R v Ingram
Thanks for confirming what I had thought about R v Ingram, Ingram and Whittock. It came about from User:Adam37 going about legal articles on Wikipedia and making what seemed to me to be some very odd changes. You might want to check his pattern and see if there's anything else that might need to be corrected. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 07:20, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
- @The C of E: Yeah, the random example cheque there had me confused. The infobox image for court cases is typically going to be a seal or a coat of arms. I've taken a cursory look at their contributions, and I'm seeing a mix of good, clarifying copyedits with some unusual or maybe overwrought choices of phrasing. One potential concern here is whether the rephrased content is still reflecting the sources and whether those sources are even being consulted in the revision process. gobonobo + c 19:23, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Our Twitter conversation about SDGs
Hello, I thought I might pop over here to follow up on our conversation on Twitter. Thanks for your replies on twitter! Would there be enough articles about the SDGs to warrant a category and a navbox? What would you put in the navbox, I am curious. (you could reply either here or on the talk page of SDGs). Thanks! - I think that older discussion about deleting the SDG 3 article is now obsolete because the SDG 6 article (which I created several years ago) has proven that a good stand-alone article is useful. Do you think I should go back to the SDG 3 discussion from 2015 though and somehow rekindle it? By the way, did you notice the planned edit-a-thon about SDGs here. I hope it'll be a successful event! EMsmile (talk) 14:41, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
- @EMsmile: I've made the category at Category:Sustainable Development Goals. I might hold off on the navbox for the moment. If we do end up having articles for each of the SDGs, it would be helpful for navigation. I'm thinking something very simple, like this:
- I wouldn't try to revisit the SDG 3 discussion. If you look at the redirects of the newly created SDGs, [1], the rationale left in the edit summary is
"unnecessary split. Also Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sustainable Development Goal 3, which I'd consider as applying in principle and still relevant."
My sense is that a fuller, detailed article like Sustainable Development Goal 14 wouldn't be redirected because it has ample prose and references that specifically concern that goal. Generally, if the article looks fleshed out, like SDG 6 with photos and sections, it will be more likely to be kept. The ratio of prose to cut-and-paste text will matter too, I think. One option might be to approach that editor directly and ask them what they are looking for. And, yes, I hope the event will be successful too—SDGs are quite important. gobonobo + c 15:03, 14 August 2020 (UTC)- Thanks, I agree. The way forward then is to add more prose and references that are specific to that SDG. However, I am still undecided if the user would find a full list of targets (usually around 10) for each SDG useful (like it's done here) or only a truncated list. At the moment, I am leaning to the full list but I am undecided. EMsmile (talk) 05:22, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- @EMsmile: I think either way could work. You could probably even drop in the two-column chart for all the targets and indicators in there if you wanted. gobonobo + c 14:18, 17 August 2020 (UTC)

New Page Patrol Granted
Hi Gobonobo. Based on your experience at Articles for Creation and because you have the autopatrol permission, I have added you to the "New page reviewers
" user group for three months. Please check back at WP:PERM if you would like to make it permanent. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. The culture around NPP is a bit different than AFC. So, before doing any new page patrols you need read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
- This allows you to "unreview" an accepted article from AFC to allow a second look while in mainspace. To do this simply click the green check after accepting an article from AFC.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 02:23, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
