Speedy deletion nomination of Matthew christopher

[edit]

Hello Matthewchristopher,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Matthew christopher for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. --    L o g  X   17:06, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Matthew Christopher. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. K6ka (talk | contribs) 10:49, 7 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Matthew Christopher has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Deletion

[edit]

Hi, thanks for message. I deleted your article because

  • it did not provide adequate independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. It is now Wikipedia policy that biographical articles about living people must have independent verifiable references, or they will be deleted. Although you gave three in-line references, none appeared to be reliable sources as defined in the link, such as major newspapers, and one was just to a blog.
  • even if we accept the two non-blog references, all they confirm is that you are married (not notable) and you made a dress for someone who isn't linked to a Wikipedia article and presumably isn't that notable. In any case, her notability appears to depend on who her dad is, but notability isn't inherited, and he's not linked to a Wikipedia article either, so also of dubious significance.
  • you have a list of bare urls at the bottom of your references, but because they are not in-line I've no idea what they are supporting. If you formatted them as <ref>[url description]</ref> and put them in-line, that would help.
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact include: most prominently known... a celebrity favorite... His list of clientele includes Debra Messing, Kristin Chenoweth, Gabourey Sidibe and others... designed several collections featured in Bride's, Martha Stewart and Modern Bride magazines...—and again, no links to articles about the claimed clients or magazines, which makes them look non-notable, despite the fact that even I have heard of some of them.
  • Your notability seems to depend on your company, but all we have is a few clients, no turnover, profits etc.
  • Not a reason for deletion, but just one link to your official website, if people want your twitter etc, they can get it from there
  • You have an obvious conflict of interest when it comes to editing articles about this subject. Thank you for declaring your interest. If, after reading the information about notability linked above, you still believe that you are notable enough for a Wikipedia article (and that there is significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources), you could, if you wish, post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest.

You could initially write a draft here, out of the line of fire. I'd be happy to comment on the draft if you wish Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:01, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Posted in your sandbox with a couple of tweaks, and without the categories which are not used in sandboxes. I didn't check the images, but note that if they have been published elsewhere without a public domain or CC BY-SA 3.0 Licence, they will be deleted eventually as copyright violations, unless you donate them to Wikipedia Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:24, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have some concerns over your username as well. It appears to be misleading - people think you are "Matthew Christopher" when you are actually not, as you mentioned on my talk page. I suggest you either create a new account and use that one, or request a username change here. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 10:43, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
With respect to the above, if you are Matthew Christopher, best to come clean. You could be blocked if you appear to be impersonating a real person. Alternatively, follow k6ka's suggestion and request a name change. Note that if the name is thought to represent the company, rather than the individual, you could be indefinitely blocked for a promotional user nameJimfbleak - talk to me? 11:52, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Back to the article.
  • Format the refs like I've shown in green above, I've done the first one for you.
  • You have three stray refs loitering at the bottom of the page, use them in the text or lose them
  • You have introduced two url links into the text, url links should only be present in references or external links.
  • mos thing, refs should immediately follow punctuation, not precede.
  • the only referenced text is for the films. Whilst your personal life can get by without, you need some referenced facts about your company. At the moment, your notability seems to rest on one of your dresses being worn in a not-yet-released film. Your only other referenced person, Jordan Elway, seems not to be notable herself. That's not sufficient for encyclopaedic notability. Without more verifiable facts about the company and its alleged celebrity customers, it will fail on notability grounds.

This sort of communication should be on user talk pages, particularly when the article does not currently exist. I copied the message below for your convenience. Thanks! VQuakr (talk) 07:01, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand your reference to another editor mentioning offending material. Can you point me to it? I'm not satisfied on the evidence you have presented that your company is notable, so I've started a discussion, see the automatic message above. I'll look at the page you commented on Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:13, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest that you strike your AFD comment for the reasons suggested by TokyoGirl, and justify keeping your article, not criticising another. If you wish to donate those images, read this Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:52, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
