Speedy deletion nomination of Texas Theater in Shamrock[edit]

A tag has been placed on Texas Theater in Shamrock requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://countystarnews.com/news/2015/072315/pageA1.pdf. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Copyright[edit]

On the article's talk page you stated that you wrote the article at CSN, however Wikipedia cannot accept claims made on the talk page. You would need to file a ticket at WP:ORTS and show that you own the copyrights to the newspaper article, which might be difficult since some newspapers will possess the article's copyright rather than the author - however this is something that OTRS can help you resolve. I do need to caution you, however, that filing the ticket will mean that the text will become fair use, so make sure that you're aware of this before filing. Also, be somewhat careful about taking text directly from the source. Newspaper articles can contain personal opinions, original research, and other things that aren't entirely appropriate for a Wikipedia article.

Mostly though, you need to ensure that the theater would pass notability guidelines. The problem with the article in the CSN is that since you are the theater's owner, this would not count as a reliable source that could show notability. This is because you are directly related to the theater and as such, this is a WP:PRIMARY source. What you need is to show that the theater has received coverage in independent and reliable sources like newspaper articles where other people have written about the company.
