A tag has been placed on User:Gala Wilton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Contested deletion

This page should not be speedily deleted because... It is a factual page on a real world football club --Gala Wilton (talk) 22:18, 1 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because... (Sorry - this page needs to be deleted as I have set up the page "Gala Wilton F.C." instead. I am new to Wikipedia so please help me to improve the new page. I want it to be unbiased and factual.) --Gala Wilton (talk) 22:28, 1 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your userpage is not an encyclopedia article, and it should not be written like one. I think your last reply shows that you have understood this distinction.
Your username is also a problem because it represents the organization. Wikipedia's username policy explicitly forbids usernames that represent organizations; they must only represent a single individual. You should request a change of username, as accounts are blocked on these grounds.
It is also not advised that you write about your own organization, regardless of your username, for reasons explained in Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations and the plain and simple conflict of interest guide.
The article you created will require multiple references to reliable, unaffiliated sources to show that it is notable enough to be considered worthy of inclusion. Otherwise the article will risk deletion. There are other editors more experienced in writing about football clubs than I, so they may be able to help. --Drm310 (talk) 22:33, 1 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I intend to make contributions to other articles. This was my first article which was about the Gala Wilton Football Club which I noticed didn't have an entry. The article was not on behalf of the club, but I did copy some text from the club website.

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Daniel Case (talk) 16:01, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for unblocking and changing to the Norman777111 username. I have used Wikipedia for several years without changing anything. Now I have seen the benefits, I want to put something back into the global community.Norman777111 (talk) 12:13, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wainlode Cliff

[edit]

You added an update to Wainlode Cliff stating "At the top of the hill, there is a commemoration stone in the middle of a small group of trees with the following inscription: "This stone marks the site of the bonfire lit to commemorate the coronation of King George V, June 22nd 1911". I don't believe this is on the cliff - possibly further up Norton Hill. Could you let me know where you found this information please? Also, if you have any additional detail on the cliff which may be of interest to others I'd love to hear of it. Lee W Delaney (talk) 15:24, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lee, the stone is in the middle of the small clump of trees about 50 metres to the west of the bench at the top of Wainlode Hill. Just thought it would be of interest!

Hi - Just a note to advise caution regarding copyright. Looking for something else, I hit upon this, [1] and I see that a chunk of the obelisk material you added to Eastnor Castle is word-for-word the same text. Copyvio’s a real issue on Wikipedia and, as I know, can take a lot of time and effort to clean up. Make sure you paraphrase sources appropriately when adding material. As an aside, they can also be unreliable. The article says it’s a Grade II monument, as you repeated, but it’s actually Grade II*. There’s a big difference. All the best. KJP1 (talk) 16:31, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

P.s. and the dedication’s also wrong. KJP1 (talk) 19:51, 26 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are absolutely correct in what you have said. I just went for Sunday lunch that day and having noticed the obelisk, did a walk there from the cafe. As I didn't find any further information on it in Wiki, I tried to add some information from what I thought was a trustworthy source (i.e. some random article on the internet). As you have mentioned, I didn't check the accuracy of the source!
Thanks for all the work on this, and I will double-check sources in future. Norman777111 (talk) 12:34, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
