Welcome!
[edit]Welcome Fred! Due to a misunderstanding, your page was already filled with a lot of Wikipedia's bureaucratic noise by the time I was able to get home and start tidying. I've cleaned your page up, but watching the speedy reaction to your new account was really educational for me. See User talk:Fred J. Martin, Jr./2015-12-06 newbie cruft for some of the "welcome" information that would have been waiting for you.
As we discussed, I'm looking forward to seeing your work on Constitution of Montana! One thing that only occurs to me now is that we're going to have to be careful about making sure your edits don't run afoul of any conflict of interest policies given your family's legislative involvement.
If you find yourself wanting to find "the user manual" for this site, my main recommendation to you is that you visit Wikipedia:Teahouse as a first step in a tutorial for editing Wikipedia. That's probably a better starting point than the copious (and probably too detailed) documentation that is easier to find. -- RobLa (talk) 03:51, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
Articles to work on
[edit]I'm going to add stuff here that may give you some idea of where to go:
- Constitution of Montana - Given your background and our conversation this afternoon
- Abraham Lincoln - I obviously have to include this one.
- User:RobLa/Decade articles - this is my personal project I've spent some time on. I've got links to the work that I've been doing (1800-1849) and how I've been doing it.
I'm sure I'll think of other stuff to add, but I should probably get to bed now. :-) RobLa (talk) 07:35, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
Comment
[edit]The page was nominated by Velella because the content, with links to your own pages, was felt to be promotional. Admin RobLa added some text and removed the speedy tag, but Velella replaced it since the original problem had not been addressed, and I deleted. Robla's advice above is sound, and if you need any help, feel free to contact me too Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:48, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
