Please see our rules about Conflict of Interest. As they say, even with Conflict of Interest you may edit, provided you do so objectively. It is not advised, because experience shows that a person will have great difficulty writing an objective article about themselves.

As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of the organization wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know. If you think you can do it right according to the guidelines, do so, but expect the article to be carefully checked for objectivity.

However, your username is the name of the organization; this is never permitted, and you must choose another username. As explained in WP:USER, only individuals may edit. When you have a username that is or includes or is related to the name of your organization, you imply that you are editing officially, and have a superior right to edit the page. But that is not the way WP works--all editors are considered equal--and your contributions like those of any editor must be justified by sources. I'm sure you do not intend to give such impression, but that's why we have the rule. Therefore, please choose another name. On that user page, you should say whom you are working for.

You proposed deletion of the The Fairchild Challenge article, saying "Our page was initially created by a company that was contracted some years ago and who is no longer affiliated with The Fairchild Challenge or our institution, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. It is necessary for us to delete the page since the majority of it is outdated and more importantly, our institution does not have administrative control over its content. We ask that you please do not deny our request so that the current administrator can accept our request to delete the page seven days from now. Thank you in advance for your cooperation."

However, you can not expect to have control over the content of a Wikipedia article. If the article needs updating, it can be edited to reflect the current situation as well as the history. But it must be edited objectively, using another username, as described above. That the article was originally created for you commercially is not a good sign--it will need to be very carefully checked for freedom from promotionalism, as will be your edits when you make them.

As reviewing administrator, in order to enforce our user name policies, I must block the present username. This does not prevent your editing under another name, but please take the above comments into careful consideration and do it properly. If you need help, ask me on my user talk page.
