Reason parameter in fact template

Hi there. I'm a little confused - this edit seems to be at variance with "It is also recommended to add the (non-displayed) |reason= parameter to leave a better record for future editors," which is stated in the Notes under Template:Citation needed#Usage. I agree that the user's sig should not have been in there but surely the comment is OK? Your edit seems to perhaps risk making the tag less useful and more drive-by. Thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 09:43, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Dear Fylbecatulous, thank very much for the nice and helpful message, and please do not think for a moment of apologizing. I think I am quite sensitive to rudeness (possibly too much so to edit here!) but I detect a 100% absence of it in your actions. It's been a pleasure to do business with you. With thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 13:00, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Hats Off (EP), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Boylan Heights and Darker Days (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A friendly word

Hello, I wanted to leave you alone for a few days. But I also want to let you know that I have thought about your messages to me, and that I wish you well. If I can assist, just let me know. Take care. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:14, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Thank you ツ You challenged me in a good way to uncloak myself so we could communicate in a more honest manner. You were right of course. But I didn't want to cause you to feel uncomfortable because I ended up revealing so much. Like I had not only tossed off my cloak, but thrown open the curtains and walked out into the daylight with fangs and all, to be destroyed by the sunlight. I really dislike whining and am always aware that I sometimes do. Hey though, you did speak truth: I had a friend who died quite gracefully of something uncurable and sufferable and he always said "heaven is just a blink away", so I do think of one early U2 song Seconds. I promise to stay in touch (in homeopathic doses). Many best wishes. Fylbecatulous talk 02:48, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
I didn't intend my initial remarks so much as a challenge to you as an opening or an invitation to you. Of course, I did not expect to learn what I did, but true reality is cold reality, at least in most coherent systems of thinking and viewing the world. I see no fangs and I see no signs of whining. But if it comes some day to whining, I will certainly do my best to understand, to try to redirect toward good ends, and also, always to forgive. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:03, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
Have no fear, from you it was a gentle invitation. I visualised it as a challenge so I would answer you as needed to be done. Fylbecatulous talk 03:17, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

And you did, my friend. Until the day I die, I will think of you when I hear songs from the Guthrie pantheon, father and son. I have a sweet and true friend of 43 years, and we sometimes joke about "Alice's Restaurant". That song and accretions around it has some very sweet connotations to the two of us. There is a biker bar in a remote and scenic part of the San Francisco Bay Area, and she is a biker. I have been there but she hasn't yet. But now there is another layer of meaning, at least for me, when I think of any such composition. "Pastures of Plenty" is a song by his father that especially appeals to me. I associate it with the version by The Youngbloods, which I heard about that same time, 43 years ago, just before coming to California for the first time. To me, the vocals of Jesse Colin Young evoke a time and place that makes me yearn to be young and free and optimistic again. Such memories build up crusty layers of meaning, much like a slow deliberate painter builds up layers of intipasto. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:47, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
I have seen the younger. He performed nearby earlier this year. Oh, I loved "Alice's Restaurant" the song and the film; and the Woodstock film. I have seen "The Dust Bowl" twice on PBS and Woody is featured along with his music from that era. Man, he lived a rough and tumble life. The ubiquitous "they" say you have faster progression and worse symptoms the more physically active you are earlier in life...I think of him running after trains to ride the rails. Fylbecatulous talk 04:08, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

I have added a few categories to this entry that it didn't have yesterday.

Article Feedback Tool update

Hey Fylbecatulous. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 22:09, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

Your move

Moving is always tough. I wish you well, and hope that you return to contributing to the encyclopedia soon. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:49, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Thank you. It will be a good move but it all happened suddenly. I am trying to pack in small episodes. It is the cleaning that will drive me bats. I am in a flat and management has to come in and assess for damage and 'excess painting and cleaning' for which they charge you. I am so obsessive, I am going around and putting dabs of touch-up paint in every little dent and scratch on the walls and baseboards. I have even lemon-oiled the fake wood cabinets so the wear and tear of the finish doesn't look so bad. I'll still be around a bit until I am cut off from Internet. Thanks again for your well wishes. It is arbitrary to delete Mike Boich

He is the first Evangelist for the Apple Macintosh. It just happens he is a CEO now, and a venture capitalist. meatclerk (talk) 06:55, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

I review new pages but do not have the power to remove an article. I made a deletion request based on what I saw in the article and its sources; as to whether or not they met the policies and guidelines of English Wikipedia. An administrator reviewed the nomination for Quick Deletion and made a decision, again, based on policies and guidelines. Continued good luck with your editing. Your old signature:
<b><font color="#595454">Fylbecatulous</font> <font color="#DB7093">talk</font></b>

Used colors:   for your name and   for your talk.

A current signature with those and your bolding should be coded as:
<b style="color:#595454">Fylbecatulous</b> <b style="color:#DB7093">talk</b>

Which will result in a 127 character long (7 character shorter) signature with an appearance of: Fylbecatulous talk

Compared to your previously 134 character long signature of: Fylbecatulous talk

Fylbie, about removing "Word count", no big deal (although one is really not supposed to delete others' comments unless one is an administrator with a good reason). I use this "word count" device occasionally to voice my (slightly jocular) opinion that the discussion is getting overlong because certain people are laboring their points. But I'm just another 'user' — my comments have no official standing and may be (and often are) freely disregarded.

Please don't absent yourself from discussion on my account. Sorry if I offended you. Sca (talk) 14:48, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Sca, No I only removed my latest comments; I would never remove anothers. Your word count note still stands. I have not deleted it. I am actually quite obedient to rules on Wikipedia. Alas, I have certainly belaboured my point. I am not offended, be assured. This is just getting upsetting because now my note to you has been misread. I would never remove your word count note. Writing articles

Fylbecatulous, I hope you don't mind my sticking my nose in here, but I read what you said at the RfA about the process of getting articles accepted here, and I wonder whether you realize there is no requirement to use either the Article Wizard or AfC? Any registered editor can just create it. The New Page Patrollers are going to look it up and down, so I always advise people to not press Save until there's a clear statement of importance in the lede and at least one decent reference, preferably two. (Also in my experience, if you don't give it at least one category, you may edit conflict with someone dropping by to add categories one at a time.) But if it's a notable topic, I'd say go for it. It's at least as much fun here as on Simple, IMO :-) Maybe you knew all this, but just in case you didn't ... Yngvadottir (talk) 18:36, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

Yngvadottir, please don't worry about coming to my talk page. Thanks for your encouragemnt. I actually engage in some New Page Patrol on en-wiki for tagging as an editor. So to me even that is a precarious undertaking to perhaps write an article and stress about acceptance or deletion, or deletion review...See English Wikipedia, to me, is fairly deletionist. Decidedly so, compared to Simple English. We actually still welcome new articles there, and we rarely delete anything except complete silliness or vandalism. We just shrug and say "okay this article has arrived in a total mess but it can be patched up with some loving care". I am actually gifted with the patroller rights there, so mostly, I tag very little for issues and instead attempt to do the work needed myself. As far as fun, Simple has its own prickly issues, but I really enjoy the chance to write content. I was a newsprint journalist once and young, so I know how to write for 5th - 8th grade level (10 years to 13 maybe), which is what newspapers attempt to achieve. Thanks again and happy to meet you. Fylbecatulous talk 16:47, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
That's a bit scary that you would see it that way. However, as a fairly extreme inclusionist (I've worked hard to save several articles and have undeleted and rewritten at least one, Tiddles), I can't say it's an entirely unjustified opinion. But I can only think of one article I've written that's been AfD'd, and it was kept. There's always a first time, of course. But there are still a horrifying number of red links. And you must be brave to have written for newspapers! Yngvadottir (talk) 17:02, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Please do not undo it again

Why did you undo my edit on the Pet page? I see no reason as to why that edit should be undone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.218.9.189 (talk) 22:39, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

I ran across your comment on Eric's talk page letting people know that you are unhappy with me. I understand why. I completely botched the point I was trying to make on Jimbo's talk page, in a way that was particularly hurtful to you. I was wrong, and later struck out much of my comment. I tried to make amends at that time, but I guess I didn't express myself clearly enough. I was wrong, and I apologize to you. I am going to try hard not to write anything so insensitive in the future. I wish you nothing but the best. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:22, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
