Hi -- if I rated the article right now, it would be "Start" class. But if you can add some basic biographical info such as where he got his degree and where he worked, I think it would go up to B or C. Regards, Looie496 (talk) 18:15, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- I've added a general biography section about his education and academic work. Jhbuk (talk) 19:00, 4 October 2009 (UTC)
- Nice work -- I've assessed it as B, the highest rating we give short of GA, because it seems pretty complete. (The "low" importance rating is not a criticism -- nearly all our biographical articles fall into that group, including ones on people like David Marr and Henry Hallett Dale.) Regards, Looie496 (talk) 21:50, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
I have submitted this article for proposed deletion for the reasons I gave on the page. However, I looked at the talk page of the person (User_talk:Someshkirar) and found that they have been warned against creating these articles and received a last warning after creating this same article before. This appears to have been in February, and they don't appear to have made any other edits since then. There have also been edits by 74.72.234.43, which seems to be the IP adress of this user. They have left a message on the article's talk page:Talk:Dhanak. Should this have been put under speedy deletion and how should this be responded to in terms of a warning? - Hey there, sorry for the late reply to the helpme request. The PROD was appropriate, or you could also have tagged it with {{db-repost}}. -- Ϫ 19:54, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Could you help Digital Audio broadcasting ?
Hi,
thanks for the concern about the reverts on the Digital Audio Broadcasting page . I am just to inform you that i have allready reported 94.192.246.167 and myself for 3RR in order to not waste anyones time. I will encourage you to join the discussion on the talk page of the article, as i find the situation slightly stuck.
Best regards, Segrov (talk) 01:13, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- I think the best thing now would probably be to see how things turn out before going any further. This post clearly shows they're not being particularly constructive, as they are not addressing the problem, so I think you did the right thing in reporting them to the admins, and a short block might be beneficial. However, I am still willing for now to assume good faith in that they seem to be trying to improve the article, even in the wrong way. Jhbuk (talk) 14:53, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- You’re right, there is no need to rush, so let’s give mister 94.192.246.167 some time. But I havent seen him participate on the talk page lately.... Anyway, now it’s time for christmas. Happy christmas:) Segrov (talk) 21:47, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Welcome to MilHist!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you are interested, or you can add it directly to your user page by copying the following: {{WPMILHIST Announcements}}.
- Important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, and article logistics.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.
- If you're looking for something to work on, there are many articles that need attention, as well as a number of review alerts.
- The project has a stress hotline available for your use.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask any of the project coordinators or any other experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome, and we are looking forward to seeing you around! – Joe N 03:05, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

The Thing Vandalize me 06:17, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
Jhbuk-- This article is looking good-- very well-organized with a lot of information, clearly presented. There is lot of use of some terms (especially "deploy" and variants) which it would be good to reword if possible. I thought you might be interested in this discussion on displacement-- the navy.mil website likely is wrong on the "short tons" question (and it is inconsistent with other official sources) and this paper (warning: long .pdf), already linked in the class article, seems to have the most comprehensive figures. (While it certainly appears to be informed and authoritative, it is a student paper; whether it is a reliable source according to Wikipedia standards could be a concern.) Perhaps just giving a range for full-load displacement in the infobox would be best-- I'll leave that to you. Regards, Kablammo (talk) 15:48, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for that - I'll have a look. I think most of the problems with phrasing came because I was writing it in sentences, rather than paragraphs, so I wasn't really thinking too much about how each would fit in. I have already done some copyediting though, but I think I'll adjust my strategy when I next do some major expansion. Jhbuk (talk) 17:19, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Hello - Matthew Gray Beatbox flute
I am trying to create an article for Matthew Gray the beatboxing flutist. can you help? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stuffinpie (talk • contribs) 18:16, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
- The article as it stands does not contain any information to suggest that the subject is notable, according to WP:MUSICBIO. Having a few hundred hits on YouTube is not really significant enough for a credible assertion; simply existing does not mean he is notable enough for an article. You also need to put reliable sources into any article you make, as it will probably be deleted if the information included cannot be backed up. If you want some advice on how to write articles, see WP:YFA. I hope this hasn't put you off editing. Thanks. Jhbuk (talk) 18:21, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

See the previous edit. Rjanag deleted the entire article. Lunaroutpost (talk) 13:15, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:Redirect; he gave a valid reason which you did not address: "redirect.. no content here that needs to be forked into its own article, no sources to demonstrate notability of this topic beyond the more general one". Jhbuk (talk) 13:16, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- No, sorry, you cannot delete an article like that. You must use this template before : {{merge}}. Lunaroutpost (talk) 13:22, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- He didn't delete it, he redirected it, so the content is still there in the article history. He wasn't advocating a merge, as all of the information in the article was contained in the article it redirected to. You could equally argue that you shouldn't have created the page without discussing the fork. See WP:Content forking. Jhbuk (talk) 13:28, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- There are many other articles like this see Tennis in China, Rugby union in China... Lunaroutpost (talk) 13:32, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

