Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Hello, Fabio A Mantegazza. After reading the IBTimes source it says nothing about having died or committed suicide. So you are free to remove that, thanks for catching it -- that's a serious WP:BLP violation. However it does say "The other son, Fabio, is the chief executive of the Monarch." Is this wrong, therefore? What conflict of interest does Morality1 have? Please reply here, see WP:BRD. Reply to questions by my name is not dave[edit]

I was never Monarch Airlines or Monarch Travel Group Chief Executive. That is simply incorrect. My source on this is myself (I should know something about that), but records of Monarch Group CEO appointments and Board of Director memberships can be checked to confirm.

Morality1 is a single issue editor who started editing the article to raise matters to do with Monarch Airlines Final Salaries Pension Scheme members in 2016 and has removed edits by cjfbutcher trying to give a more balanced and truthful view of issues surrounding the taking over of the Monarch Final Salary Pension Scheme by the PPF in 2014. The entries by cjfbutcher which he removed and replaced with his comments were far more balanced representations of what actually happened, in what was a fairly complex situation. Morality1 removed them and replaced them by more tendentious, limited quotes.

The impression he wishes to give is that Sergio Mantegazza dumped the Pension scheme in the same way in which the BHS pension scheme was dumped by previous owners of BHS. Nothing could be further from the truth, as the regulatory record shows (available online, here http://www.thepensionsregulator.gov.uk/docs/regulatory-intervention-section-89-monarch.pdf), and this issue in any event should be given proper perspective in an article that claims to be about Sergio Mantegazza's entire life rather than be made the dominant issue on what is otherwise a fairly uninformative, telegraphic article. For instance, no mention is made of his induction in the British travel Industry Hall of Fame.

Morality1 has also edited Wikipedia articles about Greybull Capital and Iain Rawlinson, all people and entities connected to Monarch Airlines, its sale in 2014 and the Pension Scheme issues. He does not appear to have edited articles about any other people or entities. Morality1 hides behind anonymity and I would guess that he is either one of the few pilots who were affected by the PPF cap when the Pension scheme was taken over by the PPF or he is representing them. There is a clear conflict of interests there.

I do not particularly want to enter into an editing war, it seems pointless to me, but attempts by other editors to balance the content have been met by continuous tendentious edits by this one editor, so I thought I should do something. I apologize if I have unintentionally broken the Wikipedia guidelines, although I am sure you will agree that it is not Wikipedia's purpose to be used, as Morality1 seems to be getting away with, as an instrument to attempt to damage the reputation of someone against whom the editor holds a grudge.

I think because we are trying to remove something here it doesn't matter about getting a source to say that you were not Monarch CEO, we can just leave it removed per WP:ONUS.

After taking a look at The Guardian source, the assertions made in the Wikipedia article have been extrapolated too much and it probably violates WP:SYNTH. Nonetheless The Guardian is a reliable source -- a more WP:DUE representation of that situation is to include both the view of the Pension's Regulator and of The Guardian/Frank Field. No comment about Morality1. I hide behind anonymity too.

They have not reacted to these current changes. If they return, I will leave them a note, and then take it from there. If they continue after that, they can expect to end up at the 'you've been a naughty boy' board, where they can possibly expect a topic ban, or if they have not edited anything else, an indefinite block for being WP:NOTHERE, per my experiences in dealing with disruptive single-purpose accounts.
