AfD nomination of Dayne Walling

[edit]

Dayne Walling, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Dayne Walling satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dayne Walling and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Dayne Walling during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. — Coren (talk) 23:23, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Dayne Walling.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dayne Walling.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:07, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Image:Nilerodgers_guitar.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Nilerodgers_guitar.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 02:24, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article Eric Ogden (photographer) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. TKK bark ! 13:14, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Uploading pix to Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi. I appreciate you are contributing your own photos to Wikipedia. A couple of points. 1) it is generally preferred, but not necessary, to upload to Wikipedia Commons. One advantage of this is that if they are orphaned they don't get deleted like they do here, another is that they will show up better on image searches> They can still be used with the File: code in wikipedia.

The other thing is licensing. If you don't confirm authorship by email, you may find your pix being put up for deletion as potential copyvio. The way to avoid this is simply to write to OTRS confirming the license. Details are at Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for_all enquiries. If you do this you can then post up pix with {{OTRS pending}} in the licence tag - that'll keep the deleting dogs at bay. Wwwhatsup (talk) 08:45, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Joe Strummer mural.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Joe Strummer mural.jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 08:54, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree File:Shawn G. Chittle (left) and DJ Grand Wizzard Theodore.JPG

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Shawn G. Chittle (left) and DJ Grand Wizzard Theodore.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you object to the listing for any reason. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:13, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:Benhamper.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! Orphaned non-free image File:Rod Temperton.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Rod Temperton.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 19:06, 11 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
