Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "GayCoonie", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it includes racist terms which may afford you a WP:ZT block... Wikipedia does not tolerate racism, prejudice, etc. on its pages. See uw-derogatory. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. — Shibbolethink ( ) 16:15, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your concern, but I assure you there is no racial intend behind my username. It has always been meant to refer to the mammal species raccoons. I always use a raccoon profile picutre on websites, and am a member of the furry fandom. I've been using this identity across the web for roughly 2 years. Additionally, "coonie" in that form isn't in common racial usage from what i see in a google search. Most of the results for it used as a noun seem to refer to raccoons or Maine Coon cats, at leasr from what i can tell of the images and relevent text results. Additionally, the one usage that does somewhat often come up in searches that may be taken as a racial slur seems to refer to white cajuns and be a euphemism for "coonass". However, the most common usage of "Coonie" as a noun seems to be raccoons, which is how it is intended. As for "Gay" well... i'm a gay man, as simple as that. That makes sense, thank you for explaining your name in such a cogent fashion! — Shibbolethink ( ) 18:58, 11 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I'm an admin here, and I also thank you for your explanation. I'd like to suggest that you put an appropriate raccoon image or similar, and perhaps a nice, short note about yourself and your editing interests on your userpage. That way, anyone in future who wonders about your username can immediately appreciate your reasoning and you'll far get less aggro or suspicious checks of all your edits from other users as a result. Many thanks, and regards from the UK. Nick Moyes (talk) 17:01, 12 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
