Request to un-delete an image -- Legislative Assembly of Ontario page
I just noticed that on April 16 at 00:00, you deleted the image File:Shield of arms - Ontario Leg.jpg , with the reason being "F5: Unused non-free media file" (see here). That image has been used for many years at the top of the infobox on the Legislative Assembly of Ontario page. However, it appears that a user removed that image from the infobox with no explanation (see here) and replaced it with a different arms image that is not the unique arms of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. If I had noticed this earlier, I would have restored the original image right away, and I would still like to do that now. However, since this image has been deleted, I am no longer able to so that myself. Thus, I'd like to respectfully request un-deletion of the image File:Shield of arms - Ontario Leg.jpg which was deleted on April 16. I will then be able to restore that image to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario page where it belongs. Thank you for your help! -- Blairall (talk) 22:41, 18 April 2022 (UTC)

Young Dubliners deletion
I'd like to respectfully request un-deletion of the Young Dubliners page which was removed yesterday, April 16. The page was marked for not meeting style and notability guidelines and significant portions of it had already been removed. However, I believe the band meets multiple notability criteria, including an album on Billboard's world chart for 115 weeks, touring nationally and internationally with major acts like Jethro Tull, multiple national television appearances, etc. I started a major revision a few weeks ago, which I've been drafting in Word so I could do some of it at work. I believe I can bring the page substantially into compliance. However, I've never attempted something on this scale and it's much slower going than I anticipated. I am respectfully asking for a stay of execution while I continue to work on it. Thank you for your consideration Restlessinbfe (talk) 22:07, 17 April 2022 (UTC)

PathAI
Good afternoon, I am writing in regard to the article PathAI that was deleted on April 13. Is it possible to get back the full text of the content that was deleted as the editor would like to make some modifications and the version that was moved to mainspace was the complete draft version. Thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to provide. Amyc29 (talk) 19:35, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

Kyle McMahon
Greetings from Delaware, User:Explicit You had deleted as page KyleMcmahon that I had created in conjunction with the editors and admins in The Teahouse over two years ago working with them to get it up to par as my first entry. My other work consists of Delaware related and Entertainment related edits, clarifications, etc.
I was pinged by an editor who marked it AfD where there was one vote to delete by a user who seems to have a personal vendetta against the subject looking at this notes and personal attacks, but unfortunately was offline the past month due to a death in the family so just saw it today.
Talked with the original editor who marked AfD discussion who had suggested I contact you since it has now been closed.
Reviewing again, there were numerous editors and admins that contributed to and cleaned up the subject page over the span of two years - I believe it was 22 users / editors / admins. Traffic reports show there was traffic to the page as well. Additionally, the subject meets three of our qualifications for notability from being an on Air host / DJ on numerous major market stations across the country through I Heart Radio, including New York City LITE FM & KISS FM Los Angeles, who we cite as the two largest stations in the US; secondly being the subject of an Emmy winning television series (Oprah) and finally hosting a major podcast on I Heart Radio with high level guests, which itself has articles written about news that broke in the interviews - such as with Zack Snyder regarding his Justice League film.
Thanks for your consideration on the other side of Planet Earth FRANKY (talk) 03:06, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

Question about a long-since-deleted article
Hi,
I learned that you deleted Guild of Carillonneurs in North America a long time ago in 2013. While working through carillon's FAC last year, I was asked to redlink to this page, despite the fact that it was deleted via PROD. Having plenty of time to comb through my sources, I think I may have enough references to warrant its recreation. I have two questions:
- Is there a way to see the full deletion summary? It is cut off in my only view:
Expired PROD, concern was: I can find no significant coverage of this guild - all the references I found were minor mentions of the guild (generally 'xyz is a member of the Guild...') or a few single-sentence mentions. I can also find no ev...
- Is there a way to see the article as it existed before deletion? That would help me understand just how much improvement on the reference side is needed and whether I can meet it.
Thanks. Thrakkx (talk) 13:07, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Thrakkx: Hi, the full PROD rationale was as follows: "I can find no significant coverage of this guild - all the references I found were minor mentions of the guild (generally "xyz is a member of the Guild...") or a few single-sentence mentions. I can also find no evidence that it meets the notability criteria". I have made a copy of the content as it was before it was deleted available here. ✗plicit 13:18, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
- Oh wow—a single sentence and no references. Thanks for this. I'll (eventually) get to work on a draft and send it your way for review, if you so desire, before I push it to article space. Thrakkx (talk) 13:24, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
Draft:Rodin Quartet
I had that (deleted) article on my user page to improve eventually, did you see? - Never mind in this case, it was short and can easily be recreated, but in general: could there please be a warning that a delete is about to happen? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:37, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: The draft was created by LouisAlain, which is the only person who gets notification regarding deletion. I'm not sure what you mean when you say it was on your userpage or how one is supposed to find it. In any case, an uncontroversial request for undeletion can be requested to the deleting admin or at WP:REFUND. ✗plicit 12:49, 28 April 2022 (UTC)

