FA congratulations again

Just a quick note to congratulate you on the promotion of Ontario Highway 61 to FA status recently. If you would like to see this (or any other FA) appear as "Today's featured article" soon (either on a particular date or on any available date), please nominate it at the requests page. If you'd like to see an FA appear on a particular date in the next year or so, please add it to the "pending" list. In the absence of a request, the article may end up being picked at any time (although with about 1,293 articles waiting their turn at present, there's no telling how long – or short! – the wait might be). If you'd got any TFA-related questions or problems, please let me know. BencherliteTalk 20:39, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Well, it will be a while yet before it can go onto the pending page, as I hope to nominate it for August 18, 2017 - the 100th anniversary of its inauguration. However, you'll be pleased to know that my first solo and (IMO) most monumental FA will be nominated for November 10th in about a day or so. Cheers! - Floydian τ ¢ 21:32, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Resetting noms

I am not sure exactly what you need to do to reset a nomination. However, you can try WP:AN and/or WT:GAN for advice.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:16, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

I think it's just a case of deleting the /GA1 subpage, but the red tape of wikidiocracy rolls out. Raised it at WT:GAN though - Floydian τ ¢ 12:59, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Before you revert this Ebola topic too...

Before you revert this too, take the time to read just a few articles from the local Sierra Leone papers...

An exasperated Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Sarian Kamara was shown on television this week appealing for people to “stop throwing dead bodies on the streets”. She begged Freetown residents to “leave your dead bodies in your houses” until the Ministry arrived to collect dead bodies from the houses. She lamented that “Everyday, we are being called about dead bodies in the streets”.[1]

"I contracted Ebola because of love, I was caring for my mother and father who have now died of the disease","My parents were responsible for my schooling, now I do not know what to do, who will support me to complete my studies"[2]

Mabinty Bangura, only 4 years old. She also lost both her parents and at her very tender age, Mabinty is going to an empty home, without her biological mother and father.[3]

These are the truths of what is going on in these area's.. While not within the Ebola area, I am well traveled into the deep poor Southern African area's as part of a company trying to bring affordable drinking water to impoverished area's.. I have seen the 100's queing up for simple services that you take for granted (because I did too before I had to live there for a week).. Many of these people live without refrigeration, Microwave, actually without even electricity and walk for miles to gather water, food, firewood and medicines..

So go ahead and cut all the Trivia you feel is not important to you from the Ebola articles, just know that to many within the affected regions, what you take for granted, and what is so unimportant to you, is a matter of life or death for them....

I really don't think its fair to say that I'm trying to supress info or don't care for the situation at hand. Fact is, I do, and I've watched this article for nearly a year now. I've witnessed it fall into disorder ever since the american case sprung up. I feel the information has become fragmented, repetitive, inconsistent, and overly detailed with every little story that emerges... hence why people feel we need a "key facts" article. The problem is that wikipedia articles should already summarize the abundance of information into key facts... but everyone wants to make their mark on the article. Rest assured, though we may differ on our opinions, we both want what is best for the article. Cheers, Floydian τ ¢ 17:38, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
Speaking of deletions... *Gandy starts to snarl and show her teeth...but ends up gritting them instead...* Really, you'd think that just one editor could not cause so much disruption and take so much of the joy out editing, but I guess we need to deal with all sorts here. I'm still interested in trying to bring the three country articles up to snuff, but I have found that it will take a few editors supporting the changes that need to be made to make it possible. Are you interested in helping with the Guinea article? BTW, thanks for your ongoing honesty in your comments - I was ready to walk away from the article more than once, and it was only your honesty and willingness to put the obvious into words that kept me going at some times. Gandydancer (talk) 11:04, 13 October 2014 (UTC)
I'm no good at writing new content for medical articles. I'm better at cleaning up the existing content, reorganizing, making things consistent, and trouting troublemakers... But yes, this one editor is causing quite an issue, RfCing every little thing (do we really need one to determine whether to use the actual name of Medicines sans Frontiers (which is how they refer to it in Canada as well) or to use English for all the stupids. I doubt we'll see these articles have some semblance of order until after the American stuff dies down. - Floydian τ ¢ 15:47, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
Hmmmm.... it seems your only good at REVERTING, and disrupting ongoing cleanup efforts.....go try reverting this current events tag... Gremlinsa (talk) 06:47, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

Cleanup efforts involve trimming pages. I think what you meant is I'm trying to hamper indiscriminate collections of useless trivial information from piling up on these articles. Thanks for the bait, I'll use it to go fishing. Good day. - Floydian τ ¢ 18:33, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

wasn't closed by an admin

It might interest you to know the Ebola RFC actually was not closed by an admin. Zad68 19:31, 19 October 2014 (UTC)

It does... the farce continues. I've reverted it, far too controversial for a non-admin closure IMO. - Floydian τ ¢ 19:53, 19 October 2014 (UTC)

Invitation to RfC

The mediation Wikipedia talk:Requests for mediation/Ayers Rock (band) have convened an RfC in order to stimulate discussion on the key issue in the mediation. Unfortunately, only a few Wikipedians have expressed an opinion which is causing a dilemma. All parties have agreed on a shortlist of editors whose thoughts, and experience we believe will be valuable to this RfC. You are, therefore, personally invited to assist us, by giving your opinion, whatever that may be at the Ayers Rock RfC CaesarsPalaceDude (talk) 10:06, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

This is to inform you that Ontario Highway 401, which you nominated at WP:FAC, will appear on the Wikipedia Main Page as Today's Featured Article on 10 November 2014. The proposed main page blurb is here; you may amend if necessary. Please check for dead links and other possible faults before the appearance date. Brianboulton (talk) 22:57, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

Precious again! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:15, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Track list numbering

There is currently a Rfc and discussion at Template talk:Track listing#RfC regarding track listings, about how the songs in a track listing should be numbered. The result could have repercussions for every article of albums originally released in vinyl. If you are interested, please join in the discussion there. Lewismaster (talk) 13:42, 24 October 2014 (UTC)

FAC

Hey, if you get a chance there were a few sourcing questions that came up at your FAC. We've tried to handle as much as we can, but there's two sources that we don't have full citations for. Let us know if you need help, and hope all is well. --Rschen7754 05:00, 30 October 2014 (UTC)

Hopefully I can get a chance to get some online time in the next few days. I'm confined to ten minute trips to Tim Horton's wifi at this point. - Floydian τ ¢ 18:24, 30 October 2014 (UTC)
By the way, ON 401 got 26,000 views, the 3rd highest in recorded HWY history. Congrats! --Rschen7754 05:35, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
