I'm not completely clear of what you would like added. Could you provide a term or blurb that would resolve the inadequacy?

That makes much more sense. The citation included is intended to reference the usage of molecular genetics. The definition of aDNA as displayed on its wikipedia page is "Ancient DNA (aDNA) is DNA isolated from ancient specimens.[1][2] It can be also loosely described as any DNA recovered from biological samples that have not been preserved specifically for later DNA analyses."

This seemed to provide enough clarity as it's a pretty simple concept. If they aren't pulling dna samples from ancient specimens, where is it coming from? What is the other option beyond aDNA for pulling archaeogenetic material for molecular genetic analysis?

I absolutely see where you're coming from. The use of modern DNA in archaeogenetics is mentioned in the last line of the first paragraph in the overview. It does make sense to emphasize its impact, however.

I wasn't sure it should be included in the overview as it nearly seems like a point to be saved for methods or applications?

I'll reword the opening to be less specific about archaeogenetcs's dependence on aDNA.
