question on your commons category project

Hi Gi vi an, I don't understand why you are automatically creating commons categories for ALL artists you encounter. Some of them, like Mildred Rackley have died fairly recently and their work won't be in public domain for many years. It seems like you are creating categories that will be empty. Can you add a parameter for death before 1950? Just curious about the purpose of your project. Could you let me know? Best. WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 15:15, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

hello @WomenArtistUpdates: henceforth i will stop creating categories. i should have asked before creating on commons. Gi vi an (talk) 03:46, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the response! I think it best if you don't create commons categories for artists who are not in the public domain. If you DO run across any women artists who, as of 2021, died before 1950 and don't have any works in the Commons, please feel free to ping me and we can work on trying to get some images uploaded to the Commons. Their work would be in public domain. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Also, if you are focusing on women, you might want to check out the Wikipedia project Women in Red. There you will find all sorts of projects and events. If it interests you, you are welcome to join the group by clicking on the "Participate" button. You will get occasional messages updating you on events. The talk page has some lively conversation too.
You may specifically like to look over an event that happens every January Public domain.

WP Women's History

Thanks, Gi vi an, for your work on the talk pages of the biographies of women artists. I see you have been adding WP Women's History to quite a few women who have recently been active. The wikiproject is normally reserved for women who were active in the first half of the 20th century or earlier unless they were notable for the field of women's history itself. For women who have been active more recently, it is useful to add WP women as contributors following the project's talk page can see if articles are threatened with deletion, etc. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 08:48, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

@Ipigott first half of the 20th century or earlier unless they were notable for the field of women's history itself. understood. how do i add WP women as contributors? Gi vi an (talk) 10:43, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
In most of the recent talk pages where you've added WP Women's History, I've substituted WP Women. See wp:WP Women.--Ipigott (talk) 12:29, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
@Ipigott thank you. i will look into it. Gi vi an (talk) 14:18, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
