COIN and outing

[edit]

If you want to take your issue to COIN, here's what you should keep in mind. First, don't include anything about Wikipedians that you can't find on-wiki. Second, don't include any suspicions you have about Wikipedians that are based on what you've read off-wiki. Third, keep it short and to the point. You're suggesting a conflict with Sarason only. Forget about Nelsondenis. The account was renamed according to policy, and all of Nelsondenis's contributions have been absorbed under Sarason's contributions. If you have any questions, let me or one of the other involved administrators know. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:59, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for the info! FWIW, I can't stand people who dox others, so imagine my embarrassment...
For future reference, let's say the user in question reverts all the great article revisions made tonight and continues the behavior I reported. I plan to bring it to COIN if that happens. But say, just for example, that I'm sure that something I found off-wiki, or the connection via his old username, is appropriate to my COIN report. Is there a way to include things like that? I saw a mention of email on the WP:OUTING page, but nothing specific. Do I state in my COIN report that I'm concerned about 'showing too much' and request a way to contact an interested, available admin? Or is there already a general email address for that sort of thing? FekketCantenel (talk) 02:07, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'd not even go there. Not worth the trouble and unnecessary. BTW, read at NPOVN what Drmies just posted. As is usual for him, he attacked the underlying problem head-on. Will probably eliminate the need for a report. I haven't yet done what he asked me to do, though, and probably won't get to it until at the earliest tomorrow. Time to eat din-din.--Bbb23 (talk) 02:12, 23 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