Undeletion Nicolás Atanes
Hello, I recently participated in an initiative made by Nicolás in Pamplona, where he explained to us what his work consisted of. After a Google search, I spoke with my brother. Since the day before yesterday I've been looking how to create an article of him in this Wikipedia, and I saw that you deleted his article. After asking a friend who is a member of Wikipedia (with experience) he told me that the best thing I could do is to ask you to undelete the article Nicolás Atanes here, so that it appears again. I consider it necessary.--Martarodriguezsarasa (talk) 18:02, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

- Well, I will try to ask him. I just asked him how can I create an article for Nicolás, and when I saw it was deleted, I asked him again what could I do. Is there any way to restore it? Martarodriguezsarasa (talk) 18:29, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Bbb23 After speaking with my friend, he says he prefers not to be mentioned. He read what I said and he says that the message can be anyways valid without adding that sentence. He coincides with me in the undeletion, which is something that is always done when something was deleted and it has relevance and interest. Can it be restored? Should I give evidence of the "relevance"? Martarodriguezsarasa (talk) 18:53, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

EmmaWiggs.jpg
I do not understand why you have deleted the image of Emma. It is being used with permission of the athlete herself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nunners (talk • contribs) 12:37, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Nunners: At the upload form, you must have indicated that the image was uploaded for noncommercial use or "used with permission", which automatically tagged the file for speedy deletion in accordance with the improper license criterion, hence its deletion. The copyright of a photo generally lies with the photographer, not the person depicted in said photo. If the photographer would like to release their work under a free license, please ask them to follow the steps as outlined at C:COM:CONSENT. ✗plicit 13:16, 3 May 2022 (UTC)

