The Office
[edit]199 amazing episodes done. Two left to go! These last few full-hours have been really great! (Andy kinda ruined "A.A.R.M.", but beyond that!) It's gonna be sad to see it leave. :( Are you gonna work on making previous seasons be good articles? -- NoD'ohnuts (talk) 02:52, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! I've been extremely busy lately though, which is why my work on the finale page has been very little haha. My only hope is to bring up Niagara, and other big episodes like it to good articles. If I were you, I'd definitely go with season seven btw. But it's up to you! -- NoD'ohnuts (talk) 21:04, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Awesome! That'd be great if we could do that. By the way, great job on all you've done on The X Files! What do you think we should do for the character pages? Their kind of a huge mess, so it would definitely be difficult. -- NoD'ohnuts (talk) 00:30, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- Great! I'd prefer to work on Jim's page, but beyond that you can get first pick. And you're right. The only above-average character pages are Michael and Dwight, and even then it's sad. Hopefully we can get them to a good state. How many of the main characters do you want to work on? Should we include Andy or Ryan or any of the others? -- NoD'ohnuts (talk) 02:12, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
- Awesome, I'd like that idea! You can pick for Michael and Dwight, since I chose Jim already. But how 'bout that finale? -- NoD'ohnuts (talk) 02:38, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Sorry, jumping in here. Firstly, great job to both of you with the episode articles! I can't believe the series is finally ending... I like the idea of improving the character articles, and have been wanting to improve Karen Filippelli's article for a while (it's a mess). Thoughts on collaborating to bring as many as possible up to snuff? Ruby 2010/2013 02:47, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

AT episode list GAN
[edit]Hey, I saw you nominate List of Adventure Time episodes for good article stats, but I have some concern. The good article criteria state that stand-alone lists cannot be good articles and instead should be nominated for featured lists. Doesn't that article count as a stand-alone list? A-class review and projects
[edit]I've left comments at Wikipedia:WikiProject The X-Files A-Class review/Millennium (The X-Files)/archive1. It's the only episode on there that I have seen. I also didn't know if you were still interested in working on Buffy, since I got burnt out on Doctor Who and don't have much else to work on. I have started working on the reception of season 1 articles again. Anyways, happy summer! Glimmer721 talk 18:35, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre
[edit] Hello! Now, some of you might be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along. A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk) This message was sent out by --EdwardsBot (talk) 01:04, 4 June 2013 (UTC) |

[edit]Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article, specifically Colonist (The X-Files), may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. Belated reply
[edit]Sorry for the late reply, I'm rather busy at the moment and can't seem to find much time! Reviewers are in short supply, to be honest. I tend to have the same few people whom I ask to look things over; the best way to get reviews (in theory) is to review other articles at PR or FAC. Some reviewers are more inclined to look at articles by those who review themselves, but this is not always reliable. It may be worth asking people who've reviewed before to do so again, although as you say it is generally good not to have to pester them. But reviewers generally are scarce; good copy-editors even more so. Possibly hanging around at FAC and seeing who reviews or copy-edits regularly may be another way forward. I'm certainly always happy to help, but I cannot always guarantee a prompt response, particularly at the moment! Sarastro1 (talk) 22:58, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Article Feedback Tool update
[edit]Hey Gen. Quon. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.
We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.
Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:39, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:AdventureTimeSeason2.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:AdventureTimeSeason2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 19:37, 8 September 2013 (UTC)

- Thanks. I was kinda blind-sided by a lot of this, but I realize that issues that need to be fixed should be called out. I just could do without some of the ad hominem attacks.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 18:51, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, that was uncalled for. My understanding is that the blog author and your GA reviewer had already been going at it for several weeks in various forums (resulting in a block of the blogger and his furious resignation from Wikipedia) before your article became a convenient way to seek revenge. That's why the tone is so nutso even when the points are good. Obviously those errors did need to be fixed, and the article delisted for now, but this wouldn't have turned into such a contretemps without those personalities being predisposed to ugliness. Sorry you found yourself caught in the middle of it; geologists are a rougher bunch than I would have thought! -- Khazar2 (talk) 21:16, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

- Yeah, it has. Strangely, there were a few "supports" on it. Oh well... I'll just renominate it... in a month (maybe I can talk to the delegates and see if I can renominate them quicker, since there weren't any glaring errors).--Gen. Quon (Talk) 23:16, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Smells like Nirvana - FAC?
[edit]What do you think about taking Smells Like Nirvana to FA? As the likely major contributor on it, you should clearly have say, but I'd be happy to run the nomination for it if you don't have time/interest in doing that. I haven't checked the article against some of the basic checks (sourcing, ref formatting, etc.), but in terms of content and writing, I think the rest of it is there and ready to go (short of any possible copyediting). --MASEM (t) 01:47, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Adventure Time
[edit]While I'm pretty sure you're wrong about what you put in your edit summary about your reason for reverting my edit in the Adventure Time article, why don't you take the time to actually LOOK at the changes I made. There were 25 instances of commas going after quotation marks in that article and most of them were for episode titles. In any case, I know for a fact you are wrong, read any professional writings out there and you can see that I'm right, commas do not go after quotations, and after I'm done leaving this message I do plan on bringing this up on that page's designated talk page. –Nahald (talk) 02:00, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Quick FL question
[edit]The FL instructions say that "Users should not add a second featured list nomination until the first has gained substantial support and reviewers' concerns have been substantially addressed." That implies that you should do one at a time, or at least wait until a list is near promotion before nomming another. Then again, you're not supposed to call good users unproductive either, and that didn't seem to stop this person. I don't know why I keep editing here sometimes. Anyway, I trust your judgment, and you can always seek out a co-nominator if necessary, like you did with the two X-Files FACs (I returned to the first one, BTW). GAN December 2013 Backlog Drive
[edit] Hello! A GAN Backlog Drive will begin in less than 4 days! In past Backlog Drives, the goal was to reduce the backlog of Good article nominations. In the upcoming drive, another goal will be added - raising as much money as we can for the Wikimedia Foundation. How will this work? Well, its pretty simple. Any user interested in donating can submit a pledge at the Backlog Drive page (linked above). The pledge should mention the amount of money the user is willing to donate per review. For example, if a user pledges 5 cents per review and 100 nominations are reviewed, the total donation amount is $5.00. At the time this message was sent out, two users have submitted pledges for a total of 8 cents per review. All pledges, no matter how much money, are greatly appreciated. Also, in no way is this saying you must make a pledge. |
Hi Gen Quon, I've checked with one of the FAC delegates, Ian Rose, who has agreed that The Office (U.S. season 9) falls more within the article category than in with the lists. If you could indicate on the FAC that you wish to withdraw then we can enact accordingly. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 08:52, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
- I'll close off the FLC shortly for you (on business trip at the mo). If you go down the FAC route, drop me a note and I'll be happy to review it there for you. Cheers. - SchroCat (talk) 11:10, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
