Help

[edit]

Hello, I am new here. I have read through some of some of the Getting started pages on Wikipedia. But I have a question, when I am editing I am struggling with providing links to sources for the information I have provided on an article. Can you give me some advice? Thank you for your time, much appreciated in advance. European Legend (talk) 23:39, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The first mistake I made when providing new information to an article was adding info that "I knew was true", but I could not find any reliable source to confirm what "I knew was true". So my edits would often be reverted (the article was returned to what it was before my edits). Then I realized that if I couldn't back up what I was adding to an article, it was considered original research. I was putting the cart before the horse, so to speak. So I started using search engines. I would enter a phrase about what I wanted to add to an article in the search field, and I would begin with an advanced scholarly search and a book search. If I could not find a reliable source to back up my info, then I knew I shouldn't add it to the article, even if I was absolutely certain it was true. Wikipedia actually does not rely upon what is real or true, but only upon what can be confirmed and verified reliably. I hope this answers your question and helps you. Wikipedia is a learning experience that is well worth the effort! – PAINE ELLSWORTH CLIMAX! 23:53, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you this has helped me a lot and I am sure it will be a great learning experience for me as it is for many others. European Legend (talk) 23:59, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation

[edit]
Christopher Hegarty (footballer), which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

You are more than welcome to continue making quality contributions to Wikipedia. Note that because you are a logged-in user, you can create articles yourself, and don't have to post a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for Creation if you prefer.

Thank you for helping improve Wikipedia!

Hello Jpgorden, I appreciate your commitment in keeping Wikipedia clean. However I am not the user "Vanda0301" nor am I "Robbieranger". My IP Address covers a large area and this has happened before to my account. I am now asking for help on how to make an appeal or something to get myself unblocked. In advance thanks and I appreciate your time. European Legend (talk) 04:46, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I had asked for help however it is saying that it as been resolved and I don't understand. My question is above, I would really appreciate if someone can help me out. European Legend (talk) 05:16, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The help request is unnecessary. I'll let the blocking admin know. m.o.p 05:27, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello, I am not the user "Vanda0301" nor am I "Robbieranger". My IP Address covers a large area and this has happened before to my account. I fully understand that the user jpgordon directly blocked me as he has suspected that I am a sockpuppet, however I am not. I wish to continue to contribute to wikipedia and I am hoping to write new articles about footballers, for now as I did Christopher Hegarty (footballer). Thank you for your time European Legend (talk) 05:27, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

While I'd love to assume good faith and that you are a separate person, given that you seem to share similar interests, have a similar writing style and edit from the same IP range as Robbieranger, I'm afraid I'll have to decline this unblock request. m.o.p 06:42, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Hi. I don't know what you mean by similiar interests, I assume by looking at Robbieranger profile you are implying that because we have both edited football articles. However I was also going to start editing political articles as I had stated on my user page which user Robbieranger had never done. I don't understand what you mean by using the same writing style as it is very difficult not to have the same writing style as an english speaker. European Legend (talk) 1:53 pm, Today (UTC−5)

Just to add, I see for the profile of Robbieranger he had never created any articles, which I have done.

Request reason:

There is not much more I can really say apart from I am not a sockpuppet. This is my fisrt and only account on wikipedia and I know there is evidence to suggest I am a sockpuppet (however I am not), but this is legitimately my first and only account on Wikipedia. I really wish to continue to contribute to Wikipedia most notably to enchance the language of the article I was was working on?UNIQ338eb1ee75b9a664-nowiki-00000005-QINU?1?UNIQ338eb1ee75b9a664-nowiki-00000006-QINU?. Also to create a couple of articles I had in mind for professional football players. Even if there was some way I could prove to the wikipedia community that I am not a sockpuppet. Thank you for your time.

Decline reason:

You're welcome; it didn't take too much. Nothing I can say that previous declines haven't. Sorry. — Daniel Case (talk) 02:55, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