Hi Explicit. Do you think File:Ellen ripley.jpg should be split? The two versions are completely different, but the older version is probably going to end up deleted per F5 in a few days. I’m just asking out of curiosity; I’ve got no preference either way. — Marchjuly (talk) 05:40, 4 May 2022 (UTC)
Question about Draft:Aeroeleib
The article is clearly spam, but the website they're trying to advertise doesn't exist. Should I still tag it for spam? 72.10.126.194 (talk) 12:46, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
- I searched for the website on the Wayback Machine and it was live when the draft was first created, but it seems to have gone offline a few weeks after. As the language of the page met the criteria for WP:CSD#G11, I have deleted it at such. Thanks for pointing this out. ✗plicit 12:59, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
Regarding image
Hi Explicit, Hope you are doing well. Recently, I have uploaded and added a image of Josephine Alhanko at wikimedia commons. Would you please review that image? If any thing goes wrong then notify me. Thank you! Fade258 (talk) 12:42, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Fade258: Hi, it's almost good. While the source does show a Creative Commons License, it does not specify which version. At most we have c:Template:Cc, but that template redirects to a deletion template. Would you happen to know if there is clarification about the photo's copyright status somewhere else on that website? There's a language barrier on my end. ✗plicit 12:59, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
- Explicit, Yes, I also noticed that point which you have stated but when I click to Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License this message pops up LicenseWith a Creative Commons license, you retain your copyright but allow other people to copy and distribute your work provided they recognize you as the author. You allow others to copy, distribute, display and perform the work, as well as to create adaptations of it. So, on that basis I have tagged here a license of CC-BY-SA-3.0. Regarding this liscense, If you have any doubt then clarify your doubt to me. (As you mentioned in above that language barriers on my end, I have also this language problem but I am using Google translator to translate the language whereas the language present in this source is Swedish) Thank you! Fade258 (talk) 14:39, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
Lucile Randon
Hello Explicit,
I hope you are well. The reason why I came to your talk page is because I uploaded a file on Lucile Randon and Whpq tagged it for deletion because she is a living person. In my view, I don't think it matters whether the person is alive or not. There are public domain photos of her when she was younger, but not in her later life. After you deleted the first file, I uploaded a similar file at File:Lucile Randon 2022.jpg.webp which also got tagged for deletion by the same person for the same reason. I strongly believe that the "No free equivalent" criteria has not been violated because there is no free equivalent of her in her later life. If you could elaborate on why you made the decision to delete the file and why you think it violates 1 of WP:FUC, that would be great. Thanks, Interstellarity (talk) 15:35, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) A free equivalent of Randon as she appears in later life could be created, couldn't it? Is there some reason why someone is unable to take a photo of her and release it under a free license that Wikipedia accepts? Is there some reason why someone can't release a recently taken photo of her under a free license that Wikipedia accepts? WP:FREER doesn't just mean a free equivalent image needs to currently exist; it also deals with whether there's a reasonable expectation that a free equivalent could possibly be created. If you're able to find a non-free image of Randon that was taken in April 2022, then it seems reasonable that someone could take another photo of her and release it under a free license that Wikipedia accepts. If you do a cursory Google search of Randon, there seem to be lots of images and even YouTube videos of her to be found. Whether these are acceptably licensed is unclear and perhaps one of those copyright holders of those things might be persuaded per WP:PERMISSION to give their WP:CONSENT to upload their photo; it does, however, seem to indicate that Randon is a relatively public person who's not totally adverse to being photographed or videoed. — Marchjuly (talk) 19:20, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: Thanks for your feedback. I’d be curious to know why other supercentenarians like Jeanne Calment, Kane Tanaka, and Jiroemon Kimura have photos under non free licenses compared to Randon. How could I convince someone to take a photo of Randon and publish it under a free license that Wikipedia accepts? Thanks, Interstellarity (talk) 20:42, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- The main and most important difference between Randon and those other three persons are that they are no longer living. Generally, non-free images of deceased persons tend to be considered an acceptable type of non-free use per item 10 of WP:NFCI as long as the use in question satisfies all ten non-free content use criteria. When a person dies, it's pretty much impossible to take a new photo of them; a free-equivalent image still may be possible obtain, but a "new photo" isn't. This a pretty high hurdle to overcome when it comes to a still living person since it's deemed reasonable in most cases for a new photo to be taken. It might seem odd that a non-free photo of someone still-living today is for the most part never allowed and a non-free photo of the same person might be allowed after they die, but that's the way WP:NFCC#1 has been interpreted and applied over the years. Most likely that is why Whpq simply gave "living person" as the rationale for the speedy deletion of this file; such a thing has been supported by consensus since the WP:NFCC was established and most deletions of this type are fairly non-contentious. Not everyone, of course, may agree with this, but so far nobody has been able to established a new consensus for changing it. All it takes is for just one of the ten non-free criteria to not be met for an non-free file to be considered non-compliant, and it's NFCC#1 that most non-free images of still-living persons fail. As for your other question, I don't really know a good answer to that other than to say that others have reached out directly to copyright holders using WP:PERMISSION and WP:REQFREE (or maybe even something like c:Commons:Flickr files/Appeal for license change) as their guide to seek the copyright holder's WP:CONSENT (or c:COM:CONSENT) to upload a file. Others try WP:RI or c:COM:RI to see if some other Wikipedian or a Commons user can provide or find a free image. Others still might try a WikiProject talk page or asking on another language Wikipedia to see if someone can help create or find a non-free image. Sometimes such things are successful and other times they're not. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:31, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks @Marchjuly for your response. I have also added living people to the policy page to make clear of this. I would be willing to get a consensus for this if this gets reverted. I'll try to ask other editors to find a free image of Randon that can be used. Interstellarity (talk) 23:45, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
- You should seek a consensus first before making such a change since even a well-meaning change such as yours could impact how this policy is being applied. This is already covered in item 1 of WP:NFC#UUI. It’s not necessarily the fact that a non-free image automatically can’t be used because someone is still alive any more than it’s the case that a non-free image automatically can be used because someone is dead. Things are more nuanced than that in some cases: a non-free image of a still living person may be allowed in some cases and a non-free image of a deceased person may not be allowed in other cases. — Marchjuly (talk) 00:29, 7 May 2022 (UTC)

