New page reviewer granted
Hi FULBERT. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encylopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance. so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 20:06, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review and trial for this Amanda (aka DQ). Will follow your guidance on this and have 10 new articles reviewed in two weeks. --- FULBERT (talk) 23:41, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
- If you do get 10 articles before 2 weeks, feel free to reapply then if you wish also. -- Amanda (aka DQ) 01:35, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
- Will do Amanda (aka DQ). Thanks! --- FULBERT (talk) 04:36, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Welcome to New Page Patrol!
Welcome, FULBERT to the New Page Patrol team.
Congratulations on receiving the New Page Patrol user permission and on becoming a part of the patroller community. Our mission is to accurately, rather than quickly, handle the new articles which are created. As you begin to patrol it's natural to have lots of questions. Feel free to ask on my talk page or ask for thoughts in the New Page Patroller IRC channel #wikimedia-npp connect or on our Discord server (invite link). We also regularly discuss issues and topics surrounding New Page Patrolling at the NPP discussion page and I would invite you to join us there. I hope you find NPP as rewarding as I do and, again, welcome to the community. ___CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 20:46, 3 June 2019 (UTC) |
- Many thanks for the warm welcome and encouragement of support CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk. It is much appreciated. I feel I both have a lot to learn while also being supported in the process. I hope, like karma, I can pass it forward. --- FULBERT (talk) 21:01, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

extracredit/week#1/Potatocircle
Hello! This is my first time to Wikipedia editing. Interesting exactly. Potatocircle (talk) 02:30, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
- Welcome to Wikipedia Potatocircle, and I hope you find it even more eye-opening and engaging than you ever imagined! --- FULBERT (talk) 12:27, 31 May 2019 (UTC)
- This is how I ping a name by including the name here, like Potatocircle FULBERT (talk) 23:18, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
I removed your speedy tag because Vixhere (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log) was blocked after creating the article, so the speedy deletion criteria regarding articles created by blocked users do not apply.
It is possible that the article could be deleted under other grounds, but I'll leave that up to you.
Best regards,
UninvitedCompany 23:50, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation, as I am a new New page reviewer learning through doing. Can you help me see where I could see that sort of information to avoid making that error in the future UninvitedCompany? Thanks. --- FULBERT (talk) 01:19, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion is where are all the CSD criteria are explained. Did you not read WP:G5 before tagging the article? – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 02:06, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- Bolingbroke is correct on the link. IMO there is no harm in tagging an article under a criterion that doesn't apply, as it is those admins actually performing the deletions that are bound by them, but some do take a narrower view. In any event, the article is hardly meritorious, and could perhaps be tagged and deleted under the aegis of another of the criteria. UninvitedCompany 02:15, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- @UninvitedCompany: Incorrectly applying CSD criteria can definitely be harmful! Slapping a fat deletion tag on the article of a good faith, but inexperienced, contributor seems very bitey to me. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 02:24, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you UninvitedCompany and Lord Bolingbroke for the explanation, and I have read the criteria. What I meant is that I am unclear how to see when a user is blocked to determine if that happened before or after the article is generated. Thanks. --- FULBERT (talk) 02:31, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. Just go to Special:Log/block and enter the username you are wondering about in the "Target" field. To see if an editor is currently blocked you can also go to his or her contributions page (in this case Special:Contributions/Vixhere). The time and reason for the block will be displayed at the top of the page. – Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 02:54, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- Indeed. Also, typically, there is a talk page notice -- often with more detail than the message in the block log. UninvitedCompany 16:36, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks again UninvitedCompany and Lord Bolingbroke for that! I would never have found it otherwise. --- FULBERT (talk) 03:32, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

Another WP:G5 tag removed
I removed your speedy deletion tag from Helsinki Summit (1990) because Hickskevin2212 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log) was blocked after creating the article, so the speedy deletion criteria regarding articles created by blocked users do not apply.
Basically the way you can tell if a user might have been blocked when they created a page is if they were blocked for sock puppetry and an account related by sock puppetry was blocked at the time the page was created. Unless a user is a sock puppet they can't create a page if they are blocked. —teb728 t c 05:52, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
Likewise Julie Eiselt —teb728 t c 05:59, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
Also Mohammad Akbar (politician): In this case the original author, Bijnorlion (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log), was a sock puppet of blocked user, Immirzakhan, but another user made substantial edits to the article. —teb728 t c 06:24, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for this helpful explanation teb728. These are the pieces of insight that I could not find by reading the guidelines alone. Appreciate it! --- FULBERT (talk) 03:33, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

Week 2: Evaluate Wikepedia Articles Creative Mastermind
Understanding how to quickly identify the validity and quality of Wikepedia articles is very helpful. This exercise was very useful and beneficial. I liked reading the talk page to see what others are saying about the article. It was also good to identify if the claims were supported by cited references. Feel free to read my article evaluation within my sandbox. --Creative Mastermind (talk) 00:32, 10 June 2019 (UTC)
