Hi Paul,

Thanks so much for this note. I am not exactly sure how to reply so I will write here. I would be very interested to hear more about your research. I was very surprised that wikipedia has so little info on SOD1 ALS mutations. As time goes by, I will add more. I did my Ph.D. thesis on ALS, though I now work mostly on cancer.

Florian, usually one would respond directly to the other user's talkpage but this is fine too! I used to work at King's College Hopsital which set up the ALSOD database, perhaps you've heard of it? A4V and ALS

Hi there and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions on the A4V mutation in ALS. I am an ALS researcher myself (neuropsychologist) and have met many familial patients in Europe, where we do not have the A4V mutation. FYI my research found that SOD1 ALS patients tend not to have cognitive problems relative to other non-SOD1 FALS patients, however my patients were I113T, G93R, etc. and we have no A4V in Europe. I also collaborated with a colleague Dr Martin Turner who PET scanned some D90A mutations from Sweden and found a different pattern of cortical involvement to sporadic ALS. Notability of Roderick Bronson

A tag has been placed on Roderick Bronson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.