File:Book Cover , Economist's' Thought and Economics Khmer Book.jpeg
Hi Explicit. File:Book Cover , Economist's' Thought and Economics Khmer Book.jpeg has been reuploaded by its uploader. It's currently lacking any source or licensing information; so, it's likely going to end up being tagged for speedy deletion per F4. You actually deleted this file a few days ago on May 5 because I had prodded it for deletion. I don't know how the uploader is going to try and license the file this time around, but trying to treat it as anything other than non-free is likely going to be a copyvio per F9. So, if you want to delete this one and restore the one you deleted as a contested prod, then that's OK. I don't think a consensus for keep will be established at FFD, but I'm not opposed to discussing things at FFD. Similarly, if you want to add a non-free license to this one and start a discussion about it at FFD, then that's cool too. The only problem with that is that the file's currently not being used in any articles which means it will be eligible for speedy per F5 and it also doesn't have a rationale which means it would be eligible for speedy per F6. In principle, I'm not going to add a rationale to a file's page for a use that I don't think is NFCC compliant; some editors don't seem to mind doing that and see it as housekeeping, but that makes no sense to me unless you truly believe the rationale to be valid. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:19, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: Hi, I don't think any action needs to be taken at the moment. The onus to keep the content falls on the author, so we don't need to put any work in it if it's not worthwhile. A bot has tagged it for, as expected, not having a license. Unless the uploader adds one, then it will just get deleted per usual. ✗plicit 14:40, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

COI editor possibly trying to evade scrutiny
I know, it's probably the first time ever anywhere that has happened. But you deleted:
after it was declined multiple times and tagged as paid-editing because the editor tagged it G7. Now the same editor has re-created it. Mind if I un-delete the old so that this history can be seen and save the AFC folks some time? DMacks (talk) 03:58, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

Subjective Propaganda in the "Baptists" Article
Hello,
There is extreme subjective religious propaganda (upholding Baptist Christian denominations) present in the Baptists article; and as I can see from the Edit History, people have tried to change that several times, to no avail. Is there any way this may be permanently changed? I am not knowldegeable enough on the issue, so I have not attempted to edit the article.
Thank you, have a nice day. Don Pepparkakor (talk) 12:22, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
Deletion of Template:Moondance
I notice that you recently deleted Template:Moondance based on a Tfd rationale for a mass nomination of "These were all listed as individual listings. Merged together because the rational is the same. In all cases, a template for the artist or work already exists and therefore these templates are duplication. {{Extra track listing}} the additional navigation template is not required and is duplication. The guidance says 'Track listings should not be added to infoboxes if there is a navigation template or navbox at the bottom of the article which already lists the songs.'" However, neither the Van Morrison nor the Van Morrison singles templates list all the songs and thus this template at least did not conform to the nomination rationale and should not have been deleted. Rlendog (talk) 13:54, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Rlendog: Hi, I think you mean to link Template:Moondance tracks. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I have restored this template and re-added it to the song articles. @Lil-unique1: Please take note of this. ✗plicit 14:11, 13 May 2022 (UTC)

Overlinking
It is okay to have the lead image caption and list members linked? If not, does that violate any guidelines? Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 00:34, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

About Draft:Gay and Draft:Xenogender
Draft:Gay is a pointless article with no content, and Draft:Xenogender appears to be made up. I just don't know if I can speedy them though. 72.10.126.197 (talk) 17:13, 16 May 2022 (UTC)

Cross-namespace redirect from mainspace
Hi Explicit, as I admitted, I had mistakenly made a wrong crossname space redirect from page tittle Kamla Nath Sharma to Aditya Bahuguna talk, with the result that the page got deleted. I had requested you to kindly reverse that mistake of mine and restore the status. Perhaps that escaped your eyes. I request you now to please restore the draft page on Kamla Nath Sharma for moving to mainspace. I highly regret the mistakes made by me because of lack of knowledge of the processes, for which I apologise. Regards. Aaditya.Bahuguna (talk) 05:08, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

