosting a focus group designed to gather information on what Wikipedians would like to know about each other when interacting on Wikipedia. Our end goal is to create an embedded application that helps people quickly know more about others' history and activity on Wikipedia, and we feel our design will be much more useful if it's based on insights of users like you.

I'm hoping that the chance to help out local researchers, to engage in lively face-to-face discussion with other Seattle Wikipedians, and to contribute to Wikipedia in a new way will entice you to join us. The session lasts 2 hours and snacks are provided - one is April 8 (Wednesday) starting at 6 pm and the other is April 18 (Saturday) starting at 10 am. (Sessions will be held on UW Seattle campus - directions will be sent after registration.) Your contribution will be greatly appreciated!

Willing and able to help us out? RSVP here. Want to know more? Visit our user talk page . Please help us contact other local Wikipedians, too! Commprac01 (talk) 00:06, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello OGoncho! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. Fair use rationale for File:Chaosisland-gamecover.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Chaosisland-gamecover.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:39, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
