User talk:Ganeshk/Archive 2
The COTW is supposed to be updated every Friday, but it's already Saturday, and since I saw you are the one who usually does the archiving and updating, I thought I would request you. I think the winner this week is Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties of India, and since I nominated the article, I can't update myself. --May the Force be with you! Re: Player of the Series
[edit]If it isn't mentioned on the scorecard for the last match in the series (in this case: [1]), you can probably assume that no award was made. So I'd write "No official award" for that series. Sam Vimes 14:15, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
This and that
[edit]Hi Ganesh, thanks for moving the message to the end of the talkpage. I was planning to do that myself after replying to him. btw, you may have seen the query on WP:INWNB about the INCOTW notice. I tried fixing it but understood that it was getting updated by itself after some lag, so I did nothing. But for your note on my talkpage, I'd have missed this week's INCOTW. Good to see your participation in WikiProject Indian cinema, lots needs to be done for Telugu cinema. I've been a destructive influence, mostly tagging articles on Savitri and Bhanumati as copyvios. But for Missamma and Maayabazaar, not many classic telugu movies seem to be represented. If you are interested, you may want to have a go at them, but some suggestions: Try to develop an article at one go so that we can get it featured on DYK; If it is people, add Category:Telugu people; if it is films, add Category:Telugu films; and of course, as you would know, copyvios are no-no but some sources like telugucinema.com can be good source material for facts and trivia. --Gurubrahma 15:20, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
rani mangammal
[edit]I wikified the article, but there a lot fo other tamil names which need attention in the Rani Mangammal aticle,so please edit and expand.--Jayanthv86 03:54, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Great work!!
[edit]Hi Ganesh, I just finished investigating possible copyvio on Rani Mangammal and what do I find? I find that you've already beaten me to it. As Jayanthv86 just had a failed WP:RFA, he is trying to get active but is making several mistakes such as adding {{WikiProject Indian cinema}} to articles instead of talkpages etc. I was just following his contribs, when I stumbled on Rani Mangammal page. You have been doing great work of late; Pamri beat me once in awarding you the Working Man's barnstar, but I told myself then and there that I won't let anyone else come in between ;). So, here goes, --Gurubrahma 07:44, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
rani mangammal
[edit]hello.i wasnt the one who wrote the article.it was written by somebody else,i only wikified it,(see history of page).Anyway,i am not a tamilian and dont know much abt tamil history, since you are one,it is your duty to write a new article and expand it.--Jayanthv86 09:22, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks!
[edit]Dear Ganesh,
I had already figured out that it was nxzain who left the message on my page (and I replied to him -- it is probably going to disorient him when he finds out I'm neither desi nor Muslim). But thanks for adding the info! Aunty Zora 22:51, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Barnstar
[edit]Hey, thanks. I'm just glad Indians are getting up and showing those Australian, Canadian, and British cruftists — annoyingly, with their hundreds of FAs — what's what at FAC. Thanks. Saravask 04:18, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
FAC
[edit]Hi Ganesh, I wanted to let you know that an article I've worked a lot on recently, the Political integration of India is now FAC. I hope you will have some time to consider the work and give it an up or down vote. Please don't consider this soliciting - I'm requesting your participation. Thanks! Badmash.org
[edit]Could you take a shot at expanding Badmash.org? Based on your comments on its AfD, it seems you know quite a bit about it. -- Dragonfiend 01:30, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Regd T Nagar article
[edit]Hi Ganesh,
I asked an admin to block that anon user as he was causing a lot of trouble on pages related to Tamil. I guess the point he made at the T Nagar article was the best he made, so I haven't reverted that. Feel free to add your pic :) and thanks for contributing. -Cribananda 05:33, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Greetings
[edit]Greetings on India’s 57th Republic Day. --Bhadani 08:39, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your message. So now Indian Wikipedians have three Indian states featured, something not accomplished by any another nationality here — this is excellent. If you need help w/ an India-related article (peer review, etc.), just let me know. Thanks. Saravask 03:23, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Overs bowled
[edit]Hi - I think the general rule is to divide it by six. A wide/extra doesn't count as a ball bowled, I think, but quite a few of the cricketers played when the eight-ball over was in use. If that's the case, you can put in a line in the infobox which says "balls = true |" and then write the number of balls bowled in as "test overs = 17 |" if he's bowled 17 balls. Sam Vimes 15:04, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- See the infobox in Dennis Lillee for an example. Tintin (talk) 15:17, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Re: Nehru stadium
[edit]No problem. Couldn't find an appropiate image on cricket. Hope you find a good one. Cheers --Deepak|वार्ता 21:27, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the response
[edit]Hi Ganesh !
Thanks for the message..Sorry for the late response. I saw your contribution on Machilapatnam. Very informativre. As you are aware I am developing a page containing info about Vidyavihar ,a suburb of Mumbai. Need your advise. The page will ultimately contain exhaustive info.It would be necessary to break up the text into chapters or sections with relevant headings. Agaian I also intend to upload photographs. Would appreciate if you can help me with suggestions.. We hail from Tamil Nadu..My Grandfather moved to Bombay nearly 90 years ago from Tanjavur I have been born and brought up here . Do let us keep in touch..
Ganesh
Thanks
[edit]Thanks Ganesh. But before I could read and understand the procedure, Bhadani already completed the move. That's what admins are for right?? :-)--Raghu 13:36, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Please see my reply on my talk page. thanks. --Bhadani 13:52, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Hello,
That was nice of you to send me a message. I am now on the process of putting up images of both "Mundu" and "Set Mundu" (ladies ceremonial attire). Should be done in a hour or two. - —Preceding unsigned comment added by Qmsarge (talk • contribs)
Towns in Tamil Nadu
[edit]Hi, I noticed that you were interested in Tamil Nadu towns. I'm not sure which part of Tamil Nadu you're from, but i recently created the article for Nazareth in thoothukudi district. In the long shot that you are from the area, I was wondering if you had any pictures of thoothukudi district. I am quite new to wikipedia and if you could check out the article and give me any tips they will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

Thanks
[edit]Thanks for link! haha as for why I'm interested, i was born there! My mother is from Nazareth. However, I grew up in Nigeria, and currently I'm in Pennsylvania. I'm still very attached to my Tamil roots however, and that's why I'm trying to write the article :) Unfortunately, I have no photos whatsoever, even though I visit India once a year or two. Hopefully some will turn up! How about you? do you visit India often? Its nice to hear from Indian wikipedians; especially Tamil ones :).

Drawings
[edit]Hi Ganeshk! Thank for your comments on the drawings. When there is a picture I really like, but I can't use it because of the copyright, I draw my own rendering. I do not only draw the contour but also the shading (with light pencil strokes) to get a more realistic effect. Then I scan the result, and play on contrast, lightness to have a clear&clean rendering. Best regards. PHG 22:41, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Hi Ganesh. Usually, for contrast and lightness, a simple software like Microsoft Picture Manager (usually included in Windows) is enough. Regards. PHG 22:57, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
thanks. nice to know about you and your page.
