Speedy deletion nomination of Beer Sommelier
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Beer Sommelier requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ttonyb (talk) 20:50, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Beer sommelier, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please disregard these warnings. I am sure the editor who placed them here will explain why, shortly. Thanks, and thanks for your contributions. Drmies (talk) 21:34, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
Hey Firebuild. To get the list of references on a page, place {{Reflist}} at the bottom of the page but make sure it is above the categories. --The Master of Mayhem 21:46, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, I am off to work now and will have to edit more later. I have no intention other than contributing. It seems by the removal of external links I am not allowed to quote relevant websites? is that right? I feel as though everyone is watching me as i type....- very unnerving!
- Welcome to the world of Big Brother! Hey, when you come back, that source you've been trying to add is not going to help--it's not a reliable source (see WP:RS). Try searching Google books. Gotta run, Drmies (talk) 21:55, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, see WP:CITE. Remember, friends don't let friends drink cheap beer. Drmies (talk) 21:59, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Drmies I have deleted it and will work on it later!
- One of the underlying concerns is that the Etymology Online website is not a sufficiently reliable source. Sources that would boost the article would be stories about beer sommeliers in major newspapers (New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Times of London), in magazines (including food-oriented ones), or on television (Food Network and Cooking Channel would be obvious places to look). —C.Fred (talk) 22:29, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
What about organisations that offer Beer sommelier training? if I link to them is that frowned upon?
Thank you

Fairy cakes
[edit]Hello there. The source you provided didn't seem to say anything about the size of fairy cakes in relation to cupcakes, as far as I could see. Do you think you could find a source that specifically compares the two types of cake? --McGeddon (talk) 21:23, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Manhattan (Cocktail) edit
[edit]Hello. The problem is that not everything belongs in Wikipedia. In a situation like this we need a reliable source (click here) to establish that this variation exists and is notable. What it comes down to is that every claim in Wikipedia needs to be verifiable by any reader who comes along. If this particular variation is only known at a few bars then it is unlikely that it is notable and very unlikely that future readers would be able to verify its existence. Therefore it does not yet belong in Wikipedia. If a book that is a reliable source publishes the recipe then it might be fine for inclusion. SQGibbon (talk) 20:10, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Addition to Beer Sommelier
[edit]Hi! I noticed your recent edit to Beer Sommelier, adding the reference to the IBD. I wonder, given your association with the organization, if that's not a bit too WP:COI. Are there some others that could also be listed in the sentence in addition to the IBD in order to give the paragraph some balance? Or perhaps a paragraph that discusses the certifying organizations and their differences? Just something to give it balance. Prof. Mc (talk) 12:30, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
You are right, Cicerone is already mentioned (briefly) but looking at equivalent wine article It deserves a better paragragh about all the different certifications. For the record I do not work for or represent the IBD, I merely did an exam set and sanctioned by them. I will delete the addition and work on a separate paragraph about certification. Firebuild (talk) 19:09, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- I wouldn't delete it. Maybe just figure a way to improve it slightly. I agree that it deserves something more than what it has, especially given its growing popularity. Prof. Mc (talk) 19:11, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for November 20
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Aromatised wine, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Wormwood and Americano. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:45, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
Dear Wikipedian, you recently voted in the ArbCom election. Your username, along with around 155 other usernames of your fellow Wikipedians, was randomly selected from the 2000+ Wikipedians who voted this year, with the help of one of the election-commissioners. If you are willing, could you please participate (at your option either on-wiki via userspace or off-wiki via email) in an exit poll, and answer some questions about how you decided amongst the ArbCom candidates?
If you decide to participate in this exit poll, the statistical results will be published in the Signpost, an online newspaper with over 1000 Wikipedians among the readership. There are about twelve questions, which have alphanumerical answers; it should take you a few minutes to complete the exit poll questionnaire, and will help improve Wikipedia by giving future candidates information about what you think is important. This is only an unofficial survey, and will have no impact on your actual vote during this election, nor in any future election.
All questions are individually optional, and this entire exit poll itself is also entirely optional, though if you choose not to participate, I would appreciate a brief reply indicating why you decided not to take part (see Question Zero). Thanks for being a Wikipedian
The questionnaire
[edit]Dear Wikipedian, please fill out these questions -- at your option via usertalk or via email, see Detailed Instructions at the end of the twelve questions -- by putting the appropriate answer in the blanks provided. If you decide not to answer a question (all questions are optional), please put the reason down: "undecided" / "private information" / "prefer not to answer" / "question is not well-posed" / "other: please specify". Although the Signpost cannot guarantee that complex answers can be processed for publication, it will help us improve future exit polls, if you give us comments about why you could not answer specific questions.

Processing of responses will be performed in batches of ten, prior to publication in the Signpost. GamerPro64 will be processing the email-based answers, and will strive to maintain the privacy of your answers (as well as your email address and the associated IP address typically found in the email-headers), though of course as a volunteer effort, we cannot legally guarantee that GamerPro64 will have a system free from computer virii, we cannot legally guarantee that GamerPro64 will resist hypothetical bribes offered by the KGB/NSA/MI6 to reveal your secrets, and we cannot legally guarantee that GamerPro64 will make no mistakes. If you choose to answer on-wiki, your answers will be visible to other Wikipedians. If you choose to answer via email, your answers will be sent unencrypted over the internet, and we will do our best to protect your privacy, but unencrypted email is inherently an improper mechanism for doing so.
