Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Funcionais. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Quarterly Journal of Finance, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:45, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- I do not in fact have a conflict of interest. That is such a weird thing to assume? Thank you. Funcionais (talk) 13:05, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- Nobody has assumed anything; it was an enquiry. And it's not weird at all, it's in fact a standard practice, triggered by the fact that the vast majority of your edits so far have to do with this one subject. There's presumably a reason why you chose to create your first draft on this subject? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:11, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- It is not in fact true that the "vast majority" of my edits are about this subject. I have made other edits to some math articles. I edited them because I am interested in these topics. Now I made the draft for the creation of a new page, which has turned out to be more difficult than anticipated, and required editing a couple of times. I made this draft because, again, I am interested and often read wiki articles about math and finance topics. The articles for academic journals are often useful as reference resources, and I hoped that the new article would be as well. Is there a problem with that? Funcionais (talk) 13:20, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- No problem. Thank you for answering my query. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:23, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
