Welcome to the one hundredth and thirty fifth WikiProject Yorkshire monthly newsletter.
Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 14,757 last month to 14,804 on 29 June 2019). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 150 is ahead of WP:GM who have 87. WP:GM has the lead in FAs at 68 out of a total number of 4,253 articles.
Currently we have forty nine Yorkshire featured articles:
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.
WikiProject Yorkshire Collaboration of the Month Project
The July 2019 articles selected below are an editor choice as there were no further suggestions from the project talk page.
The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
Monitoring is essential Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR. You will also have to check that the Commons link is set correctly.
Thanks

Thanks for your input at the debate on the titles of the 1947-49 Palestine war pages. This has been an impossible problem in wikipedia for more than a decade, and the subject of multiple discussions. I was too hasty in trying a single-answer vote, and as discussed here with Snowfire, we (Bolter21 and I) have worked to refactor the discussion to build a clearer picture of people’s views. If you could find 10 minutes further for this topic, please review the background of the wider debate at Talk:1947–1949 Palestine war/Name and then add your opinion to the table at Talk:1947–1949_Palestine_war#Vote.
The new voting table has now got traction, with 10 participants. I am hopeful that with a few more, we can find a resolution to this decade-old discussion.
Please could you add your vote for all five options there?
It's hard for us to judge true consensus without getting your broader view.
In an ideal world you might scan the scholarly position on the name debate at this link, put 1948 war into google to check whether there is any scope for confusion with other topics, and compare it to this situation.
Whatever you decide, I will accept as your final word.
FYI all the original votes have now been transitioned to the new voting structure except for yours and one other. The conversation is progressing in an interesting way. Onceinawhile (talk) 22:25, 7 July 2019 (UTC)
Please read this with a neutral tone, I am trying to be polite and not abrasive. As per Help:Maintenance_template_removal, "You should not remove maintenance templates if any of the following apply: 1. You do not understand the issues raised by the template;"
There is a major amount of editing that was done from an IP address within Durham University that has gone unchallenged, suggesting WP:COI. There is a lot of items with primary sourcing. 'Like a resume' doesn't mean it is a CV, it means that it seems promotional in nature, with phrasing such as "the first ever in the UK and first time in English outside Asia - in a move described as offering "great career prospects" for Durham Law School graduates beyond what is offered at other UK law schools", which makes it seem to breach WP:RESUME. Nicnotesay hello!contribs19:49, 11 July 2019 (UTC)
Nicnote, no offence taken! Dialogue is the reasonable route. The removed the tags as per WP:TAGBOMBING: Adding tags to articles should be accompanied by sufficient reasoning on the tagged article's talk page (or in a "reason" parameter where one exists) to explain why the tags are needed. Best if you put your reasons on the article talkpage itself. Feel free to remove your example from the article. Gaia Octavia AgrippaTalk21:28, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

Dear Ms. Agrippa, in relation to the article about Dr. Iain Torrance I thank for your message and information and appreciate the fact that you understood that they were done in good faith. However, one of my reverts renders the article out-dated: Prof. Dr. Iain Torrance did retire in July 2019 from service as Chaplain-in-ordinary to Her Majesty the Queen, as proven by reference 24 [1]. I respect your revert but also kindly request you to update the information. Thanking for your attention, Brunoptsem (talk) 11:25, 18 July 2019 (UTC)
Brunoptsem, thank you for you message and I appreciate your civility. His retiremnt as a Chaplain-in-ordinary has been updated by another editor. If there is anything else incorrect, please do point that out on the article's talkpage so that other editors could help: unless its vandalism or liblous and that should be removed. Hi, I just promoted your hook to the quirky slot at Prep 3. I'm debating whether to add a link to the section in Stalag Luft III about the Great Escape; it might take away page views. Meanwhile, there is no mention of Clarke in the latter article. Could you add a mention using that paywalled source from The Times? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 22:29, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
Thank you Yoninah! I agree that an extra link would take away views: its all linked in the introduction of Clarke's article so people won't be missing out. Good idea, I'll add him. Gaia Octavia AgrippaTalk10:00, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Images of England
The Images of England web site is to be decommissioned this month by Historic England. The text of the site entries has been available on the corresponding National Heritage List entry since that web site was created. The images are being transferred ahead of the decommissioning. As a result of this a BOT has changed all {{IoE}} templates to {{NHLE}} templates and translated the reference number according to a list provided by Historic England.
It would be good if members could check these, when they come across them, as I have spotted one with an incorrect translation. Some articles already had {{NHLE}} templates in them so the references may need to be combined. Other changes that may need to be performed are removal of template or text referring to the site as needing registration, changing the text "Images of England" or "IoE" to something more appropriate or may be even removing it if it is part of the description..