DJ Melz
Hi there, it seems a couple of days ago you deleted a stale draft at Draft:DJ Melz. Now this has been submitted to AfC: User:JerryT87/sandbox/DJ Melz. It doesn't look quite right, including the fact that it has seemingly been created in another (non-existent?) user's sandbox. I was wondering if you could check it out and see if you can spot a connection with the deleted draft? Many thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 05:59, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
- @DoubleGrazing: Hi, the account JerryT87 does exist, but has not made any edits. Interestingly, the previous draft was created by Melissa Mwaura. It was edited by JayKing1986, who was blocked for undisclosed paid editing, as well as Indipol and Smith 1amos, who were blocked for abusing multiple accounts. Seems like we're dealing with a sockfarm. ✗plicit 06:46, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

Technical query on PRODs
Hi, you recently close the PROD on TAP Boyz due to a previous PROD attempt having been made. The only thing is, I PRODed this via Twinkle, which normally flags previous PRODs or deletion attempts and prevents a PROD from going ahead where previous attempts exist. Do you have any idea why here, in this instance, the system would not have flagged the prior PROD? Iskandar323 (talk) 12:01, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
- Might this have anything to do with the prior nominee having removed their own PROD? And also, does this count? Because surely if a prior PROD could be registered and then removed by the same user while still resulting in the permanent listing of a PROD in the logs, couldn't editors use these feature to PROD-proof their own articles by adding and removing PROD tags? Maybe that's a highly theoretical scenario, and not a loophole that has, to date, been exploited, but I'm just curious to understand if this is indeed the current state of play in the PROD setup. Iskandar323 (talk) 12:07, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
@Iskandar323: Hi, I believe Twinkle does not rely on the page history to find past PRODs, but instead on {{Old prod}} on the article's talk page. It didn't detect one, so the nomination went through. As for the previous PROD, it was removed by Radiant chains after being contested on the talk page by TonyTheTiger. ✗plicit 12:09, 26 May 2022 (UTC)

deletion of Apriori algorithm?!?
While I can't see the article contents anymore, I believe the deletion and PROD was a very poor call and it should be undeleted. Apriori is an extremely important algorithm, and if there was a redundancy with the association rule mining article, it should be properly resolved, likely not by deletion. Hvnnibvl Page Restoration
Hi Explicit - can you please address why you deleted the Wikipedia page for musician Hvnnibvl? He has many pieces of press that were previously noted as credible, hence why the page was reviewed and published by other moderators originally. On top of the press, he has had multiple charting songs on Spotify viral lists in the 2017-2018 period and also has his productions placed in major American television shows. 2603:7080:C203:1792:7951:E8C3:3FC:1726 (talk) 03:32, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hi, I see that the page was created by Hvnnibvl. Were you the operator of that account? Are you the subject that was discussed at the deletion debate? ✗plicit 00:38, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
Hello Explicit - no I am neither the creator of Hvnnibvl nor the artist Hvnnibvl himself, I am just an advocate for his music and believe his work gives him the proper credentials for a Wikipedia page, as it was already reviewed and published / deemed credible once.

