Flag icon beside the year in national badminton team

[edit]

Hi Fanminton, per your contribution in some national badminton team articles, i see that you added flag icon beside the year. Per Wikipedia rules MOS:FLAGS, we should not put the flag beside the year. So, i hope you will remove that.. Thanks.. Stvbastian (talk) 05:24, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for the mistake. Did you mean the flags in the competitive records? Fanminton (talk) 05:27, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

Congratulations for making so many articles related to Badminton Africa, which were long ignored (including by myself) & your biggest contribution in all the badminton team articles of all the countries. I would just like to request you to please also put the WikiProject Banners on the respective talk pages of the articles you make. For example, if you make an article for South Africa, you may create a talk page with atleast these two tags: {{WikiProject South Africa|class=|importance=}} & {{WikiProject Badminton|class=|importance=}}. Thankyou! zoglophie•talk• 15:31, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2024 Pan Am Male & Female Badminton Cup, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Brian Yang. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 06:01, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

1971 Asian badminton championship

[edit]

can you please provide the source for bronze medal match, if its there in this tournament? I see you removed some medalists but did not justify it with any reference. zoglophie•talk• 02:16, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas and Uber Cup

[edit]

I sent you a link from the IBF Handbook for all Thomas and Uber Cup results up to 1967. Hope that eases data searching. Best, Florentyna (talk) 19:43, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi Fanminton, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Just Step Sideways from this world ..... today 21:25, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • As stated above, you are now an autopatrolled user, so your pages will not be monitored strictly like before, so its advisable to add relevant talk page with wikiproject tags yourself as it helps to determine the relevancy of the page you created. Thankyou. zoglophie•talk• 05:52, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Fanminton! I noticed that you set up Republic of China national badminton team as a redirect to Chinese Taipei national badminton team and then shifted it to being a disambiguation page. It would seem to me like it would be better off as the original redirect. Right now, everything linking to it seems to be associated with Taiwan (the flags in the associated "bd|ROC" ( Republic of China) template, etc). I almost changed it back myself, but I wanted to check if there was some complexity involved where the teams used to be combined or changed names or something. I ran across the dab page while patrolling links to disambiguation pages, and I am familiar with some of the particulars of Chinese national teams in other sports like soccer, but I do not know about the particulars of badminton.

Generally, when there is a link pointed to a disambiguation page, it is a mistake, so there is a project to try to fix these. For example, the 1976 Thomas Cup article links to this disambiguation page, so someone interested reading more on this team based on that article would have to click two links - first they would go to the dab page, and then they would have to know which team was indicated (which could be confusing for the reader when one says "Republic of China" and one says "Chinese Taipei"). Ideally this would be fixed so that the initial link would go directly to the desired team - either by updating the link provided by the "bd" template or by turning the dab page into a redirect. I'm happy with doing either myself, I just wanted to check with you whether there is a preferred solution. Cleancutkid (talk) 05:47, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I actually don't know how to change it so if you can help change it that would be great. Prior to the 1980s, the People's Republic of China refused to join the Badminton World Federation because the Chinese Taipei national badminton team used to compete under the name Republic of China. Because of this, the People's Republic of China were not recognized by the BWF in international events which led to the creation of the rival World Badminton Federation. Fanminton (talk) 07:06, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks for the info! I have updated it to be a redirect, which I believe should work the way you want it to - when there's a 1970s article about ROC badminton, the links will redirect to the Chinese Taipei article. Cleancutkid (talk) 22:28, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

1987 asian championships

[edit]

I'm not confident about Indra Gunawan being in the Indonesian team in 1987. He was 40 by then, so it seems unlikely that he participated in that tournament. Most likely it has to be Rudy Gunawan and i found it in Lianhe Wanbao an year ago. Also chinese newspapers tend to use corrupted version of foreign names, so it becomes even more difficult. zoglophie•talk• 13:56, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It is Rudy Gunawan. Apologies. My mistake. I have reedited the results. Fanminton (talk) 19:44, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, with the current African AirBadminton Championships going on, is it okay if someone made an article about the African AirBadminton Championships or should an article about air badminton be created first? Fanminton (talk) 19:47, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are free to make any article you wish to, just make sure its notable enough. zoglophie•talk• 06:14, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
