A tag has been placed on ISKCON New Govardhana Hare Krishna Community requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ~YellowFives 08:07, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Govardhanadhari requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

The article was speedily deleted because it gave no indication why the organisation was important or significant enough to have an encyclopedia article - Wikipedia is not a directory or guide and does not expect to have articles about everything and everyone. To qualify for an article, what is required is to show that it is notable, which is not a matter of subjective opinion, but means that the subject has "received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than listings or passing mentions, reliable excludes blogs, Myspace, places where anyone can post what they like, independent excludes the subject's own or affiliated websites. More detail at Notability (organizations and companies).

The speedy deletion notice explained that adding a "hangon" meant only that an admin would read what you said on the talk page before deciding: what you said there was that the parent organization was notable. Indeed it is, but it does not follow that every branch is.

If you think you can find independent references to meet the notability standard, I will undelete the article for you into the WP:Article Incubator where you can develop it; alternatively, if what you want is to provide a complete guide to the Murwillumbah area, you could add a paragraph about the organization to that article.

Please reply below here: I will watch this talk page. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 23:26, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply

[edit]

In hindsight I probably shouldn't have published the article before full completion. I would like the opportunity to to develop the article in the incubator.

I will also create a paragraph about the organization to the Murwillumbah article. Hopefully other organizations in the area will post there as well.

I want to see local content as well as general international content on wikipedia.

Article incubated

[edit]

OK: I have undeleted the article, and you will find it at Wikipedia:Article Incubator/ISKCON New Govardhana Hare Krishna Community. Read WP:LOCAL, and particularly the policies linked from this passage:

Information that should not appear in an article about a place of local interest comprises material that violates Wikipedia's three content policies, namely Wikipedia:Verifiability, Wikipedia:No original research, and Wikipedia:Neutral point of view. If you are well-acquainted with a place, it can be easy to inadvertently add material that violates these policies, especially if there is little verifiable information about the place, so be careful.