Removal jpg Errol Sawyer
Why? 1027E (talk) 19:45, 31 May 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher)@1027E: Apparently File:Errol sawyer.jpg and a number of other files of Sawyer uploaded by a user named Decker4 had licensing issues that couldn't be resolved. My guess is that Decker4 uploaded a bunch of files of Sawyer under licenses that couldn't be verified. Sometimes it can take a bit of time before anyone notices something like this, but there's not much that can be done to keep a file if its license can't be verified. The files were tagged for speedy deletion by a user named Minorax. Minorax looks to be quite experienced when it comes to file related matters; so, it's unlikely they would've tagged the files for deletion if it was a simple issue that could've been easily resolved in some other way. Given the fact that Sawyer died in 2020, it might be OK to upload a non-free image of him to use in the main infobox; however, you should do some searching to see if there might be a free image of him that could be used instead first. Perhaps you could contact one of Sawyer's representatives and ask them for an image like you or someone else seems to have done for this photo of his father. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:59, 31 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for your reaction. ERROL SAWYER Foundation is the owner of this jpg but it seems impossible to upload it as somebody else is busy with it. 1027E (talk) 14:27, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
Unsilenced
Hi there, I see that you deleted the Unsilenced draft page. Was there a reason for a full delete? I was still working on the page. And now I cannot figure out how to access it. Did you delete it entirely? Again, why was that? Farr4h2004 (talk) 21:44, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher)@Farr4h2004: I don't think Explicit deleted the draft: it can still be found at Draft:Unsilenced. Explicit only deleted the redirect page and that was because pages in the article namespace aren't allowed to redirect to the draft namespace per speedy deletion R2. You can continue to work on your draft and then you can submit it for review when you think it's ready to be upgraded to article status. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:30, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
Disagreement concerning bundling of AFDs
Hello Explicit, I saw that you are active in the area of the deletion process and wanted to ask if you could take a short look at the following disagreement concerning bundled AFDs at Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_deletion/Definitions_of_knowledge#One AFD for two articles: is it acceptable to bundle two articles with different topics and contents (Definitions of knowledge and Definitions of education) in the middle of an ongoing discussion into one AFD according to WP:BUNDLE? The discussion of the AFD itself at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Definitions_of_knowledge is so far exclusively on the article Definitions of knowledge. Phlsph7 (talk) 11:13, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Phlsph7: Hi, in my reading of WP:BUNDLE, it would seemingly allow such a bundling on the basis that they are related topics by being "definitions of X" articles. The list of examples provided there indicate the type of bundling that would be acceptable, but it is not exhaustive nor does it disallow any other types of bundling. Regarding the timing of the addition, "debates should be bundled only at the start or near the start of the debate". As the second article was listed just under two hours after the AFD was initiated, there are no issues in this aspect. In my personal view in this particular situation, because the bundling occurred after comments starting coming in and the addition of Definitions of education was contested, it is better in practice to just start a separate AFD for the second article instead of trying to push it into Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Definitions of knowledge. ✗plicit 11:42, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for your detailed response. I am also in favor of unbundling, especially since WP:BUNDLE clearly specifies that "If you're unsure, don't bundle it". I tried to remove the bundling since the other editor (Praxidicae) stopped participating in the bundling discussion. But they reverted me right away and placed a blocking warning on my talk page here. What do you suggest should I do next? Phlsph7 (talk) 11:52, 5 June 2022 (UTC)

James G. Snitzer article
What you did by deleting the James G. Snitzer (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/James_G._Snitzer) article is one of the worst abuses of power by an administrator I’ve ever seen on Wikipedia.
Was there even a prod? Did you even leave a complimentary notice on my talk page - considering I was the creator - that you would propose a deletion? Completely irresponsible abuse of administrative powers on your part.
The article had been on wikipedia for more than a decade and you in just a few minutes decide to delete it.
Take a look right here at what you did. There were 13 references from reputable sources.
https://web.archive.org/web/20210815132028/https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/James_G._Snitzer
You are exactly the type of administrator who should your privileges revoked. And tell me, which part of G8 did deleting the article fall under?????
G8. Pages dependent on a non-existent or deleted page Examples include:
- Talk pages with no corresponding subject page
- Subpages with no parent page
- File pages without a corresponding file
- Redirects to targets that never existed or were deleted
- Unused editnotices of non-existent or unsalted deleted pages
- Categories populated by deleted or retargeted templates
This criterion excludes any page that is useful to Wikipedia, and in particular:
- Deletion discussions that are not logged elsewhere
- User talk pages
- Talk page archives (except article talk page archives where the corresponding article and main talk page have been deleted and the page is not otherwise useful to Wikipedia – check for page-moves and merges before using G8 on article-talk-page-archives; the parent article might still exist under a different name)
- Redirects that were broken as a result of a page move (these should instead be retargeted to their target's new name), except where R2 speedy deletion would then immediately apply
- Plausible redirects that can be changed to valid targets
- User subpages when the user has not created a user page
- Talk pages for files that exist on Wikimedia Commons
- Pages that should be moved to a different location[5]
None of these descriptions fits or justifies what you did. You are just one of these fly-by night admin who doesn’t want to have a proper vote, so you just try and sneak a deletion through? I just wonder, how many other articles have you deleted in this way? Again, you are what’s wrong with Wikipedia. David Straub (talk) 07:10, 12 June 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher)@David Straub: I don't believe Explicit is the administrator who deleted James G. Snitzer; the article and the corresponding Talk:James G. Snitzer look like they were deleted by another administrator. — Marchjuly (talk) 11:43, 12 June 2022 (UTC)
- David Straub, you appear to have some of your facts wrong. In any event, Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion is the right venue for requesting that this PRODded article be undeleted. You could have saved yourself a lot of time and aggravation by simply posting a request there. Before you do, though, you might want to look at WP:GNG and Wikipedia:Notability (people), then take an unbiased look at the article linked above to see whether those criteria are met; see, in particular, the phrase "significant coverage". – Jonesey95 (talk) 06:24, 13 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi Explicit. You declined the G5 request at Susan Hood. The article was made on May 23, 2022 by JorieLeisure, who is a sock of TheUser2020. TheUser2020 was banned on May 25, 2021, so wouldn't G5 apply? – Pbrks (t • c) 14:34, 15 June 2022 (UTC)

