Practice Squad

I added the first PS player to the Chiefs' roster, but the count update isn't showing up. How come? This is why I said we should have stuck with the old format. RevanFan (talk) 17:08, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

I have fixed it and you should not be so quick to hate change. Change is good. Eagles 24/7 (C) 17:40, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

I need some help

I don't know how I should edit the Bucs page right now, Rudy Carpenter and others were cut but resigned, should I keep them in the released column since they were technically released or take them out and remove the cut cut sign from there names? What do you suggest? OneBucPerson 00:52, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

I'm confused by what you mean. Could you clarify?--Giants27(T|C) 01:21, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
He's referring to 2011 Tampa Bay Buccaneers season in the roster changes section, which, IMO, is a little unnecessary to begin with. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:08, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Roster

Repost from RevanFan talk page - No, I thought the agreement was WP:V, which trumps NFL rules. If the number can be verified then it can be placed. Jackson and Witherspoon still have a number and I assume a locker (both were on the active roster last season and played in a game). Some numbers have to be repeated for certain reasons and you would have to ask the Giants why they gave out #22 and #29. Maybe they will get IS's or they will be back next year wearing different numbers or the same (if Martin and/or Williams are not back), who knows. Ositadinma 19:20, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Since when are NFL templates about truth, that violates WP:V, which encompasses the entire WP not just non-NFL templates. Ositadinma 19:24, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
They've always been about truth over verifiability when it comes to numbers. Numbers are tough to verify, especially for players no longer listed on the roster template. However, per NFL rules (which are verifiable), two players cannot share the same number, on IR or not. So, whether you assume they have lockers or not, the fact is that they can't have the same number. The templates have always operated this way.--Giants27(T|C) 19:26, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
So what your saying is that two players on any part of the roster cannot have the same number except during the offseason when it is spilt between off/def? Ositadinma 19:30, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
I am, yes. If you've noticed, numbers for players on IR are removed when somebody on the active roster takes that number.--Giants27(T|C) 19:33, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Okay, one final quick end of the world question. What if Manning goes on IR and somebody else takes his number (which will never happen cuz of jersey sales, but if just if) does the truth still apply. Ositadinma 19:40, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Haha, per NFL rules only one person could have it, so if Peyton went to IR and they gave out 18, he'd be numberless.--Giants27(T|C) 19:44, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Taj Smith

The sources i've found, including the Colts webpage, point to him being waived, saying nothing about him being placed on Injured Reserve. ESPN and NFL.com also show him being waived. Where are you getting that he is still a a member of the Colts? 99.169.250.133 (talk) 19:55, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Pro Football Weekly, the official transaction wire of the league, has him as being waived/injured, which means he reverts to IR once he clears waivers, until he receives an injury settlement, which he has yet to receive. He's still a member of the Colts for now. Every site out there, minus PFW, is usually wrong when it comes to transactions.--Giants27(T|C) 20:00, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Ahh ok! Thanks! 99.169.250.133 (talk) 20:06, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

WTF

WTF, Goff out for season, just tears his ACL. Injuries are piling up. Can Mitchell even play MLB in a 4-3!?! Ositadinma 22:18, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Man, your Giants may be screwed this year. RevanFan (talk) 23:01, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Gonna be a fun year. </sarcasm>--Giants27(T|C) 23:05, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

The article Cedric Thornton has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A practice squad player is not presumed notable. Per WP:NGRIDIRON, you must play atleast one regular-season game. Re-create if and when they play a game

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bgwhite (talk) 07:42, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Figured. He made the 53-man out of camp, which is when I created the article, but was released and re-signed to the practice squad. I won't be contesting, since I know he's not notable now, so I'll just re-create when he goes back up. Cheers,--Giants27(T|C) 10:38, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Your user name

Does the 27 in your user name represent Brandon Jacobs? WayneSlam 23:25, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

It does, haha.--Giants27(T|C) 23:25, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Cool. If you look at my user page, I am a Giants and Yankees fan just like you. WayneSlam 23:28, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Good to find yet another Giants fan here, haha. Too bad we're probably going to be quite bad this year.--Giants27(T|C) 23:29, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
It's because we lost a lot of players on defense such as Terrell Thomas. Eli better not throw 25 interceptions like he did last year. He says he's a top five quarterback. WayneSlam 23:30, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
You said it. Losing Goff doesn't help the cause either. Even if/when he does repeat that performance from last year, I'm afraid that Eli's play won't have a ton of bearing on how they do. We're just not as good as the Eagles or even the Cowboys.--Giants27(T|C) 23:32, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
The Eagles have been talked about as the Dream Team. It all started with Vince Young. The Giants also lost Steve Smith and Kevin Boss. The Eagles may win the division since they got Vick, DeSean Jackson and Nnamdi as well as others. But I hope the Giants do better. We'll see on Sunday. We may not win the division since the Eagles are too good but we should be a wild card. WayneSlam 23:37, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Eh, I don't know. Right now, I envision the Giants going 7-9 with the Cowboys finishing in 2nd. Eagles, Packers, Lions, Saints, Falcons, and Cardinals in the playoffs. While I do hope we finish in second to Philadelphia, obviously, I can't see them being better than Detroit or the Saints/Falcons. It'll be tough.--Giants27(T|C) 23:39, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, especially with the injuries they have. They can't afford any more. They have to face teams like the Patriots and the Jets since the NFC East plays the AFC East this year. WayneSlam 23:42, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

At least that means we face the Bills, haha. For us, week 9-17 will kill us. If by that point, we are not like 5-2 or 6-1, we will have no chance at making the playoffs.--Giants27(T|C) 23:45, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, we can't do anything about it. Hope we acquire some key free agents after the season to help make this team better. We should have gotten Plaxico back but he went to the Jets instead. There weren't any OTA's and a lot of practice time due to the lockout. WayneSlam 00:16, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
