Hi Forino, I have some remarks about your article Timeline of category theory.

Categorical Galois theory was developed by George Janelidze. First published in his paper "Magid's theorem in categories, Bull. Georgian Acad. Sci. 114, 3, 1984, 497-500 (in Russian)". A subsequent paper "Pure Galois theory in categories, Journal of Algebra 132, 1990, 270-286."

Another important development in Category theory was around Tananaka duality. In this respect P. Deligne's work is notable. A Paper by Joyal and Street on the subject - "An introduction to Tannaka duality and quantum groups". 1990

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for your interest.

Since i only want to include important events such as key definitions, formalizig theories, proving main or fameous theorems et. you have to convince me that they are good for something more than representations of groups. Or since representation theory is not one of my favourites you may explain why they are so important there. What are the group representations good for, what can you do with them? And how general is the theory, do representations of any group form a Tannakian category and do the group reconstruction theorem hold in the general case?

As to categorical Galois theory, why is it named Grothendieck Galois theory if it is by Janelidze?

Redirects

[edit]

Simply type #REDIRECT [[some article]] to create a redirect. Notice that when you get redirected to a page you can go and click on its name near the top where it says "Redirected from ..." to edit the redirect. Pcap ping 02:48, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, if a topic is likely to require an article on its own, but you don't have the time/inclination to write it, you should also mark the redirect with {{R with possiblities}}. Pcap ping 02:50, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Underscore in titles

[edit]

It does not seem possible. But you can make the titles appear to have underscores. See the documentation for further details. But why do you need this? Pcap ping 04:28, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I need to create a page titled A-category. Fotino (talk) 13:02, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Fotino[reply]

You cannot have subscripts in the title, but A∞-category will be sufficiently clear no? Alternaltively, you could ask at WT:WikiProject_Mathematics. Someone may suggest a better alternative. In any case, the page can be moved/renamed later, so don't get hanged-up on the name. Pcap ping 13:11, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