Wow
I just saw your exchange at User talk:Vsmith#Gourd Creek and Beaver Creek (Little Piney Creek tributary). I was looking into who left a barely coherent comment at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Haydite, Missouri. I had no idea this editor (creator of the article) was an admin when I sent the article to AFD. I see Mill Creek (Little Piney Creek tributary) was also AFDed and their comments there were quite argumentative. This is not what I expect from an Admin. They haven't turned back on their Autopatrol bit yet; they wouldn't qualify, based on all that I have seen here, if they had to request it. MB 21:48, 16 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi, Explicit. You deleted the article Kinkalow on grownds of notability. The request has been made in Wikipedia:WikiProject Animals/Article requests. Sounds like the animal is more than a hybrid, the name is also mentioned in List of cat breeds. Coverage in Google Scholar is limited, not even on the specifics of their non-consistent mutations. In Google Books, as expected, the coverage is on "Ultimate Guides". Interested on answering the call from the Animals Wikiproject, should we delete the request or add some of these citations to show notability? Hvnnibvl Wikipedia Page
Hi Explicit - I replied to the prior request I made but it seems it is no longer an active conversation. To pick up where things left off, I was in the process of stating that I do not have any affiliation with Hvnnibvl, but am an active fan and advocate for his work. I do believe the Wikipedia page for this artist should be restored given it was previously published and noted by those who set the page live as credible. He is a pretty successful act in the Electronic music scene online and has many articles and online credentials to support that. 2600:1700:4E03:20:D178:AB67:1FF2:2D8F (talk) 01:44, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
- Pages deleted as a result of a deletion discussion can not be restored upon request. Your best bet is to go through the articles for creation process, where you can create a draft article. It will allow experienced users to determine if the subject is notable or give suggestions on how to improve the page. ✗plicit 01:10, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
Okay in which case my larger question is then why was the page originally published and cited as notable by the editors who published it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:8000:BF45:E6A3:DD42:71F2:9488:4989 (talk) 01:24, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) Hi IP 2603:8000:BF45:E6A3:DD42:71F2:9488:4989. Just going to jump in here to add that many articles are created outside of the WP:Articles for Creation process and, thus, aren't thoroughly assessed prior to be "published". There's no requirement that articles be vetted prior to being created and any user in good standing who is WP:AUTOCONFIRMED can, in principle, create an article about anything they want at pretty much at anytime they want. The hope is of course that such editors will take the time to familiarize themselves with things like WP:42 and WP:NOT before they attempt such a thing, but unfortunately many do not even though their intentions might be the best. Given that there are currently over six million Wikipedia articles created by lots of different users over the years and that there aren't over six million users checking on each others work, it sometimes takes a WP:LONGTIME to find problem articles and assess them. Sometimes it's a case of the squeaky wheel getting the grease in which an article flies under the radar for so many years until somebody or something (i.e. a WP:BOT) notices it for some reason. Ideally, the goal is to WP:PRESERVE articles whenever possible, but in some cases it may be impossible to WP:OVERCOME the issues certain articles have and thus deletion is the only viable result. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:17, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

