That's cool, I appreciate the query, because I have been slowly trying to clean up the Illinois cat on Commons. When I first started here (which was only last September--so don't worry about being new) I just put the images in the NRHP cat on commons, they eventually all got moved to the Illinois cat but I still haven't been able to get them all in there own cats. I will help where I can with creating Registered Historic Places in X County, Illinois cats and adding the places to the right cats. I see you're from Illinois. I live in DeKalb County but was born and raised in McLean County, you can see some related collaborations on my user page. Mostly my effort has been concentrated on northern Illinois (since that is where I live) but I have also worked some on improving McLean County related articles. Lately my work has focused on the Black Hawk War. There's some links on my user page, as I said. Sorry to be so long winded, thanks for your work. IvoShandor 19:06, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No bother. I am pretty much obsessed with the National Register, architecture and historic preservation so if you need any assistance feel free to ask. If you don't know about the HAARGIS Database, check it out. There is a lot of information on there and you can query National Register listings by county and city, sometimes the site is buggy but it usually works (persistence pays off generally). That database has a ton of the National Register Nomination Forms digitized for many of the sites throughout the state as well as some other documentation which includes some non-Register properties too. Great resource. In general I wouldn't trust the website nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com, it seems to be quite off sometimes. I use the NRIS official database whose errors are usually confined to addresses or misspellings. Also if you need any copy editing (you mentioned you were accustomed to technical writing) let me know, I am decent at it, and have worked as an editor in the past. : ) It is good to see another Illinois person active around here. I wonder myself about the copyright of the photographs and slides. You're right many of them are those that were submitted with the National Register application. The National Register themselves are good about responding to emails by the way. You can tell which ones are NR photos and slides, they usually say NR slide or NR photo. I bet they become property of the federal government upon submission, so are likely PD, but we should get a confirmation on that first. IvoShandor 20:12, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have noticed that you have worked on a lot of the historic places in Illinois. I was wondering if you would be able to assist me. I am currently in the process of creating a new list for List of Registered Historic Places in Illinois on my user page. I am going to try and get this list to Feature List status, but to do that I need to have 70% of the red links linked to articles. I was hoping that you might be able to assist me in the counties you said you are mostly interested in working such as Lake and Cook. I would like to go for DYK status on them (meaning 1,500 bytes of text) as we do each article, but we don't have too. If you are interested, please let me know. Thanks for your time!--Kranar drogin 03:51, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
