In order to remain listed at Wikipedia:Requests for comment, at least two people need to show that they tried to resolve a dispute with this user and have failed. This must involve the same dispute with a single user, not different disputes or multiple users. The persons complaining must provide evidence of their efforts, and each of them must certify it by signing this page with ~~~~. If this does not happen within 48 hours of the creation of this dispute page (which was: 23:33, 27 March 2007 (UTC)), the page will be deleted. Statement of the dispute

[edit]

Doktor Who is strongly suspected of being a sockpuppet of Sky-surfer, who is known as a sockpuppet of User:Brian G. Wilson.

By his own admission Sky-surfer is known to suffer from a paranoid psychiatric condition which has had a negative impact on his ability to adhere to WP editing conventions (examples here and here).

Doktor Who, Milomedes and Parzival418 have been used to facilitate longterm, chaotic disruption of Wikipedia through co-ordinated me-too postings intended to create the illusion of consensus at Talk:Ambient_music, Talk:New Age music and Talk:Space music.

The intention of this activity is to (a) confuse outside observers, and (b) promote the inclusion of non-mainstream WP:OR by the puppetmaster into the named articles.

Doktor Who, Milomedes and Parzival418 share:

1. identical unverifiable non-mainstream opinions
2. identical writing style (always convoluted, often irrational, frequently semi-coherent and sometimes totally incoherent)
3. identical use of unique/strange terminology and definitions
4. identical grammatical and spelling inconsistencies
5. identical tendencies towards incivility and tendentious editing
6. identical consistent failure to comply with WP:V, WP:OR and WP:CIVIL

It also appears that Doktor Who, Milomedes and Parzival418 share the same southern European cultural origins, and speak English as a second language - hence the shared linguistic inconsistencies evident in their postings. --Gene_poole 02:47, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Desired outcome

[edit]

Blocking of all sockpuppet accounts and adherence by account owner to WP polices - particularly WP:V, WP:OR and WP:CIVIL.

Evidence of disputed behavior

[edit]
  1. Name-calling, rudeness, incivility by Doktor Who in April 2007.
  2. Name-calling, rudeness incivility (again) by Doktor Who in April 2007.
  3. Sockpuppetry, incivility and use of profanity by Doktor Who in March 2007 - compare to near identical assertion posted by Brian G. Wilson in June 2006.
  1. Identical user talk page introductory paragraph demonstrates that Sky-surfer here and Doktor Who here are the same person. Note that despite his obvious use of sockpuppetry, Doktor Who accuses others who disagree with him of using sockpuppets - typical WP:POT behaviour.
  1. Use of sock accounts to create "me-too" talk page discussions giving false impression of consensus, while simultaneously attacking Gene Poole. Note identical verbose, stilted writing style used by all contributors as Dr Who posts to Milomedes, Milomedes responds to Dr Who, Parzival418 responds to Milomedes and Milomedes responds to Parzival418.
  2. Promotion of original research. Note this bizarre example of rambling, semi-coherent prose promoting unverifiable original research by Milomedes. Compare writing style and content with this similarly bizarre, collection of unverifiable assertions from Sky-surfer
  3. Sockpuppets and anonymous IPs used to subvert WP:3RR at New Age music:
23:45, 29 March 2007 Puppetmaster uses Parzifal418 to delete external link using edit summary "Undid rv promotional non-notable external link".
23:59, 29 March 2007 Gene Poole restores link.
00:24, 30 March 2007 Puppetmaster logs out and uses 212.34.226.249 to revert Gene Poole using identical edit summary as before: "Undid rv promotional non-notable external link".
01:50, 30 March 2007 Gene Poole restores link.
01:57, 30 March 2007 Puppetmaster logs back in as Doktor Who and reverts Gene Poole again.
02:38, 30 March 2007 Gene Poole restores link for third time.
02:43, 30 March 2007 Puppetmaster uses Doktor Who to revert for the fourth time.
  1. Use of common invented/nonsense terminology and mis-spelled words reveals that all the sock accounts that are the subject of this RFC share a common puppetmaster, who does not speak English as a primary language. (links to diffs to be added) -
Consense - nonsense word apparently derived from English "consensus" - invented and used by Milomedes.
Consensed - nonsense word apparently derived from English "consensus" - invented and used by Milomedes.
Laughingsocks - bizarre nonsense word invented and used by Milomedes and Parzifal418 in various "me-too" sock talkpage discussions.
Anonimous - mis-spelling used by Sky-surfer and Doktor Who.
Ridicolous - mis-spelling used by Sky-surfer and Doktor Who.
Becouse - mis-spelling used by Sky-surfer and Doktor Who.
Album spacemusic - nonsense term invented by Milomedes as original research.
Hill-Turner spacemusic - nonsense term invented by Milomedes as original research.
Classic version - used to refer to an unreferenced, semi-coherent earlier version of Space music largely written by Milomedes. Considered by the puppetmaster to be a "perfect version" of this article. Removal of nonsense from article by Gene Poole precipitated current campaign of harrassment, personal attacks etc by pupptmaster through various sock accounts.
  1. Planned subversion of the 3RR and yet more "me-too" talk between socks here.
  2. Subversion of the 3RR at Ambient music:
  1. Another example of sockpuppet "me-too" commentary: Milomedes posts this incoherent/off topic comment at talk:New Age music. Parzifal418 then excitedly chimes in to express his total agreement. Given that the comment eliciting such enthusiastic approval is almost totally incomprehensible, it is clear that both comments were written by the same person.

Other users who endorse this summary

[edit]
  1. I endorse Gene Poole's view on the probability that

...... is a sockpuppet of the following two editors

However, I have no opinions of/on/about, or wish to discuss anything about any of the other editors mentioned in the RfC. Consequently, I neither "endorse" or "do not endorse" the comments made by Gene Poole on users Milomedes or Parzival418.

I first became involved with Doktor Who on the Space music talkpage, specifically on the following two threads : Help , Vandalism.

I found his views on space/ambient music, the nature of Wikipedia, and his apparent lack of a sense of humour or irony very peculiar. After being alerted by Gene Poole that the tone of his posts bore a striking similarity to those of the two editors mentioned above, I did some research myself, and concurred.

After I discovered a couple of strange conversations he had participated in with another editor (who has nothing to do with any of this) here and here, and after he initiated a series of petty complaints against me (and Gene Poole) to a variety of Wiki complaint areas, I decided to have nothing more to do with him.

For a short while afterwards, he intruded upon an article on which I regularly vandal-patrol here and here (he had never edited them before these events), and reverted material on an article I had very recently expanded here and here. And on the article's talkpage here, here, and here. I was also amused to find that he had actually made a complaint to another editor that I had dared to correct his reversion here. The editor's reply is here.... Gardener of Geda | Message Me.... 18:59, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
