Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC AYEDE. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 18:42, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or website, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 18:51, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

I know that my account has been blocked forever, but it will be necessary to appeal against this decision. The motive here is to contribute good content to Wikipedia and therefore it is my intention to adhere to the Policies of the Wikipedia site.

Here’s how I plan to address the requirements outlined in the unblock notice:

1. Disclosure of Compensation: I agree with the paid-contribution disclosure policy and state that I will follow it. I acknowledge that I may have a conflict of interest when editing or contributing to pages for which I could potentially be paid in the future. I will ensure transparency by declaring all paid contributions in accordance with Wikipedia’s rules and regulations, and by giving bias-free, factual, and sourced updates to the said pages.

2. Understanding of the Block: I know that my account was blocked for being promotional and too edit-war like not adhering to Wikipedia’s neutrality policy. More specifically, the page that I submitted was read more like the advertisement than an encyclopedic entry. Here, I have studied Wikipedia’s policies & guidelines seriously, with special focus on neutrality policy as well as conflict of interests policy. At least let me confirm to you that I will never repeat the action that made me receive this block.

3. Planned Contributions: In this case, I will enjoy the unrestricted access to Wikipedia and engage in reading educational and or information sharing articles. My edits will look to develop the wealth of knowledge that is Wikipedia through both inserting well sourced material as well as expanding on current knowledge while also fixing mistakes, all while abiding by neutrality policy. I will also not touch pages that I have conflict of interest unless I follow the guideline on conflict of interest very closely.

4. New Username: I am willing to come up with a brand new username that will meet the Wikipedia username policy. My proposed username is: "Ahiol" It does not endorse any company, organization or group and is in compliance with the provision of bias.

Many thanks for reading through my application.

Request reason:

I understand that my account has been blocked indefinitely, and I would like to request a review of my situation. I genuinely intend to make useful contributions to Wikipedia and will comply fully with the platform's guidelines.

Here’s how I plan to address the requirements outlined in the unblock notice:

1. Disclosure of Compensation: I confirm that I will comply with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement. I acknowledge that I have an intention to edit or create pages for which I may receive compensation in the future. I will ensure full transparency by following Wikipedia's paid-contribution disclosure guidelines and by editing such pages in a neutral, factual, and well-sourced manner.

2. Understanding of the Block: I understand that my account was blocked because my edits appeared promotional and did not meet Wikipedia's neutrality standards. Specifically, the page I submitted read more like an advertisement than an encyclopedic entry. I have thoroughly reviewed Wikipedia’s guidelines, including the rules on neutrality and conflict of interest, and I understand the importance of adhering to them strictly. I assure you that I will not repeat the behavior that led to this block.

3. Planned Contributions: If unblocked, I intend to focus on educational and informational articles. My contributions will aim to improve the quality of Wikipedia by adding reliable sources, expanding existing content, and correcting errors, all while adhering to Wikipedia’s neutrality policy. I will also avoid editing pages where I have a conflict of interest unless I strictly follow the conflict-of-interest guidelines.

4. New Username: I am prepared to create a new username that complies with Wikipedia’s username policy. My proposed username is: "Ahiol." It does not promote any company, organization, or group and aligns with the requirement for neutrality.

Thank you for considering my request. I am committed to adhering to Wikipedia’s policies and contributing positively to the community.
