- Welcome!
Hello, GPJ, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for helping us build a great free encyclopedia. We have five basic principles, but other than that, we advise that you be bold and edit. If you ever have any questions or need help, feel free to leave a message at the help desk, and other Wikipedia editors will be happy to assist you.
Thanks again and congratulations on becoming a Wikipedian!
P.S. New discussion threads for you will appear at the bottom of this page.
This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Josiah Gimson, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://humanistheritage.org.uk/articles/josiah-gimson/.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) MadmanBot (talk) 09:57, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Josiah Gimson
[edit]Hello GPJ,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Josiah Gimson for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Barney the barney barney (talk) 09:58, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- Can you provide proof of this? I think the simplest way would be for you to add an appropriate Creative Commons licence (e.g. cc-by-sa) to the page at http://humanistheritage.org.uk/articles/josiah-gimson/? We can then copy this without any trouble.
- If the article gets deleted in the meantime, don't worry we can recreate it. Better to take a little time and do the job properly. Barney the barney barney (talk) 10:27, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
- One challenge is that the site with the same words here, asserts copyright over the material. That site might be incorrect. However, we need to see evidence that the material is, in fact licensed with a CC compatible license.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 16:08, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
Harriet Law
[edit]Hello and thanks for attending the Conway Hall editathon. Someone started the Harriet Law article whilst you were working on it in your sandbox, so I've taken the liberty of merging the two versions. ϢereSpielChequers 17:27, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
DYK for Harriet Law
[edit]On 31 August 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Harriet Law, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that freethinker Harriet Law was the only woman on the general council of the First International, and was praised by Eleanor Marx and Karl Marx? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Harriet Law. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |
