Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Peter Krause (artist), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Peter Krause (artist) is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Peter Krause (artist), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Hi, Freddy !! Willgee here . A while back you hinted that my calling The Miracles' "The Tracks Of My Tears" a "classic" could have been biased and /or a personal opinion. However, I consider myself a Miracles "expert" of sorts and have as you know, written many articles about this group and their songs for Wikipedia and elsewhere, and continue to do so. I have long known the facts about this song and the awards it has won, and later included them in the song's article . I am re- posting them here :

The Miracles' original version of The Tracks of My Tears has won the following awards and honors:

  • The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) ranked it at #127 in its list of the Songs of the Century - the 365 Greatest Songs of the 20th Century.
  • Winner of "The Award Of Merit" from The American Society of Composers,Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) for the song's writers, Miracles members Pete Moore, Marv Tarplin, and Smokey Robinson.
  • Chosen as #5 of the Top 10 Best Songs of All Time by a panel of 20 top industry songwriters and producers including Hal David, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, Jerry Leiber, and others as reported to Britain's Mojo music magazine.]

....So you see, the professional opinion about this song being a "classic" isn't just my opinion...it's a matter of music industry fact and record. a lot of other people also think so as well. -It is also by far The Miracles' most covered song...far more so than the song your editors term the group's "signature song", Ooo Baby Baby. If any song is the Miracles' "signature song"...It's The Tracks Of My Tears " - thanks again, Willgee.(User talk:Willgee|talk)

Combining Talk Discussions Re Disney Film Lists

[edit]

Dear SpikeJones, Kasper2006, Elikrotupos, SWatsi, Blitz Lutte, NealP, LtPowers, SofaKing381222, Collectionian, Cartoon Boy, Casey14, Chris1219, NuclearWarfare, SkinnyPrude, and Parker 1297:

Recently, it appears that you all have been interested in the various Disney discussions regarding the proper categorization of Disney animated films. There has been recent activity regarding the proper structure of the various Disney feature length film lists. Unfortunately the discussions regarding the lists / pages are taken place on a number of talk pages. Before we get further into a long discussion regarding the various structural issues with regards to List of Disney theatrical animated features, Template:Disney theatrical animated features, Walt Disney Animated Classics, Category:Disney animated features canon, List of Disney feature films‎ and what ever other lists are out there, I would suggest that we somehow combine the discussions (both past and present) into one place. This will allow easy review on single page for users interested in this matter. It will also allow future users an easy access to whatever rational is used to support the structure of the various lists (including keeping or merging certain lists.). I believe that in placing this discussion in one central location, it alleviates repetitive discussion, allows issues are not constantly revisited in different locations and hopefully sets the future standard in updating the various lists with the verifiable sources. I honestly do not know if there is Wikipedia policy on this, nor do I know what the proper way of creating such a place. But I do believe it would useful.

I have posted this suggestion on the all the User’s talk pages above and apologize if I have missed any person who may be interested in this matter. If you know of a user interested in this matter, please invite any that person to discuss these issues. .If I have included you and you have no interest in this matter, I sincerely apologize and please delete this message.

Merge/Separation of different versions of same song

As somebody who is interested in songs you may be interested to know there is a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Songs/coverversions with the purpose of trying to establish a standard rule for merge/separate different versions of the same song. Please make known your feelings on the matter. Regards. --Richhoncho (talk) 07:46, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Furious Freddy (formerly B Touch, formerly User:68.16.168.186)! I know that you and Brotha Timothy happen to be the main contributors to The Supremes and also Diana Ross material here on Wikipedia. I have to say, you have truly done an amazing job on this! I know that you deservingly get the credit for initially nominating The Supremes article to FA status (when you were User:68.16.168.186), which was back in January 2006. I noticed immediately after you done that, that you began logging in as B Touch. In this incarnation, you were at your apex, producing amongst the greatest works in all of Wikipedia! Truly amazing! I want to ask you for your help on this, which is, if you click on the above link, I have a question for you about if you can get the exact dates to go along with the months you already have listed there, please. Also, sometime soon, I'm going to start a new article page project called 'The Supremes timeline', and I was wondering if might you and Brotha Timothy help. I'll let you know as soon as it begins, if you're okay with that. Thanks! Best, --Discographer (talk) 22:25, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Slyfam-simplesong-1969.ogg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Slyfam-simplesong-1969.ogg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. I have nominated Captain Marvel (DC Comics) for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello FuriousFreddy! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 18 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 7 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Replaceable fair use File:Cynthiarobinson-1968.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Cynthiarobinson-1968.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. Captain Marvel

[edit]

Wouldn't it be better to isolate the areas where reference improvement is needed, instead of tagging the whole article? There are over 30 references there currently, which is more than quite a few GA-quality articles. Pointing out where we need cites would seem to me a Good Thing. If there is a policiy or guideline on point here, I'd appreciate if you could illuminate it for me.
The other clean-up edits are pretty good, though. I've made a few changes. :) - Jack Sebastian (talk) 16:19, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tom and Jerry and Freddy

[edit]

Hello! As per your question: you may want to withdraw your AfD nominations and take the initiative to merge and redirect the articles into a new List of Tom and Jerry characters article. I understand your frustration, especially since some of the characters don't have names in the actual cartoons, such as Toodles Galore and Meathead. I assume that such information came from a cartoon history book. Thanks. Joal Beal (talk) 13:21, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

When you are done with Tom and Jerry, you may want to tap into some other MGM cartoons. I took a quick peek and found some that are in need of clean-up! Joal Beal (talk) 16:15, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Freddy. I will read over the info you suggested, and any help you can give will be welcome. As a side point, I did not put the words "Motown Royalty" on the Miracles article. I don't know who did, but it wasn't me. Other people have been contributing to this article besides myself, including an editor describing him/herself as "Kimber", who has been making changes as well. I will be sure to read the site on Nirvana. - (Willgee Willgee (talk) 18:49, 15 May 2010 (UTC))[reply]

I have been very busy of late - haven't been able to make any changes recently-I'll have time to start next weekend.Where do you suggest I begin ? Willgee (talk)

> do you think it could be any shorter?

Yes. The last two paragraphs of Act I have a lot of detail, and Act II is sprinkled with minor wordiness. Here's some feedback:

  • Why did Curtis make the women lose the contest?
  • The main point of the last two Act I paragraphs seems to be that Curtis dumps Jimmy over artistic differences and then pushes Effie out for similar reasons.
  • I would consider condensing or getting rid of these pieces of text: "upscale Miami Beach club date", "voice is too "special" and her figure too large to attract white audiences", "With the aid of new songs and a new more glamorous image", "despite her protests", "Michelle Morris", "launches into a wild funk number", "dropping his pants", "Curtis is undone", and "Curtis attempts to confront Deena"
  • Delete "decides to" everywhere.
  • What does "shifts his attention back to the Dreamettes" mean? Use that section to explain what Curtis did with Jimmy.
  • These pieces of text are redundant:
    • "betrayed", "does not take kindly", "begins acting out", and "becoming more unruly"
    • "married" and "adulterous"

The summary isn't too bad, but the story is relatively simple, so I would try to keep the length close to 600 words.
Have a nice day. —Codrdan (talk) 00:49, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

> a few of the details need to be left in
Something needs to be left in, but you may not have to list the details explicitly. I haven't watched the film, but detailed scenes usually have some overall purpose, and there's usually a way to describe it concisely.
> Jimmy bombing infront of the upscale audience
Try to extract the main point instead of just regurgitating the action.
> Effie ... her voice too "special" (the term used in the film. They mean "soulful" or "black", but in the summary neither term seemed to work)
Then find another word or description. You need to get rid of the word "special". It's imprecise and it's not standard English usage. The summary is supposed to explain the story, so repeating its language verbatim is a bad thing.
> the theme of the film is about a black record executive trying to package black singers for white consumption
Maybe you should just write that explicitly instead of hinting at it. First sentence of the second paragraph: "With ambitions of introducing black singers to white audiences...". Maybe something like that.
> there a lot of things to compress into the plot summary.
Yep.
> Answering some of the questions:
Don't tell me, put it into the summary. I was just telling you what confused me as a reader.
> Trying to explain in any more detail than "Curtis shifts his attention back to the Dreams" would be speculation, because the film never goes into what happens to Jimmy.
Not more detail, more precision. "Shifts his attention" is vague.
> I thought the "shifts his attention back to" bit was explained enough ... Should I reword this to clarify?
I don't know. I would have to watch the film to be sure. Those two paragraphs just seem like a roundabout way of saying that Curtis dumps Jimmy and Effie to sex up the group for the pop market.
> If I take Michelle's name out, someone else is going to add it back in. I don't think it hurts much to keep that brief mention.
Whatever. It's worthless. Another possibility is to mention her first name only.
> "Despite her pleas." ... it's supposed to be a reference to the film's best-known scene
If it's important, then explain why.
> Effie sings "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going"
Oh, it's that song. Have you ever heard an 11yo girl singing it? :)
> is the "Act 1/Act 2" thing likely to be challenged.... the film does the same thing the stage show does
I guess it's okay. Who knows what other editors will do.
> Thank you very much for your help!
Thanks for working on the summary :) —Codrdan (talk) 11:38, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Autumn Records requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. The article 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection: The Best of Boyz II Men has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No sources besides Allmusic, not a notable compilation.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Replaceable fair use File:Jackson-5-concert.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Jackson-5-concert.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone.

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 70.113.92.82 (talk) 04:58, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Woody-woodpecker-title-card.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Woody-woodpecker-title-card.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:13, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fantasia

[edit]

Thanks for your helpful edits regarding the 2000 and 2010 Fantasia video releases. However the article from Variety linked to in your citation has no mention of Fantasia in it. Could you revise the ref with the actual article you had intended? Thanks so much, Markhh (talk) 22:21, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I was reading too fast and missed it. I was looking I guess for something confirming that the content of the two versions are the same. But you must be right. The running time listed on the packages of both is the same, 125 minutes. Best, Markhh (talk) 23:14, 8 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Red Tails, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Riley (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
