Editing style
[edit]May I give you some advice about editing?
- Below the edit box is a small box labelled "Edit summary (Briefly describe the changes you have made)". Into that you should type a few words describing the edit you are making. That helps other people looking at the article to understand its history, and makes it less likely that your edits will be mistaken for vandalism. - see WP:Edit summary for more detail.
- You are making very large numbers of small edits. It is better to use the "Show preview" button to make sure that a change you have made has the effect you wanted, then make the next change, "Show preview" again, and so on, pressing "Save page" only when you have accumulated several changes. Large numbers of small edits make it hard to follow the article's history, and increase the load on the servers, which have to keep a copy of every version that is saved.

File copyright problem with File:BEAST BOY2.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:BEAST BOY2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Eeekster (talk) 22:55, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Possibly unfree File:BEAST BOY3.jpg
[edit]A file that you uploaded or altered, File:BEAST BOY3.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. feydey (talk) 15:16, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 19:12, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:Impact_FC.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Impact_FC.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 00:41, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Directing to fighters
[edit]Hi, first of all, I'd like to point out that this message isn't intended to criticise, only request. I know you mean well in linking to all of these fighters in MMA record boxes, but all it does is add a lot of red links and in some cases, actually like to utterly irrelevant people (e.g. as your edit to Luis Dutra Jr. did earlier on). Now while these errors can be corrected, it just leads to possibilities that people may create articles by these fighters names, that actually AREN'T the fighters themselves, which leads to confusion. To my mind, it's far easier to leave them black in most cases and if a particular fighter's article is created, it's easy to go and search them out and place a valid link.
If you could perhaps rethink your habit of linking, that would be great. Thanks. Paralympiakos (talk) 20:50, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I don't doubt for a moment your good faith in writing articles about fighters. However, only famous people who have made their mark on the sport should have an entry in the encyclopedia. Two questions to ask yourself: Does he pass WP:NSPORT? Does the article pass WP:BLP? (blogs and MySpace ae not suitable refernces - see WP:RS). I haven't tagged he article for deletion but someone else might.--Kudpung (talk) 00:39, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
- Looks like your man has only ever played seven fights. Now admittedly I know nothing about sports, but do check out the links I provided in the message above. There's a lot to read but it will avoid you the risk of having your hard work deleted later by an administrator. The kind of references needed for biographies of living people are ones from leading newspaers and magazines, TV news programmes, and very official web pages that can't be altered or added to by just anyone and which are likely to remain in place for a very long time. (That cuts out all social networking sites.) If you need help with anything about editing, you can often catch me here: WP:EAR.--Kudpung (talk) 01:10, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Eric Prindle, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.gladiatorchallenge.com/news.asp?ID=303.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. License tagging for File:DMasonStraus.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:DMasonStraus.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 03:05, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Future fights in fight records
[edit]Over at the MMA WikiProject the addition of future fights to a fighter's record history has been discussed a couple times. The consensus in those discussions was that a fight should not go in the fight record until after it happens. This is because a fight can be cancelled for any reason up to the start of the bout (I know of a UFC fight relatively recently that was canceled the afternoon of the fight to occur). If you disagree with the removal of future fights from the fight records you are more than welcome to add your opinions to the discussions that happen at the WikiProject. Thanks. --TreyGeek (talk) 22:53, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- When was this made official? A couple of guys can't just say "ok this is how its going to be." Thats what happened with the flag icons. I see you guys just brought this up 3 days ago. A new argument that is just brought up doesnt mean you should all suddenly go by it. Falcons8455 (talk) 22:59, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- Did you read the comments where the consensus was originally developed over two years ago? No one has argued against that consensus since then so it would still be technically correct to follow it. I would encourage you to participate in all the discussions at the WikiProject, I think differing opinions are good. Be sure that you are able to provide arguments other than personal preference. For example, be able to debate why a fighter's record table is not a history of their fights (adding a future bout no longer makes it a history). Be able to debate why future bouts avoids conflict with WP:CRYSTAL. Just like in real life, if you don't participate, your voice won't be heard. I would also suggest you look at the discussion about the bot I'm developing to cleanup/fix fighter articles. I really would hate to modify 1500+ articles for someone to come in later and complain about it. Thanks --TreyGeek (talk) 23:08, 23 June 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry then. I thought you guys were just adding it now. Falcons8455 (talk) 00:10, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, it looks like the article Daniel Perez (fighter) has been vandalized. I can't work out where the last clean version is (it might be all the way back at 31 July). Could you take a look at it. Thanks. Tassedethe (talk) 22:34, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Chris Barnett.png
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Chris Barnett.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. TreyGeek (talk) 00:31, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:DMasonStraus.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:DMasonStraus.png, which you've sourced to Daniel Straus' Facebook. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mtking (edits) 08:13, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for April 26
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited Geronimo dos Santos, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Boa Vista (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The file File:Bryan Goldsby.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
