The English-language version of Wikipedia uses the wp:COMMONNAME. English speakers mostly know what Mecca is, but not Mekkah. I surmise the correct spelling is مكة المكرمة but I doubt fewer native-English speakers would recognize that vesion. Please read COMMONNAME. Thank you Adakiko (talk) 07:01, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
Correct Spelling is Makkah. Mecca in Arabic is know as an bar.so it's and disrespect to the holy mosque Fahd1ahmed (talk) 07:07, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
Correct spelling of Mecca
[edit]The correct and primary spelling of Mecca is Makkah. Mecca is not the correct spelling. How should I edit that name. Fahd1ahmed (talk) 07:06, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
- English speakers call "Deutschland" - "Germany", "Italia" - "Italy"; "Danmark" is called "Denmark". Likewise, the Danes call the "United States of America" "Amerikas Forenede Stater". Just about every language uses alternates. You should talk with the people who compile dictionaries. I You could try talk:Mecca, I but doubt you will have success getting it changed here. Wikipedia uses or is supposed to use wp:COMMONNAME. Dictionary.com doesn't recognize Mekkah, wikt:Mekkah: nope. Neither does Merriam Webster Adakiko (talk) 08:18, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
It's Makkah not Mekkah Fahd1ahmed (talk) 08:30, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
