- I had one. Then I divorced her. ;) Joking apart, I came to post you a {{subst:User:Sam Sailor/Templates/HappyNewYear}}, Fox, but it looks like crap here, so a manual wish for a Happy New Year 2016 will hopefully suffice. Best, Sam Sailor Talk! 01:25, 2 January 2016 (UTC)

WikiCup 2016: Game On!
We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. The most recent player to sign up brings the current total to 101 contestants. Signups close on 5 February. If you’re interested, you can join this year's WikiCup here.
We are aware that in some areas the scoring bot’s numbers are a little bit off (i.e., overly generous) and are working to have that corrected as soon as possible.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:04, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

- @Cornerstonepicker: quoting from a FB post as a "rep". Not too legit yet. There's no time limit, remember. — foxj 06:56, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Cornerstonepicker: Looking pretty real now. Sad day. — foxj 07:08, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah, his son already confirmed it on Twitter. Cornerstonepicker (talk) 07:10, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

DYK for A Bridge over You
On 12 January 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article A Bridge over You, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Justin Bieber asked his Twitter followers to get charity record "A Bridge over You" to the UK Singles Chart Christmas number one ahead of his own song? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/A Bridge over You. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Help decide the future of Wikimania
The Wikimedia Foundation is currently running a consultation on the value and planning process of Wikimania, and is open until 18 January 2016. The goals are to (1) build a shared understanding of the value of Wikimania to help guide conference planning and evaluation, and (2) gather broad community input on what new form(s) Wikimania could take (starting in 2018).
After reviewing the consultation, we'd like to hear your feedback on on this survey.
In addition, feel free to share any personal experiences you have had at at a Wikimedia movement conference, including Wikimania. We plan to compile and share back outcomes from this consultation in February.
With thanks,
I JethroBT (WMF) (talk), from Community Resources 22:01, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
Chicken or the Egg
Hello, I'm Darkknight2149. I was wondering if you could remove this non-constructive edit summary here from the Chicken or the egg article. Although Wikipedia does not recognise film spoilers, this edit summary has nothing to do with the article and was only placed there to provoke. The edit itself also isn't constructive, however I already reverted it and left the anon a message. Thanks. DarkKnight2149 01:07, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Darkknight2149: Done. — foxj 01:08, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello
Hi, I was wondering if you had a chance to see my response on the Main talk page before it was avchived? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 03:19, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- I didn't - I'll have a look now. — foxj 23:42, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Johnsmith2116: The view counter is maintained by one person, and on an external site belonging to that person. Only he can maintain it, I'm afraid. — foxj 23:44, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- Okay thank you. I thought it might be nice to have it working by Monday so that we could see how many views Andy Murray's page gets if he wins the Australian Open. But if it's not to be, no problem. Maybe that person will eventually be back and update it at some point. Thanks again for your response. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 00:21, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Johnsmith2116: That's no problem. The pageview API I told you about is actually really good for this and, unlike stats.grok.se, actually counts mobile views :) — foxj 00:50, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Fine Bros. subscribers
Should probably mention that live sub feeds (several different sites have this function) have shown that the subscribers have hit under 14,000,000 since 22:50 GMT. The official YouTube count often has a considerable delay in registering these changes and it's more noticeable considering the dramatic decline in subscribers today. Once the official count drops below 14 million I'll change the Wiki back. VampireKilla (talk) 23:33, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
- @VampireKilla: That's fine, as long as there's a citation :) — foxj 23:35, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
