The world's oldest sauce is belong to an Iranian food that it's been called Khoresh-e "Fesenjan" or "Fesenjoon".In this meal, the Iranian cooked duck or chicken with pomegranate sauce (sour or sweet) which is mixed with chopped walnuts.[5]

The history of this meal dates back to the "Sassanian" period at least 2500 years ago and was dedicated to the end of the autumn and the beginning of winter "Yalda" or end of winter and the beginning of the spring in March and the "Nowruz" ceremony was cooked. Fesenjan is One of the local food of the northern region of Iran and people who living in the "Gilan" province.[6]
