User talk:Ge Sheng-da
October 2021
[edit]Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Open Data Watch, from its old location at User:Ge Sheng-da/sandbox. This has been done because the Draft namespace is the preferred location for Articles for Creation submissions. Please feel free to continue to work on it there. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to ask me on my talk page. Thank you. -Liancetalk/contribs 14:25, 28 October 2021 (UTC) @Liance:Thank you for moving the draft to the correct location. I am new to Wikipedia editing, so learning as I go and, as a retired journalist, looking forward to contributing as I can. 戈胜达 (talk) 16:02, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Ge Sheng-da. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Open Data Watch, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Pabsoluterince (talk) 14:29, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
@Pabsoluterince:Thank you for the getting started message. Noted. I'm a 70 yr-old, retired, old-school journalist who is indeed just getting started with this, but hopes to be able to learn well-enough Wikipedia coding to be eventually of some service. G (pronounced Gee) 戈胜达 (talk) 17:32, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
- No worries then G. I will suggest some pages that can help teach you some wiki coding. Check out this page for help referencing, it will point you to templates that can be helpful. This page will help you put links to other wikipedia pages and external sources. That should help a bit, if you have anymore coding queries feel free to ask. Also I suggest taking a look at Wikipedia:No_original_research#Primary, for help creating your article. Pabsoluterince (talk) 02:12, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