- Thanks. Yes, this is because the article was created by another user as you can see, but it has many drawbacks, including citing unsourced content. I want to use my previous content that came with the source to replace them and improve the article in the best way, such as the Persian version that if you look, I created the Persian version and almost 90% of it I edited, of course with Good help from others, but here the article has many problems that if you can at least take the wroting of my article to where I said it would be very good. Please reinstate Negus Nurse Wikipedia Page
No consensus reached on Negus Nurse. Requesting Undeletion by admin. (talk) 05:29, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Capture2015: The page has already been restored by the deleting admin. I find it odd that it was soft deleted to begin with as it was clearly contested in the first comment, and therefore not eligible for soft deletion. One has to wonder when certain users can ever fully grasp such a basic concept. ✗plicit 07:01, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Capture2015: Now that the article has been restored, you should try and short out the issues associated with File:Portrait of Negus Nurse.jpg that you uploaded to Commons. There needs to be some way of verifying that the file has been released under the license you've uploaded it under. If you're unable to do so, the file is likely going to end up deleted. In addition, there have been quite a number of file licensing related notifications added to your Commons user talk page over the years and many of your uploads have been deleted for one reason or another. This kind of indicates that you might not have a good understanding of relevant Commons policies and guidelines such as c:COM:L, c:COM:Own work and c:COM:NETCOPYVIO. It's OK to make mistakes and lots of people do, but if you continue to repeat those mistakes and upload files with questionable licensing claims, there's a good chance that a Commons administrator may step in and take action against your account. Such action could be just a formal warning or it could be an immediate blocking of your account. So, if you're not sure about whether it's OK to upload a file to Commons, you probably should ask for help at c:COM:VPC before doing so. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:48, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hey thanks for that. Actually a lot of those images were reuploaded with the relevant permissions. I should probably clean up my commons user talk page as those were from years ago. You would notice from the article i created Nicholas Marcus Thompson that those were the images i uploaded with relevant permissions. But thank you for the heads up, I did send in a request for the author of the photo to confirm their ownership with you. Deleted file
File:Items seized by Columbia Point Dawgs.jpg was only unused because of an error on the part of AnomieBOT. Can you please restore it? Sumanuil. 20:29, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Sumanuil: Done, file restored. ✗plicit 00:10, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) @Sumanuil: The justification for that file use in Columbia Point Dawgs is really quite weak and I personally don't think a consensus would be established in favor of it if it was discussed at WP:FFD. It's quite a WP:DECORATIVE type of non-free use and also seems rather inappropriate as an infobox image. Photos like this are quite common when law enforcement agencies want to visually show the results of their efforts when the go after criminal gangs and readers don't really need to see a non-free image weapons, cash, drugs, etc. seized from gang members by law enforcement agencies to know that such a seizure took place per WP:FREER. There are also sourcing problems with the photo since the website provided as the source doesn't show the photo at all. I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer here since you made a good-faith effort to get Explicit to restore this file, but I don't see how it's current use meets relevant policy and thus how it can avoid being re-deleted unless the issues I pointed out are somewhat addressed. on a more positive note, it's possible that this photo didn't originate with the Boston Herald; if the photo was taken by a member of FBI as part of their official duties and then was distributed to various media outlets, the it would be {{PD-USGov-FBI}} and not need to be treated as non-free content. However, it clearly need to be established that the photo came from the FBI in order to convert the license to PD. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:41, 27 June 2022 (UTC)

Request: G4 check on Draft:Zooel Morshed
Greetings. Pinging you as the closing admin on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Zooel Morshed--a new draft has appeared, created by a new account (appearing to follow the all too familiar pattern of 10-12 innocuous edits before creating the page), with the appearance of being a copypaste job considering that they pasted in the old AfD template. I'm not familiar with the previous history of the article and can't see the deleted content, so I wanted to ask if this was similar enough to the previous version to be eligible for a G4 speedy. Misunderstanding in the name of a town
Hi Dear Explicit,
I don't know if it's right to bring this up here, but you recently deleted Defense Industry Complex, Isfahan and cited "Clearly not a village, and the company town designation is WP:OR." as the reason, when I have to say that it is not, because I myself lived there for more than 5 years, without having the slightest connection with that factory or industry! Although this town was originally established for the employees of Isfahan Defense Industries and was opened under the same name, but later, additional houses were provided to the people and the name of the settlement was changed to "Shahid Namjoo". (The new name is also written on the entrance board). I remember that during the school days (in that town) more than 50% of the children's families had nothing to do with industries. I must mention that there is a residential complex with complete facilities and for example here you can see the buildings and the clinic there. --Maometto97 (talk) 13:15, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