- My objection is not that the page exists, but that you shouldn't revert someone's edit without giving a valid reason, unless it is blatantly unconstructive. Jhbuk (talk) 18:34, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
That was completely my mistake. Thanks for catching it! PrincessofLlyr (talk) 22:43, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
- Both seem to have been deleted anyway. Jhbuk (talk) 16:40, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
You marked this page for deletion. Could I ask you why? desdemon666 13 March 2010
- You recreated the article after it was deletd after a deletion discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Helliq Society, and is therefore eligable for speedy deletion. Jhbuk (talk) 15:03, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
I recreated the page but I used for this page new content. That is the reason that I ask of the deletion reasons. desdemon666 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Desdemon666 (talk • contribs) 15:33, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- It may not be similar enough, but it could be, and as I am not an administrator, I cannot see what it was like before. I therefore tagged it so that an admin can have a look at it, as it needs to be assessed. Copyright issues were not the reason, by the way, although if it is based on copyrighted material then it could be, even if it is paraphrased. Jhbuk (talk) 16:39, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
I inserted some references to increase the notability of this page. Let me know if there is anything more, that I could do to avoid the page deletion desdemon666 (talk) 18:35, 13 March 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Desdemon666 (talk • contribs)

April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive
WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of April. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 200. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. Hope we can see you in April. |

Knock Nevis
Since the article 'Knock Nevis' made the claim that she was the longest ship ever built, finding proof that a ship was being built that was longer would contribute to that article, would it not? The article would have to be changed to reflect the truth. Mytg8 (talk) 23:55, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

Manchester United F.C GA Review
Hi. Thanks for reviewing. I have a few comments which I'd appreciate your response to. Thanks Tomlock01 (talk) 20:01, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
- I've made all the changes you suggested. What are you thoughts now? Happy Easter! Tomlock01 (talk) 12:46, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'm pleased that the article now meets the GA criteria, thanks. Do you have any comments on what needs to be done to get it to FA? Tomlock01 (talk) 19:56, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- FAC is certainly not something you should rush into. I haven't brought an article to FAC myself yet, but I have been working on one I hope to do that with in the near future. A featured article has to be essentially faultless, a few things are that: there should be no inaccuracies at all, and this is checked against all the sources given whenever possible; everything should be written clearly with no vague areas; all of the images need very good copyright statuses; it mush comply with everything on the WP:MOS; all images need alt text [1]. I suggest you get some other editors to assess the article and conduct a thorough copyedit; to be honest, the language used in the article is still not brilliant in relation to most GAs, let alone FAs. 21:21, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I've had a few articles at FAC, so I've got a reasonable idea of what's expected, and I agree with you. FAC is a tough gig, and I really don't think this article is ready yet. Malleus Fatuorum 21:42, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
Regarding the recent review, could I suggest that you list the review under the "Article Milestones" template on the talk page, rather than leaving it as a separate template? Lampman (talk) 03:51, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
I have undone your edit to this user's homepage. Wikipedia:User pages explicitly says "You are also welcome to include a simple link to your personal home page". I42 (talk) 07:02, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- WP:EL#ADV, WP:ELNO - I think this may have been used to promote his company, rather than something like a blog etc. As I don't appear to be able to access the page, I removed it, as his previous edits suggest a COI. Yes, he is allowed a link to his personal home page, but we have to ask ourselves why he has a website in the first place, which may be to promote his company, in which case it is really the company's page, disguised as his own. I also think that the fact he linked to his user page from the article, and wrote "visit my website" on top of the link perhaps suggests that. Jhbuk (talk) 11:33, 5 April 2010 (UTC)
- So it is. Forget everything I've said :) Jhbuk (talk) 18:03, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

GAN backlog elimination drive - 1 week to go
First off, on behalf of myself and my co-coordinator Wizardman, I would like to thank you for the efforts that you have made so far in this GAN backlog elimination drive. It has been nothing short of a success, and that is thanks to you. See this Signpost article about what this drive has achieved so far.
We're currently heading into the final week of the drive. At this time, if you have any GANs on review or on hold, you should be finishing off those reviews. Right now, we have more GANs on review or on hold than we do unreviewed. If you're going to start a GA review, please do so now so you can complete it by the end of the month and so that the nominator has a full 7-day window to address any concerns. See you at the finish! |

Thank you for your participation in the April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive
On behalf of my co-coordinator Wizardman, I'd like to especially thank you for your efforts over this past month's GAN backlog elimination drive. It has been nothing short of a complete success, which hopefully results in more expedient good article reviews, increasing users' confidence in the good article nomination processes. Even if you made just a small contribution, it still helped contribute to the success of this drive. Here is what we have accomplished this last month in this drive.
For those who have accomplished certain objectives in the drive, awards will be coming shortly. Again, thank you for your help in the drive, and I hope you continue to help review GA nominations and overall improve the quality of articles here on Wikipedia. |
