Tony Award article assessment

You're doing a great job with these articles, and all the ones you do have all the facts in them needed to make them at least start class. But until there are more sources and narrative descriptions and analysis of the year's awards, perhaps discussing notable firsts and statistics, and also discussing the broadcast itself, including the performances at the ceremony, it would be hard to consider them B-class. Just to save time, I'd suggest you go ahead and note them as "start" class when you finish each one, and then we can upgrade them if they get more analytical/narrative content in the future. Silly voice parts, again; OR, "Stop the Madness"

Ado Annie is certainly a mezzo-soprano (not a soprano), but the voice part listing is silly in musicals like Oklahoma!. The Stage Agent website is not authoritative at all on this point. I suggest removing the voice part indicators. Then you can turn the "Voice Part" table into a table with the names of the principal roles foillowed by names of notable people who played them in the various productions. We have such a table in a couple of articles, but I am hopeless at tables, so I leave it to you if you want to do it. Yup, "bargain counter baritone", as Peter Schikele says. I had to sing it to a pre-recorded MIDI file accompaniment, so I have no control over how fast each phrase goes, but I was reasonably satisfied with the recording, and we wanted to put a copyright-free recording into Thespis (opera), so this was the easiest way to do it. Chenoweth

She's getting close to B-class, but there is still too much unreferenced info. Perhaps the refs are in the links at the bottom, but I don't have time to go thru them now. If the links are just to fan sites that don't give us any more info, they should be deleted. Also, there is too much emphasis on upcoming projects and on things that never happened because of conflicts. I don't think it's very encyclopedic to talk about upcoming stuff. I'd wait until it happens and then describe it, along with citations to independent reviews. Anyhow, the article is much better due to today's work, especially your new references. Wow. Annie has a huge amount of (IMO) non-notable info. I did some work on it, but the tour descriptions have lots of non-notable names and non-notable/unreferenced info - is the anecdote about the abandoned black poodle really encyclopedic? Just letting you know that as the videos themselves are not on wikipedia, they do not violate any copywrite rules for wikipedia. Wikipedia is not responsible for sites that articles are externally linked to. There are many pages that have youtube links on wikipedia and have had them for some time. A Hairspray fun fact list

I remember trying to add a message board that I run to the Hairspray links list a few weeks back, and you removed it. Since then I have created a *closed* topic entitled 'fun facts' which has info not found on the wikipedia page (and probably not anywhere else)... the info on this list has been passed onto the show's producing office to ensure all of it is 100% accurate and it cant be changed or commented on by regular users. This list includes technical specs, plot holes and other tidbits about the stage show. Is there any way that this page can be added as a link without it violating the no forums rule? Glory Days (musical); Bernadette

Glory Days was obviously deleted in error - the article must not have clearly explained that it was about to open on Broadway, and I am guessing (I never saw it) that it didn't have enough info in it. I asked an administrator to re-instate it, so I hope it's back up soon. As for the young Miss Peters (I can't believe she's 60. I must be old), I am happy to help out how/wherever I can. Just call, and I'll be there....

Hmm, trying to remember--Female authority figure is Prudy Pingleton, Gym Teacher, Matron; Male authority figure (this is from the official site) is Harriman F. Spritzer, Principal, Mr. Pinky, Guard. Thanks for working on The Pirate Queen. It looks like once the show tanked, the editors abandoned the article. I think to tie it off, it needs a cite that supports a final verdict on the show's critical reception (maybe there's a "roundup" of reviews?) and something about the box office or amount that the show lost. Then, I think, the article will at least tell the whole story (if not in great detail), unless it gets revived someday. This seems like a job for SuperJean? BTW, if you want to see my latest WP article, check out Robert the Devil (Gilbert). I'm getting close to having a full set of G's major plays on WP. Footnotes in headings; Awards, etc.

Here's a recurring issue: In the awards section, you generally footnote the source at the end of the heading. I cannot find a guideline on this in the MOS (am I missing it?) It seems to me that headings should not have notes, but I see the problem: It is awkward to figure out where to put the footnote. However, I think that the awards section can be treated like the Synopsis section: You don't need a footnote right in the section, you can just add a reference under the "References" heading at the bottom that says something like *[http, etc "Laurence Olivier Awards information for Xanadu]. Frankly, as I've said before, I think we are listing too many awards, and they take up too much space in these articles. I would suggest only listing both winners and noms for Tonys and Oliviers (if the show played in the West End or B'way), and for other awards, only list winners (and don't list any info for awards that are not truly a big deal). Of course, if a show did not play on the WE or B'way, an Obie or Drama Desk award, etc. would be more important. I'd like to hear your thinking about this, since you're doing the bulk of the work in this area. Well, as I said, my preference would be to just put the ref at the bottom of the article in the refs section. I would definitely list Tonys and Oliviers just the way you are doing it, and then winners of the other awards that you think are really significant (e.g., Drama Desk). You know much more about the significance of awards than I do, so I would go ahead with the ones that you think really add to the encyclopedia reader's information. I'm thinking that when a show is eligible for Tony awards, an Outer Circle Critic's Award *nomination* may not really significant, but as I say, I don't know, and you are much more familiar with the industry than I am. Of course, an important off-B'way play, for instance, is not eligible for Tonys, so the Drama Desk and Obie become more important.... I will follow your lead, because you are doing all the work here, but maybe I can save you a little bit of work. Hi, I used the "rollback" feature on 11:37, May 13, 2008, because User Special:Contributions/172.143.113.180 had deleted the entire article and added his/her comment :"fame s****s". Here is the specific action I took: [2]. I restored the article to the version immediately preceding this obvious vandalism; if I inadvertently did not get the Dutch musical-numbers and the cast that you refer to, sorry, that was not my intention! I merely wanted to restore the article to the version before the vandal and remove the inappropriate comment.

The article was reorganized on April 22, 2008, as you can see here: [3]; I did not perform those edits/reorganization. It appears that I am not the editor you need to speak with (although I see that the material is in the article last paragraph of "Productions around the world", although not in exactly its original version).

On a Clear Day You Can See Forever

Hello, Jean. I'm putting the finishing touches on the film article, so you may want to remove all the info related to the differences between the play and the film, since I'm including it in the new article, where it's more relevant. Also, can't something be done to fix the Playbill image? In the film infobox, images can be adjusted by citing the number of pixels, i.e., 150px, 200px, etc., and I notice you designated the Playbill image as 180px, but it still is enlarged and blurred. Dear Hbdragon, IMO ACL is not even close to comprehensive. Where is the background/genesis section? Critical response section? Box office info? Analysis of the book and music? See the article structure page at WP:MUSICALS for more guidance on topics that a musicals article might cover. If you do decide to do a research project to expand and improve the article, post a message at the Musicals project talk page, and some of us are likely to help out. If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Just my 2c here: Marvin Laird is only mentioned in the one place. If he's important to her life, maybe he should be mentioned more than once. Otherwise, maybe the new statement should go in a footnote. Is he notable (that is, does he deserve an article?). If not, it may be that he really doesn't need to be mentioned. It's a close call.
