Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Felicity Rice. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Sahar Hashemi, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Edwardx (talk) 14:05, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there, I am updating Sahar Hashemi's wiki page as it is out of date -I work for her, but all the info is correct and unbiased and backed up with links and sources so it is not a conflict of interest? Felicity Rice (talk) 14:36, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- I've also noticed that all the changes I made have now gone? Despite being correct and verified? Is there a way to change this please? Felicity Rice (talk) 14:37, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, Felicity Rice. Phrases such as "a vibrant community of over 1,800 brands" are not unbiasesd. As to a conflict of interest, I am unable to see how you could reasonably claim not to have have one. You should read the above message again and study the conflict of interest guideline. - Ah okay I can see that sentance isn’t verified - but all the other verified info and links have also been removed? 2A02:C7C:CBC2:A800:B8CA:1916:7311:602 (talk) 18:08, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- How can I update the page with factual info in this case? 2A02:C7C:CBC2:A800:B8CA:1916:7311:602 (talk) 18:09, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- I fully understand the COI concerns but how best to update the page in this instance? 2A02:C7C:CBC2:A800:B8CA:1916:7311:602 (talk) 18:10, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- Please read propose changes and disclose above. And do bear in mind that I am an unpaid volunteer. Edwardx (talk) 19:37, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
- Fully understand you are a volunteer! Is there anyone at Wikipedia I can speak to instead? 2A02:C7C:CBC2:A800:10A3:DD14:CFA:EFE5 (talk) 09:38, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you. I suppose one might seek help at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. But again, they will be volunteers and you are being paid, so the onus is on you to take the time and effort to learn how things are done here. What you really need to do is make a COI disclosure, and then propose any changes you are seeking at Talk:Sahar Hashemi. Edwardx (talk) 10:43, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
